Superb versatile instrument
I play in both a punk/metal band and a red dirt/blues band. This bass fits right in with both. Flip over to active and I can soften the tone to my liking for the blues band. Flip active off, crank up the amp and add OD or Fuzz for the metal band. The neck is sublime in feel, and the bass is well balanced. This will be my go to bass both outside and in the studio.
I threw on a black pickguard and it is just sexy time with the cobra blue and black inlays/neck binding.
Just feels right.
Love love this bass. Limitless tones and it plays like a dream !!!! I played a lot of other brands but I kept coming back to this one.
Awesome
I love this bass, the neck is beyond comfortable and it sounds amazing. In terms of playability, I prefer it over my 4003, Victory Bass, and Stingray. It's worth every penny.
Learning Bass on the way to 50!
I am not a professional Musician. I have always played music of some kind or another but its always just been something to relieve stress and work out my brain. I decided when I turned 46 I would buy a bass and learn to play. Picked up this impossibly beautiful Fender Jazz bass, my second choice after returning a Fender P-Bass, that I loved, but just felt the Jazz bass was more versatile and would suit my tastes better. If I became a Low End Monstrosity I could always justify the P-Bass later. I love this bass. It is a pleasure just having it in your hands and hearing the great tones that come out of it. The neck is silky and very approachable. It's a simple setup that elicits a lot of variety. It is a lot of fun trying to emulate the sound of a song you're learning or an artist you admire. This bass is up for all of it, I'm just a noob wannabe but it makes graduating to the next levels a fun journey. I think if you wanna learn an instrument you should buy great equipment that you can grow into, it makes the voyage a lot more likely and entertaining the whole way along.
Best
I've bought 3 Ultra's from Sweetwater. I have a ton more Fender basses in my collection but I think these have been the best playing and sounding Fender has put out yet. compared to the older .21 fret AM Deluxe basses, the necks are sooo much better, and the updated preamp make it sound like the most flexible bass Fender has made. I've used the Fender Ultra Jazz Bass on my latest recording, Beatallica "Devolver", released on November 12th, 2021 on Metal Assault Records. Sweetwater has been one of the best resources I've found for a long time.
Best Bass Ever!
Fender Ultra Jazz Bass
5 stars all the way. Finest production bass I ever played. The binding along the neck and finish makes playing smoother and effortless. Love the depth and richness of the tone. Fender did a nice job.
I also want to thank the people at Sweetwater for being so helpful.
Fender Ultra Jazz Bass
What a great improvement from the Deluxe Jazz. The neck is smooth and fast. Very well balanced without neck dive! I highly recommend this bass!
