For My PRS Guitar with Piezo Saddles Installed

By Robert V. from MESA, AZ
Music Background: Performer in a Duo Act

After modifying my PRS Guitar by installing Piezo Saddles and my own designed static tone circuit I needed a Pre-Amp.
I purchased the TC Electronic Impulse for two reasons.
1. To handle the pre-amp requirement.
2. I needed an acoustic IR for a more realistic acoustic guitar sound.
This device is perfect. Now my PRS Custom 24 has the ability to sound like an authentic acoustic guitar.
I can provide a sample of the acoustic sound or answer questions about my design by sending your inquiry robert@musicreflections.net

Great machine

By G-Dawg from Salado, Texas
Music Background: Retired Musician, semi-active recording and sound Tech.

I am very impressed. I've used modeling amps with cab sims but this is truly a great little box. BUT, instructions are incomplete - which jack is the input? Not easy to install the Eminence Impulses. But searching videos helped quite a bit. Using the APP brought in a more concise instruction manual. This is the final stage in my quest to record an all tube amp without the burden of a speaker cabinet.

TC Electronic Impulse IR Loader Pedal

By Marty from ME

So Far, it seems to be something that I could really use. It's not too complex, meaning that you are not constantly bending over for a different sound. I don't think it was really meant for that. You can use two different sounds by remote at a time which is fine, and you can tweak them to your delight.

piezo rescue

By john h. from lafayette, NY
Music Background: performing local gigs

I have a PRS Custom 24 with a piezo in the tailpiece. I tried putting it directly through my mixer using the onboard EQ, low, mid, high. Not an acoustic result. I put it through my Fishman Loudbox, same result. Looked at Fishman and other preamps for acoustic guitars, expensive and still not an acoustic sound. This little in-expensive pedal does the job, it won't fool the ear of a true acoustic player but will absolutely suffice in a live mix. It does make a high pitch scream at a higher volume setting but that is easily compensated by using a low volume setting on the pedal and turning the gain up on the mixer.

Awesome little addition

By Luke C. from Phoenix, AZ

I know a lot of people use these for amps, but I use it for my acoustic guitar. I've used IRs for my acoustic before on my Helix and bought this to use so I could carry less. I compared them side by side, and they were identical. Awesome little pedal. It's an always on for me.

Different doesn't mean better...

By Daniel B. from Molalla, OR
Music Background: Working Drummer turned Analog Studio Owner, Turned Songwriter

This is a weird little box. Ive tried this in 3 configurations.
#1. Fender Tone Master Pro: I tried an input and an effect send. No matter which IR I tried, I was stopped by the inability to blend the input with the IR. These are weird sounding options, especially if you can't control how much of it gets combined with the original signal.
Frequencies are hyped or diminished in unmusical ways. Every one of these needs significant taming to be useful. I wanted much less of the effected signal and much more of the TMP.
Without the ability to blend the signals this is a honky little agitator that changes things too much. If I could have trimmed it by maybe 60 % I may have given a different review.
#2. This little trouble maker, then into a multi effects pedal and then into a 40 watt pedal size guitar amp. This honestly was a bit better and probably useful in a pinch. But again no chance to control the effected signal makes me want to wait for more control and maybe even a real stereo ability. I don't like complaining about gear.
The only thing this could be used for in my world is a hyped gain stage stomp box application where single notes can take off. When I accepted that I was definitely going to return it, I plugged in a hollow body with a p-90 and almost killed some expensive alnicos with brutal feedback. But then you can use many of the distortion choices in the TMP and do most of the same extremes
This product fails because you can't diminish its impact on the signal. This isn't marketed as a fuzz or distortion box. Even the good distortion boxes have blend control.....

The Missing Link in My Board Setup!!!

By KC P. from Lincolnshire, Illinois
Music Background: Longtime hobbyist with G.A.S.!

My band has been using an in-ear monitor setup for practice. I was going from the line out of my amp into the board and could never understand why it always sounded so bad. I got an IMPULSE and a DI box and my problem is SOLVED! Very easy interface. Great variety of options. the app is simple to use on PC and allows for many other IRs of your choosing

I love the pedal platform options for going completely amp-less.

I highly recommend this device if you are looking to go DI or amp-less. Inexpensive and does exactly what I wanted.

Good Modeler

By Chris W. from Jefferson City, MO
Music Background: Bassist, Guitarist, Live Sound Production, Studio Hobbiest

This is a great modeler if you need something simple and straight forward. I use this on acoustic guitar and upright bass with piezo pickups. There are several sources for IRs on the web to suit your needs and loading IRs is very simple and intuitive with the software downloadable from Music Tribe. Tone control is ok, but really not what this pedal is all about…so I give this 4 star. BUT it is a straight forward IR Modeler and it does that very well.

Additional pedal...

By Deryl from Oregon
Music Background: All my life, Christian musician

This pedal is okay although a lot of the cabs sound a lot the same and there is three or four of them that are very different but the main knocked I have on this pedal is there's no off switch so you have to unplug it from the power supply so it would not be good to be on a pedal board...

Really Good for Distortion of all types. Great for guitar. Lots of slots but takes too long to get to the one you want.

By Sweetwater Customer

I use this for multiple instruments and outside of guitar it's ok. However anything with distortion/overdrive sounds amazing. If I'm using my synth and some heavy distortion the IR pedals takes the sound quality to the next level. I experiment using an IR to provide a warmer sound for my wind instruments sometimes.

The master volume knob is super useful. I constantly use it as volume control for my pedal board.

I wish the IR time was longer to accommodate reverbs. Maximum time is 200ms which is great for high fidelity IRs of all types except reverbs. You would need about 500ms minimum to start going into IR reverb territory and ideally 1000ms - 2000ms. The only pedal with longer IR times that I have been able to find for an affordable price is the Zoom IR+ however that pedal looks too complicated and you need an iOS app to load 3rd party IRs. Every other IR pedal has lengths 20ms - 80 etc. So way too short.

The only real compliant is that there are 99 slots but it takes way too long to cycle through the IRs you want. A/B mode only picks between two IRs. Two out of 99 slots....? What were they thinking. I have some pretty freaky experimental IR's but they are in the back because I don't use them often it would be nice to quickly dial them in over mashing the button 35 times for those moments.

This Tiny Beast Is A No Brainer

By Ryan W.

While there are so many good IR pedals that already exist, an option like this is great for when you want to have a really solid IR loader without spending $ I use it on electric guitar so I can play emo post-hardcore music and deathcore music without needing to pull up a DAW so I can practice. It may not be as nice as other pedals that load IRs and more, but for the price you are paying, it's amazing at what it does.

The only downside of this pedal is that it is side jack, but since it is so tiny, I will not hold this against the pedal. If your setup handles all the controls you need post-IR (it does handle EQ in pedal), you will love this pedal. The +12dB of boost also helps with that notable amp breakup sound that many guitarists take advantage of, which makes this pedal so incredible to play.

No longer am I limited by the one amp I have, because I do not have the space, nor financial means, to buying a vintage 100 watt Marshall tube amp and play it without being a noise problem for the entire city.

Tiny Giant IR Loader

By Bill H. from Charlotte, NC
Music Background: Guitarist, bass player, composer and Reverbnation Artist

This little TC pedal is a quick and easy way to load, sample, store and carry your amp speaker IRs. It has simple controls, is solidly built and easy to navigate. It comes preloaded with a collection of IRs, but it's easy to add and load any of your own IRs using TC's free App. It's solidly built with high quality sonics, but it does require a mono line level input, not a speaker level input. It works great in my studio for silent direct recording.

I also found out that it worked surprisingly well in my amps effects loop, giving the amp a nice variety of tones through its own speaker. Check out some of the video demos online to see and hear it in use. I'm pretty impressed given its size, sound, features and price.

Sweet Sounds on my Taylor 816CE and Taylor K14CE

By Don J. from Plano Texas
Music Background: Worship leader, singer songwriter

I was skeptical about the value of a tone altering peddle for my Taylor acoustic electric guitars, but when I combined the IR files from Worship Tutorial on the TC Electronic loader, I was pleasantly surprised at the sweet studio sound I got through our PA.

Great Tool for Recording or Live

By Steve from Queens, NY
Music Background: Bar cover band for 10+ years, bedroom recording artist

Love this compact pedal!
I use the TC Electronic Impulse pedal in two ways:
I have an older multi-effects with a USB out to my computer to record. The multi-effect unit simulates the amp head, but still sounds weird when recording. Using the Impulse in the effects loop of the pedal adds a cabinet/speaker to the sound and really improves the sound tremendously by making it sound like I've micced an amp in the studio to record.
In my band I use an older solid state amp as a pedal platform. Adding the TC Electronic Impulse to the effects loop of the amp allows me to sound like I've plugged in a much higher quality speaker cabinet to my rig and really makes the sound much better in subtle, but noticeable ways at gig volume in a crowded bar.
The two downsides are that it does not simulate an amp head at all- only the cabinet. I also wish the USB Out worked as an input to a DAW.
Fantastic value at this price!!

Impressed with its ability to polish and refine my acoutic guitar live mixes

By Bob M. from NY
Music Background: Semi-pro for over 35 years. Recording geek. bobmaulucci.com.

I bought this primarily for live solo acoustic shows, so while I know you can use this for amp simulation, etc, I use it to load IRs of acoustic guitars to use to amplify my Bourgeois OM and K&K Pure Mini pickup. It gives me a mic'd up sound with no feedback and enough controls to tweak things easily during a set.

It is easy to load IRs in via the app. I don't love the app, but it functions just fine. The first thing I did was back up the pedal via the app, and then I deleted everything from it. I did not find the handful of built it acoustic IRs were great for my set up. Then I loaded my own and some acoustic IRs I have acquired along the way. With a touch of EQ and a cheap Nux Atlantic combo delay/reverb, I got a killer direct sound on literally my first try. I found it helpful to run a looper in front and then I scrolled through the IRs until I found one that sounded best. I made note and then kept at it. When I found the five best ones, I moved them to the top 5 slots, but I kept all the others loaded so as to have them in weird sounding rooms, etc... just in case.

If you use a K&K Pure Mini, I suggest using IRs tagged for SB1, SB2, or SB3. These sound board pickup files in the Impulse really make the direct guitar sound like a mic'd instrument using a condenser mic. Sounds great into a PA and feels good, too. Sometimes a direct tone feels dead, but not this. I don't think it is placebo effect. If you wanted to add acoustic tracks to a quick demo, I don't think you could tell it wasn't mic'd up in a denser mix. By itself, maybe.

Loading IRs is easy. Scrolling using the two buttons is a snap. Pressing both buttons, I can access the subtle EQ settings that I find helpful. I like that the Impulse seems to allow me to use the highest quality IRs and samples lengths. They do sound slightly better through this than they do through my Pod Go because of the Pod Go being limited to 48k and 200ms samples in the IRs. (At least I think so!) The scrolling display is nice because often the file names of the IRs are long. I found it helpful to refine the names a little in the app.

I am sure this will be an excellent way to add an amp or cab sound after a pedal board, but for the purpose I bought it for... it's killer for acoustic IRs in a live setting or for quick demos with a vocal/room mic and a direct input from the Impulse straight into my DAW.

The only thing that would make it better is to have the ability to use a 9v, but the mini pedal format is perfect. Love this pedal.

A very smart or loader for electric violin

By John A. from Minnesota
Music Background: Classically trained violin, keyboard, guitar and bass guitar

TC Electronics IR loader really has helped me enjoy my electric violin. It was very easy to set up and load some it's of Italian violins I found on line. Using the eq tweaks and adjusting some reverb on my amp, I even enjoy practicing again. Matt, was very helpful in my ordering, and had it sent out to me quickly. The candy pack from Sweetwater is always a plus. Thanks Sweetwater.

Simply effective!

By Christopher P. from BEALETON, VA

I tried another popular low-cost IR
for my piezo acoustic-electric to remove some of the quacky piezo electric sound but was not pleased due to a low level hiss and high frequency anomalies it produced. The straw that broke the back was a malfunctioning usb port which prevented using the software and could not update firmware or IR's. I could not reach customer service so I returned it and picked up this unit and am very pleased. I didn't really need the preamp, eq or reverb of the other unit and now have all I need and saved $ as well as space on my pedal board.

It works very well for my needs

By DanR

The TC Electronic Impulse is a simple IR loader. Although I downloaded some free IRs off the 'net, I found the included IRs useful. My only complaint is there is no manual. The quick start guide instructs the user to go to the TC Electronic website for the manual but there is none. There is a 'read me' file that comes with the IR folder but there is no documentation on how to specify the A/B IRs when the A/B mode is selected. I did manage to figure it out messing around with it and I prefer to use the footswitch as an on/off switch. I reordered the IR files so that the most useful IRs to me occupy the first 5 or so slots. I use the Impulse with a Fryette GP/DI and I do occasionally use the onboard analog speaker emulation so the on/off mode is more useful to me. All in all, I'm very happy with the Impulse. It does what it's supposed to do.

Does what it says.

By Abe from Greenwood
Music Background: Guitar Player, 30 years.

This impulse response loader is crazy easy. Plug it into your computer. It will appear as a drive with a folder for each IR. Drag and drop your new IR and off you go!

There is a flaw here and it is this device lacks feedback to the user on signal level. Is input/output clipping? I don't know. Turn the knob down to see it it's better….. Give me a clip light or something, thanks.

Excellent tool for loading 3rd party acoustic and electric instrument IRs

By Len M. from Frederick, MD

Features I like:

Terrific value for the money
Excellent build quality
Can load 3rd party accustic IRs, e.g., from 3 Sigma Audio.
Can easily compare dry and wet output or bypass IRs
Small footprint
Lots of ir slots
Excellent sound quality: create a more acoustic sound from a piezo pickup
Basic 2-band EQ
Great for loading IRs for both ecoustic and electric instruments with piezo pickups. E.g., acoustic guitars, electric violins

Suggestions for use of accoustic IRs:

Locate first in the signal chain (for acoustic not cab IRs)
Use a Boss LS-2 to adjust the dry/wet balance (piezo/IR)) appropriate for your performance venue
For comparing IRs, make sure both EQ settings are at 0
Use for improving sound of piezo instrument audio monitored with IEMs early in the signal chain

Great pedal for what it does. Not everyone needs one

By Simon A. from CHICAGO, IL

I ended up returning mine but I had it on to be able to load up any speaker IR or Acoustic IR depending on my needs on my larger board and expand usage with my HX Stomp. The only issue I had is that there's only one level knob as a master volume which would be fine if I was only using one set of category of IRs. However, acoustic and electric cab IRs are wildly different in levels for use. Would have been better if there was individual level control within the IR settings digitally or within the A/B presets. Same goes for EQ control. Other than that, it did exactly what is was designed to do and if you have a good preamp pedal or want something for your acoustic board, this is a good choice (albeit a little pricey)

Great, affordable first step.

By Tim from Florida

This pedal was my first step into the amp/cab sim world. It's easy to use and takes up little space. My only complaint is the manuel doesn't have a spelled out list of the pre loaded IRs. They do scroll across the pedal face but unless you're an amp/cab expert it's a little confusing. Having said that, if you want to delve into the IR world without spending $, this pedal is a good place to start.

So much value for such little investment

By Ed D. from PORTLAND, OR

In addition to the myriad of supplied IRs the peddle came with, I added another 30 or so very good free ones that are ubiquitous on the web. It took only minutes to assemble an array of IR files that filled my needs for the time. I love the A/B button feature and use it to toggle between a clean sound and a "dirty" sound, with the ACU D28 being my preferred clean sound. It works well with my mostly TC Electronix rig, and adding a compressor and Mojo overdrive makes for a lovely range of tones. Does it rival a $ studio amp and cabinet modeler? Probably not. But at just over a C note, it is perfect for my home recording and rare live performances.

Great!

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: 40+

Typical TC Electronic build quality, simple operation, great sound-quality... IR management application simply works as expected... I mainly use it for putting meat-on-the-bone for my thin-body acoustic-electric guitar with a great sounding acoustic guitar impulse response... I load it a variety of variations... When not used in my acoustic rig, it will serve very well for cab/amp impulse responses in my electric rig...

Amazing pedal for someone wanting to go straight into their audio interface!

By Neal from Upstate NY
Music Background: Beginner

I have only been playing guitar for about a year and a half but the whole time I've been looking for a way to get the sound I'm looking for to get me hyped on practice (I'm learning mostly metal so I wanted a heavy chug). I have a nice combo amp but I felt that running it with various pedals was hit and miss and not really getting me the desired sound.

Then I got a good pre amp pedal geared towards heavy gain, ran it into this pedal and then ran that straight into my computers audio interface's direct guitar in and BAM ! . I got the sound I've been looking for since I started coming through my monitors.

I HIGHLY recommend this pedal for anyone looking for a simple and affordable solution to a great tone to practice at home. The only other thing you will need is a preamp pedal and some IR's that suit your taste.

A flash drive for IRs that happens to have an excellent IR loader!

By Michael H. from Seymour, TN

I love gadget pedals that have some use. This worked so well, I ordered a second one so I can have a second mic placement impulse or room mic without merging impulses. It sounds better, especially if you run a DI rig most of the time, or use a small wattage amp with a mic. This "gadget" is gig-worthy. I recommended it to a friend who carries a spare amp (rymes with box) everywhere. Now he's switching to a lunchbox amp and a DI pedal board for his backup. He's had both main and spare fail during a gig. For those of you that do long road tours and don't want to lug around a spare cabinet or speakers, this is an excellent option. I'm currently using mine for a couple of oddball tube amps that only sound great when cranked, so I coupled this with a reactive load box, into a pre-amp (where old interfaces go to die) then into the impulse pedal(s). I also put a reverb and delay in front of it for a poor-man's effects loop. My old Fender Vaporizer has never sounded so good. This pedal was key to working my tube monsters back into rotation. I love new gear that allows me to use my old gear.

awesome little helper

By michael from MD
Music Background: home studio musician

Just got this little guy to assist my multi effect tc electronics plethroa x5, and was very surprised at the tone it added. Having a cab after the effects unit made a huge difference in sound. The impulse comes with a host IR presets, and has a ton of room for more. Custom or 3rd party IRs are all loadable. This is a must for a peadal board in need of a cab, nad some presets have amp and cab combined !

The missing piece

By Brian C. from MS

If you're looking for an IR loader pedal you've no doubt struggled to get a good guitar sound recorded. Few of us have the luxury of cranking our tube amps or SS amps loud enough, and using a microphone to capture the desired sounds. I've tried so many different ways to get a good guitar sound recorded but until recently have always struggled to come up with something that is more than just passable and can sound great solo'd. My Johnson J Station has its merits, as does my Pod Go Wireless, but they just weren't quite what I was after. The TC Impulse IR loaded pedal was the missing piece for me. Out of curiosity I decided to hook this pedal up to my Behringer TM300 pedal and the results are pretty dang good. It's amazing that for these two pedals I'm able to get some really good sounds recorded.

Great IR and Amp Sim - Here are the settings and a couple of tips

By Bobby from Nashville
Music Background: 40 years playing guitar, spent time at Berklee, etc.

So, this is an IR and a Cab Sim/IR all in one, with Celestion branded speaker IR's. Small footprint, and great sound like many of the TC pedals of old. Lots of extra preset IR slots, but I've found the factory-loaded 20 presets for amps and 5 for acoustics are all I generally need. The one thing that's difficult is that it does not have good instructions in the quick start manual -- instead, you have to plug it into your computer via the attached cable to see the full manual in notes. The A/B function is also very cool. The manual doesn't tell you how to choose your A/B, so here's the easy button - put it on A, scroll to your fave preset; put it on B, scroll to your other fave preset. It remembers those when you do A/B, until you change them.

Great pedal, and this is not a budget sound. Hey TC - how about some artist toneprints for this one?

Handy little device

By Scott from Dothan, Alabama

I had previously been using an AxeFXIII for all my IR loading, but I have since moved back to amps/load boxes and pedals…I wanted a simple IR loader that sounded great,So I tried the TC Impulse…it's greatest feature for me,was it will load and playback full 200ms IR's..Most of these things will chop the length down to 20 to 40ms,but the Impulse gives you the full IR…The Editor is super easy to load your own IR's…I will say that I did not like a single factory IR that it comes loaded with…They sounded thin and harsh..The ones with the added power amp sim sounded terrible,so I replaced them all with my own 3rd party IR's….it handles line level signals from a load box like a champ,it's small, and the display is cool….If you just want a no frills IR loader that won't take up much space,it's hard to beat the Impulse…The Two Notes Cab M is still the one to beat in my opinion, but if just want the basics, for not much cash, you can't go wrong with the TC Impulse….

Great IR for my acoustic pedal board!

By Jeff S. from Wilmington NC
Music Background: Singer/Songwriter, worship leader

I have been looking for a way to make my acoustic pizeo pickup sound more natural. I added this and downloaded some IR files with the handy computer app that goes with it. I have been very happy with the results! Even though I purchased some IT files from a 3rd party, my favorite one is one that came with the pedal. If you're looking to make your pickup sound more natural like a microphone I highly recommend this pedal!

A Good Tool for Getting Into Guitar/Bass Cabs IR

By JHT from New York, NY

Although I've played guitar and bass for decades and have co-owned a high-end project studio for 8+ years, I'm quite new in using IR's as a replacement for miked amps and/or DI's. However, I am TOTALLY sold on using the technology to achieve stellar guitar and bass tones so long as you have good quality IRs to load into your platform of choice. I'm a real believer in getting a great basic tone in recording the performance in real time.

I use the Mesa Boogie Cab Clone IR for recording my guitar amps but I got this pedal for my Two Notes Le Bass preamp. To my surprise, TC includes only ONE bass cab; however, I had previously purchased an IR pack of various Eden, Mesa Boogie, etc. bass cabs. The TC bass cab was OK but I preferred my 3rd party bass IR's right out of the box. I tried a couple of the guitar cabs with my Synergy SYN-1 and Synergy's T/DXL module. Again, I preferred my 3rd-party IR's.

I was most impressed with the 5 or so Acoustic Guitar IR's. They gave my piezo-equipped, slim-bodied Yamaha Acoustic/electric guitar a very convincing mic'ed acoustic sound, particularly the "Acu D28" IR. Added my UAD Ocean Way plug-in for a studio room sound and wow -- really quite happy.

The pedal itself is fairly easy to use and the app to load your own IR's does the job, though it is super-basic. I'd like to see a more robust app and additional features added. For example, it would be nice to be able to blend IR's within the pedal. Two outputs would have been nice too, though I guess that TC would not have been able to reach its desired price point.

It is important to note that you cannot use this pedal alone with a real combo amp or amp head. It does NOT have a load box feature included. If you add a load box to the party, you may also have to convert the signal from line level to hi-Z.

This pedal does what it does perfectly fine.

Necessary for Piezo Equipped Guitars

By Ehrin from NY
Music Background: Pro Musician

I use this to augment the piezo sound of my electric guitar and it is amazing. I was able to load a custom IR I made from my favorite acoustic and it takes the thin piezo sound from my electric and makes it sound really close to my favorite acoustic. I run this into a Radial Piezo DI and then to FOH where they add a little verb and I have an amazing acoustic sound every night. If you have a piezo equipped electric, or are just looking for a great way to make your plugged in acoustic sound better, get this pedal.

Compliments and Cut through the Mix

By LA from MN

Nice addition to most pedalboards, amps, and various pedal platforms. The size, quality, sounds, and simple EQ functionality allows a lot of room for exploration. Using the device as a on/off or A/B is an excellent thought out feature. With the proper settings this pedal can be used as boost with EQ, rhythm to lead, or AC simulator. There's really near zero effort to learning the device. Overall a good investment for enhancements to most musician's rigs.

Ir loader......

By Wally
Music Background: Duffer....old Duffer!

Very simple to use and get a sound you like. I can't say it's easy to understand the way it works but I'm more interested in results than the results than the tech aspects. As the tech gets more wide spread I think more people will grasp the way it works a lot better than I do.
It's enough to me to just audition a few consistent sounds and find what I want to use on a given day through a certain amp or interface P.A. system to achieve what sounds good to me. As time goes on I'll learn more about it. Right now it just gives me more choices to use without the hassle of tweaking the amp, mics, etc. When I just want to plug and play .
What I'm a bit miffed by TC is their policy about documentation on their products included in the box. They give you enough to make it work but you need to immediately go online and sift through several confusing sites to get info about making features work instead of a readable manual you can refer to. They build great gear but without any documentation to delve into the fine points you spend too much time learning the ins and outs of your new gear. Reading through incomplete websites is confusing at best. Great gear but jumping into the YouTube rabbit hole for hours is not my idea of a good time ......

Size, Quality, Sound

By LA from MN
Music Background: Professional/Experienced

I tried this on several amps and was pleasantly surprised. A lot of functionality for the price and footprint. I like the quick EQ access and A/B or On/Off function. Sounds great for size and easy of usage. My only complaint is you need third party software for IR configurations.

Other similarly priced items do so much more.

By Sweetwater Customer

As an IR Loader, there are other units on the market that cost the same, yet have eq control built in. Also, there is no ability to adjust the IR even within the software. Size is great for an already crammed pedalboard.

Always On Pedal

By George L. from Lebanon, Oregon
Music Background: 50 Plus years guitar and some keys & harmonica

The TC IR Loader along with a preamp boost are my always on pedals. While the pre sets the stage and opens up the tone of my pedals, the IR Loader puts on the finishing touches at the end of my chain with it's mic, cab, & room polish. At this price, don't even hesitate if you think an IR Loader is for you.

Love it!

This little pedal is wonderful. Super easy to load with dozens of IRs and works like a charm. The EQ is also effective and sounds goods. I'm using it on an acoustic guitar pedalboard.

Almost there, Maybe perfect after a firmware update.

By Jeremy from Elkhart
Music Background: Guitar, Producing, Mixing

The preloaded IRs sound really great.

1 star is deducted because when I loaded up some of my favorite Mesa Ownhammer IRs they tend to lose a bit of definition compared to when the IRs are loaded straight from my DAWs built in IR loader. I'm not sure if they are downsampling the IRs I have but there is a noticeable reduction in quality.

I think a firmware update may solve this eventually but for now I'm sticking to the preinstalled celestion IRs. As I stated before the built in IRs are very good and more than usable, I would recommend it just for those.

Now lets hope for a firmware update to solve my main grip about this unit.

Awesome Addition to the Board

By Peter P. from Gatineau

After I ordered this I was a bit concerned I had fallen for 'guitar player marketing' but this thing is awesome. The way the different IRs shape your tone is really cool, can't recommend these enough.

Great addition to my home studio

By Norm from Tampa, FL
Music Background: Been playing guitar for 50 years.

A bunch of great tone options to use while recording. I use it with a modeling amp. The amp models are good, but the Impulse make them great. I am very happy with the pedal, and the great service from Reid Bright and Sweetwater.

Instant Gratification!

By John H. from Athens, GA

Got this today and upon arrival I plugged it into my computer, downloaded the loading software and manual from TC's homepage and within moments it was ready for my board. I run a BluGuitar Amp 1, Strymon Iridium, and Origin Effects RevivalDrive Compact, all of which give me the great amp sounds I want and this IR loader gives me so many coveted speaker sounds. Easy to use, great documentation, and super easy software to use. I couldn't be happier!

Still has bugs

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: 50+ years of making music

I got this pedal yesterday and I have tried it into a PA, into and amp, and into a powered speaker. It made my pedalboard sound like it was into different cabinets just like it should. It made my Taylor sound like a different guitar. I am waiting for a new preamp pedal so I can run it to my Tascam SD32SD. I am expecting great things.

It does not come with a manual and it is not available on their website, however, when you plug it into a computer a READ ME file comes up and it is the manual. It tells you to go to their website and download the app for Windows. I did. It is not actually an app for Windows, and it doesn't load into Windows like a normal Windows app. It is a standalone app like for a phone, and at this point it doesn't actually work yet. It tries to access the Impulse and immediately fails each time. I'm hoping for updates or an app that works within Windows 10. This pedal was just released, so it is perhaps still in its beta stage? You can still load IR files manually as I did. The manual also makes mention of more files available on their product page, but there are none so far. I also expect this to change in the months to come.

It is actually a surprisingly tiny pedal, and it is super easy to operate once you access the manual. I will be using it for recording mostly. Overall, this is a nice little pedal that does what it should and it sounds great. I might leave an updated review after TC Electronic gets things worked out with the software. If not for that, it would be a solid 5 stars.

When your tired of tweaking and just want to play

By Sweetwater Customer from TX
Music Background: 30+ years

Sold my two notes and grabbed this. Very happy. Just was tired of tweaking - bc I had no idea what I was doing on the wall of sound. I'm not recording just playing with headphone at Night - Maybe ill grab an FRFR one day... Was going to grab the blubox, but I like that you can always add IR'to TC. It's simple, straight forward. Sounds great to me. Only thing I would say is - I am going from the XLR out of my Q-Strip EQ in my effects loop into this - out of my Bluguitar Amp 1. I am not sure if you can use the speak out like others - and if not how this works with multi-channel amps...

Just what I needed!

By Brent from Bermuda Dunes CA
Music Background: Fusion, Blues and Rock

I bought this little jem the day it was released. The moment it was available I bought it. It is exactly what I needed.
I am an apartment dweller and unable to crank my amp. To remedy this I bought a Two-Notes Torpedo Captor. It is amazing, except for one thing-the speaker simulation. The speaker sim isn't bad, per se, but it's nothing special. I tried the Wall of Sound plug-in from Two-Notes but it didn't work out for me. That's where this little monster came in.
This IR loader is truly plug and play. It's literally the easiest pedal to use that I've ever had. And it sounds amazing. The included Celestion IRs are very good. They "feel" right as well. The sound of the Greenbacks are quite impressive and realistic. For now, I'm using it for direct recording. I don't know what it will sound like through a P.A., but I suspect it will shine there as well. If you need an IR loader but don't want to fiddle with software, get this. There are more expensive IR loaders out there that offer more options, but for the money you can't beat this little thing.
