Got these for me and the drummer for our vocal mics. Took me a minute to figure out they're powered by phantom power (probably an ID10T error on my part...) but once I got it going, they're pretty dummy-proof. The first one I received, the output connector became intermittent. Sweetwater took care of me and sent a replacement right away. New one received and works great. I like the indicator light that shows when you're in range. If you're reading this, you already know you need one. Just grab it.

Our team finds that the D'Addario IR Mic Mute Infrared Mic Sensor is a major improvement over our previous mic mute. Competitively priced, we will always go with Sweetwater.
However, I find working with A.J. is nothing to be silent about. In today's climate, his customer service is unexpected. He is always available when I have questions and makes follow up calls in a timely manner.

Having a few talkback mics setup around our stage (specifically in the drum cage) has really improved our flow during services - being able to communicate with the team on the spot without a bunch of extra channels' worth of mic bleed always in our ears has been fantastic!

Works as advertised, huge difference with our stage volume and cleaner in-ear mix!

I bought this mainly for a live drummers vocal mic. Once this is dialed in, while playing the drums, it works really well to stop extra bleed into the vocal mic. Of course, all vocal mics on stage not being used are glorified drum overheads and gating has worked well, but this is great in my opinion for a drummer as the drummer becomes the gate themselves.

I bought these to use primarily in my band's rehearsal space. It's a 2-car garage with very reflective walls. I record all of our rehearsals, and I was having extreme difficulty with cymbals and high hats bleeding through vocal mics.
After about a minute dialing in the sensitivity, they worked like a charm. In fact, we decided to bring them to gigs for the same reasons. My sound engineer was skeptical because he feared hearing an audible pop when the mute kicked in or out. His fears were quickly put to rest after the first soundcheck. He was thrilled with the results, and we continue to use them all the time.
I can't think of an easier or more cost-effective way to nearly eliminate bleed thru vocal mics.

As simple as it gets, at a great price. Has worked nearly flawlessly for all singers/talkback users I used them on, especially once you get the distance dialed in. Very convenient to have the adjustment easily accessible, and the override switch in case the user is having issues. Great buy!

Something like this may seem like a gimmick but this simple add on actually works. I recently used it as an auto-mute for the lead of a small band. He played a wind instrument but MC'd between songs. This was perfect to avoid phase issues with his instrument mic, which separate from the MC mic.

I have two uses for this: first, as a hobby bass player I sing background vox. Now, when I step away the drums don't bleed into my mic and my IEM mix has gotten 100% clearer.

As a pro monitor engineer, I use this on my talkback. Lean in, talk, move away and it's off. So much better than having to find my TB fader to communicate.

My only gripe is that I wish the adjustment wheel was detected or clicked into place.

I play in 2 working bands one is strictly " in ears " the other is amps on stage. An I've always had a problem with mic bleed over in my ears from other instruments on stage. This product really helps with that issue.

I was looking for a way to silence a drummer's vocal mic when he wasn't singing so I have snare bleed all over the vocal channel.
A gate on the channel was just too choppy and a foot-operated mute switch was not practical.
This solved my issue and so far is a consistent way to open and close the mic when the drummer leans in to sing.
Easy to operate but you need to pay attention to mic and boom placement.

Works great, plug and play. Using it to keep the fiddle player's vocal mic muted until she sings (no violin leakage). Haven't tried it live yet but from our tests it will do the job.

This is one of those rare items whereby as soon as I got D'Addario's email announcing it, I knew I had to have it. For my use: I play in a 5 piece rock cover band which uses 4 (sometimes 5) Bose line-array systems behind us. Depending on stage size and room acoustics, feedback can sometimes be an issue. Usually a small issue, but an annoyance nevertheless. Well this Mic Mute pretty much completely eliminates that!

Very easy to setup and dial in. Be aware that you must have phantom power. Also know that if you're using a regular dynamic mic, supplying phantom power to the Mic Mute will not affect the mic. Alternatively, if you use a condenser mic then phantom power will power both your mic and the Mic Mute.

The next thing to note is that there is a very small delay when your signal is turning on and off. It's probably no more than half a second. In my first live use of Mic Mute I found that I had to give the unit just a fraction of a second to engage. 99% of the time this was no issue for me, but once or twice I leaned back from my mic to do a quick guitar fill and when leaning back in to sing, Mic Mute took a split second to re-engage. Now that I know this, I can adjust.

Our other guitarist/keyboardist in the band has a Mic Mute and hopefully soon our bassist will acquire one. For our use, this should really clean up our sound even more than it already was! Clients always praise the clean, clear sound we get with our Bose systems, but Mic Mute will just take it up another notch!

This is a game changer! First of all, the item arrived as specified and boxed safe and sound. I almost doubted the hype and felt the too good to be true feeling - until I actually tried the D'Addario Mic Mute Sensor.
