Great for beginners in the DMX realm!

By Brandon E. from Stockton, IL
Music Background: Mobile DJ, Former LD

I bought these because of the price to add some moving lights to my mobile DJ rig. After running it through soundswitch, I figured out how much fun these are to run! I typically use wireless DMX, but I run a DMX cord from yo the other and reverse the pan on the slaved unit.

ONE THING I DO WANT TO MENTION*** I have noticed the tilt slightly going out of sync with both units. I set up a scene that kills the spots and they go to their resting positions. After a few seconds, I turn em back on and they sync back up right away.

Great entrance to movers

By Rein from MECHANICSBURG, PA

Good for first movers on a budget. Does all you'd expect but not as bright as I'd hope but obviousReinly room for improvement.

Entry level moving head - does all I need, but some caveats about the light you should be aware of.

By Spencer H. from Cookson, OK
Music Background: No musical background, just a tech guy.

I have had four of these lights for a little over a year. These lights are installed in an airplane hangar, on a truss suspended from the ceiling. The lights hang upside down, using standard truss mounting brackets and safety wires. The lights operate exactly the way a moving head light should, fully DMX control of all features, either basic or advanced, depending on how many channels you want to set for each light. Gobos work well and colors and light intensity match great.

If you are looking for your first moving head lights to experiment with, I highly recommend these. The only reason that I didn't give these 5 stars is that after 1 year of operation, I have one light where the LED light source went out on me, and I have another light where a belt started to slip a bit. Sweetwater and Chauvet support were awesome on both. I was nervous because even though these have a 2 year warranty, I think we have all experienced the headaches of having to deal with those kinds of issues. I opened my ticket with Sweetwater at 10am on a Tuesday, we did some escalation with Chauvet, and I had two replacement lights being sent to me by 2pm on the same day.

My thought on this light is, if you are new to this and you aren't looking to use them for things you are getting paid to deliver, but are more like me, wanting to give your shop, garage, man cave, something like that a supercool vibe, these are awesome. You may experience some issues, but the 2 year warranty is real and Sweetwater and Chauvet make dealing with them painless. My intention is to keep on running these, but once I have an issue past warranty expiration, I'll probably upgrade to the Chauvet 160 or 260.

These little guys are fun

By ALL I. from Fond du lac, Wi
Music Background: I have been doing this since 1974.

They don't do everything the bigger movers do, but they do enough to make our stage look cooler. I am very happy with them. They are lightweight, bright enough, and they program like all the others. Nice job Chauvet...

Quality good instructions lacking

By Scott

While I am please with the initial overall quality; being a novice with lighting gear I found the instructions to be lacking in detail. Their website is geared towards professionals. A simple tutorial video would have been very helpful.

Moves well, but dim and hard to figure out

By Rancho A. from SoCal

This is a fun unit at a bargain price that adds motion in a cool way. The light itself, even set to maximum, is dim. Works OK for my great room (kitchen) but I couldn't see using this in anything larger. I would give this unit one more star if it was easier to figure out how to operate. It comes with no users manual, and the one you can download is indecipherable unless you are WELL experienced. However, I called customer service and the tech taught me how to use it.

Great choice for a small rig

By adam c.
Music Background: Amateur LD

This is an excellent spot for the money, provided you are lighting smaller stages. I run lights at a small bar and if you get some haze going they are more than visible in the air. Brightness wise they hold their own in a sea of par washes. Good color and gobo selections make for plenty of different combinations, and they are quick too! Initially I had two and after my first gig with them ordered two more. A game changer in a small rig.
