Dynamic Laptop Stand with Angle-adjustable Telescoping Support Arms and QuickRelease Center Post

The Ultimate Support HyperMount QR dynamic laptop stand lets you achieve ergonomic perfection by placing your laptop where you need it. The HyperMount QR mounts to any 5/8" threaded stand, such as a mic stand or an Ultimate Support APEX AX-48 Pro keyboard stand. But it also sits pretty on your desktop with the included T-stand adapter. The QuickRelease center post makes it a snap to connect or disconnect it from a mic stand. While strong enough to safely hold your laptop and other small electronics, the Ultimate Support HyperMount QR also folds up and fits in your backpack.

Buyer Beware

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: Student

So I thought I would give those comrades in the Music Industry a cautionary warning regarding this product. So I recently received a replacement gear due to the poor quality I received it. Nothing against my friends @SW but perhaps the manufacturer. I was in the process of setting up my MPC XL on the Ultimate Support dual tier Keyboard Stand hoping it would be able to support the weight of the XL. Well I never made it to the second step of placing my XL on the stand. I am glad I didn't the stand would not lock in place, brand spanking new and the locking mechanism would not lock in place, thereby not allowing me to check what type of support it has.

Works, despite design flaws

By Brennan from Alexandria, VA

I bought this to mount a laptop to the top of my Ultimate Support Apex. I had/have no interest in using it with the t-stand on a desktop. The purpose of the QuickRelease center post is supposedly to allow easy connect/disconnect from a stand, but I have two issues with this. First, the QuickRelease feature is not necessary, since the laptop is not clamped to the stand in the back, only supported by the two "ears" on the rear of the support arms, as shown in the photo. Removing the laptop is as easy as lifting it off the stand. Second, as other reviewers have noted, the design of the QuickRelease allows about a half inch of side-to-side movement. Not a show-stopper, but certainly an annoyance. If the QuickRelease had been designed as an OPTION, like the t-stand, my rating would be higher. Additionally, rear side clamps (adjustable for pads), and not just "ears," together would warrant five-stars.

Seemed like a good idea

By Sweetwater Customer

I got this new stand since I wanted something a little better for my MacBook Pro on my Apex keyboard stand. When I first got I was very happy and saw that there was a quick disconnect with it, which I thought was a great idea...until I put it on the stand and put my MacBook in it. There is a lot of play in the disconnect and it feel a little disconcerting how much it moves. I am hoping that the holders will keep it secure enough and I won't end up with the MacBook on the floor one. day.

It's A Winner

By Clyde P. from Rochester, IL

Bought this to put my Faderport 8 on a mic stand next to my desk. It's made well and the fit is perfect. I'd like to have another.

Pretty Flimsy

By Sweetwater Customer from ID

I thought it would be pretty convenient but the quick lock system is really shaky. It does not hold either a laptop or in my case an APC40MkII very well. It 'does' hold it, but the whole platform moves around a lot. Oh, and there's an adapter that isn't listed that you'll need as well, and even with that screwed in as tight as it will go, the whole stand has quite a bit of play in it. No way you could push a button without it spinning slightly left or right. Definitely would not recommend. The only reason I'm keeping it is because we are using it as a prop in a video. In a real world application it would be useless.

It's okay

As some reviews said, there is some give and take on the mount it's self so personally, I wouldn't trust putting a laptop on it.

Overall Solid with a Few Glitches

By Stacey G. from Portland, Maine

I do not use a laptop in my set up, so I utilize this stand for my iPad, as an extension of my keyboard dual tiered stand. It's not super easy to place the iPad into it and then remove it; some easier quick open and close clips would have been a nice feature. Moreover, I find it impossible to completely lock it down, as there's always a little bit of give and play in it. It does not seem to fully and entirely lock down, and I've tried multiple ways, but to no avail. Still, it allows me to use my iPad as another keyboard/synthesizer, and looks terrific on top of my other units on that particular stand. definitely a useful product, if not perfectly designed.

Simply the Best

By Cooper from Tennessee

I"m using this with my 3rd generation iPad 12.9" to remotely control my mixer during live performances. I tried some of the other tablet holders, but there are times I need to take my iPad from the holder and walk away from the stage, the other holder were just too hard to when it come to releasing it from the holder. This was an awesome upgrade from what I was using. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Use it anywhere!

By Patrick from East Tennessee

The Hypermount QR securely holds my laptop in any situation I need. It works great on a desktop, mic stand, and on top of my ultimate support key board stand.

Ultimate!

By jRb from Florida

Great addition to my Apex. Love the range of adjustment. I can fit, snuggly, my Alesis IO Dock or my MacBook Pro 17" laptop very securely.

I love the ease of attachment and the doubling as a table top stand.

Lining up the mount, center line with the stand was a bit tricky, and it has some play in it so sometimes any left or right pressure makes the mount shift the opposite direction about a quarter inch. I'm wondering if I can use the adjustment ring to counter and to stabilize. So far no, and that means it always has a little bit of play left and right. Otherwise it's perfection.

Just purchased my third one

By Robert H. from Waxhaw, NC
Music Background: Keyboard player for Weddington United Methodist Church 10:10 Praise Band

In my opinion this is the best-designed laptop support for a keyboard player. My live rig includes a two tiers of keyboards (I also use an Ultimate stand for my keys) plus a MacBook Pro for my sounds and a Livid DS1 for live control of my sounds.

I wanted to have the Livid DS1 come over the top of my second keyboard, but most stands are too short and they get in the way. I have my support mounted on an Atlas mic stand with a heavy 12-inch base so it is rock solid, and you can adjust to any height, limited only by the height of the mic stand. The stand sits just behind my keyboards and the DS1 comes over my top keyboard in just the right spot to tweak knobs and sliders during the performance.

The arms adjust to the size of the device; the angle is adjustable and does not move once you get it set up; the rear tabs keep the laptop from sliding off the back. There is nothing to come over the top to hold the laptop down but if there was it wouldn't work with the DS1. There are square brackets on the end of the arms to help keep the device from moving, and there are tacky grips on the arms. I have never worried about the laptop falling off.

I can see using this with a wide range of MIDI controllers up to roughly 12.5 to 13-inches in depth, 2.5 inches tall, and maybe 19 inches wide. You're not really limited in width other than the fact that the arms are about 9.5 inches apart, so if your device is too wide it won't have good support under the ends.

I originally got one for my MacBook Pro but I bought the second one for the DS1 and I am getting two more to keep at the church where I play.

Highly recommend these Ultimate laptop supports.

The perfect solution for a 3rd keyboard!

By David L. from Fresno, CA
Music Background: Weekend warrior

I currently use the Ultimate Support in 2 gigging bands and have only been able to use 2 keyboards at any one time. I was trying to figure out a way to use my Roland GAIA for both bands but never wanted to get the third tier for my stand. I also didn't want to to use an additional stand, so the idea of using the GAIA was pretty much ruled out.

THEN THIS! Saw this item at NAMM this year and thought oh boy! While advertised as a notebook stand, I put pressure on it, laid on it pretty hard and realized this would probably be perfect for my GAIA (8 lbs). I checked with the manufacture and my Sweet Water rep did some checking and it was concluded it should work.

Received the unit (really quickly, Sweet Water rocks!), took off my boom mic mount and put this on. It fit fine over my top keyboard and then I put the GAIA on it. With the bottom arms extended all the way and the back tabs pointed up (exactly as pictured), the GAIA fits perfectly! It's as though this was made just for it and oh, by the way you can put a laptop on it.

I should point out, it's rated for 10 lbs and the GAIA is my only keyboard I'd ever put on it. The GAIA is a light keyboard that doesn't require much force for the keys. For a laptop, this would be perfect!

Safe and Secure

By Jon B. from Hope, IN

Fantastic. I waited about a month for these to come back in stock, and got notification they were once again available the night before I had a show. I ordered one and have it overnighted to me. (A fact which I would be so glad for after using it for just one time)

In the midst of one song, I spun to my right and promptly clocked my MacBook Pro with the headstock of my guitar. Let me be clear, I hit it VERY hard! My MacBook Pro stayed firmly secured in the mount, and the mic stand I had it mounted to stayed perfectly upright.

The only adverse effect was my firewire cable came unplugged. However, because my laptop was still upright and in good shape, I was able to reconnect my firewire and fire my loops back up while the rest of the band wrapped up the song and worked the crowed. It worked out so well, I think the crowed was minimally aware of the issue. (if they knew anything happened at all)

Almost exactly what I needed

By Miguel from Northern California
Music Background: Music Director, keyboardist, arranger

Mounts nicely to mic stand. Snugly holds my beloved MacBook Pro. If you plan on mounting to mic stand, as I did, be VERY careful if you use a 3 legged mic stand. It extends my laptop out enough such that it easily tips. Not balanced. Careful positioning of legs do help, but I'd keep an eye on it just in case. Possible solution would be to use a weighted circular mic stand base - which I plan on doing.

Good Solution

By Kevin from Arlington Heights IL
Music Background: Musician

This support works just fine on my mic stand. It is a reasonable solution to a portability problem. I use it with a mac book pro that has the Fishman Triple Play system. I am relatively sure that it provides an amount of security for my computer but not 100% sure which is why I rated it as 4 stars instead of 5. The telescoping arms keep the laptop snug but lateral motion is questionable.
