great drum mat!
this is by far the best drum rug ive ever used. its a bit heavy but that helps with sound isolation. must have for a working drummer.
Yes
I was nervous as most are about a $... piece of carpet but when it came, I saw and felt how well made it was and knew I'd made a great Choice. This thing definitely is worth your money no joke.
Seems like it works!
I bought this rug with hesitation ($$$), and I used it for the first time at a gig this past Friday. The gig was indoor, and the floor is tile, so it is a very reflective room. I've played this bar probably hundreds of times. This rug worked like it says it does. My sound was indeed tighter, and there was clear separation with the different parts of the drumset. Of course, it didn't take away the general reflectiveness of the room, but the sound I was hearing from my playing perspective was tight and nice. I'm happy after one gig. Let's see how this thing pans out.
I was skeptical, but wow!
I lead worship on a giant hollow box of a stage in an 60 year old hall of a sanctuary. When our sound guy reccommended getting an Auralex Hover Mat, I was all for it until I saw the price. We already had the drums on a rug, and I was skeptical that simply getting a different rug could make that much of a difference, BUT it does. Since we've implemented the mat, we've reduced the over all volume of our services by 6 dB's (we had been mixing up to the volume of the drums) and have a much cleaner, controlled sound in our services.
Auralex Mat as Flooring
I used six of the Auralex mats side by side as flooring in my studio. They are an easy vacuum and provide a neat & clean appearance. It remains to be seen how they wear. Of the seven mats that I have, one was poorly cut, meaning it was actually more than two inches larger than the others and not perfectly "square." That probably won't matter in typical applications. I did receive one mat that was defective out of the box, the rubber base of the mat had already detached from the "carpet" material along one edge, creating a hazard and worse (lol) leaving an unsightly edge. Hopefully, that will not prove to be a continuing issue for the mats as they wear over time. I like the look and have significant Auralex pieces that I am happy with.
A Majic Carpet
I was hoping that with our small budget this purchase would be worth the price.
After our first rehearsal song I looked at our worship leader and knew he heard the same thing on stage as I did 70' away. Or I should say what I didn't hear. The rumble was gone on stage and the "tightness" as I remixed the drums was amazing.
All commercial sound treatment is pricey but when it does more than you expect it is well worth it.

HoverMat
Works well. Not to heavy. Not sure if they worked with any drummers when they put this together because the size is not what most drummers are used to but hey it does what they claim.
Heavy duty but the kick pedal slips constantly, total fail.
I'm using the Roland V-Drums TD-07KVX and the kick pedal will not stay put, just shreds the carpet. I'm using this on a brand new wood floor so I do not want to use the spikes more than I am. Total waste of money on this.
Slick and Heavy
The title pretty much sums up my feelings about this drum rug. I got it because I play a variety of indoor and outdoor venues and I figured the rubber bottom would give me a more consistent sound. The only consistent I've had is needing to pull my bass drum back every 3-4 songs. I've been playing for 30+ years on a vestibule rug and never had this issue. Before you assume I don't know what I'm doing, yes, I'm using both the spikes on the pedal and on the spurs and yes, everything is set up as it's supposed to be. The size is great. The weight is understandable considering the rubber backing. Needing to reposition my drums every few songs is unacceptable.
