Great function, no downside
I used another product like this that required AC or battery power. It was fine, but added some annoyance always having to run power cord or change a battery. This Hotshot is awesome. No noise in the system when switching between channels, no external power requirement, and great ease of use.
I use it on carpet and found it a bit slippery to the floor, but I just stuck a couple strips of velcro (the rough side) to the bottom and it doesn't slip on me at all.
Radial is the best solution for every stage situation!!
Radial is the truth in the stage and studio all the time for house of worship!
Hot Shot DM1
I play keyboards with my church praise team and I use a headset mic. When you have that sudden urge to go into a coughing fit, there's pretty much no way of blocking your mic without making a ton of noise. I've been looking for something like this to mute myself. It's hard for my sound guy to see all the way from the balcony when I'm trying to signal him to mute me. Now, I can just step on the toggle and cough my way into oblivion. It's wonderful too....no noise, no "pop" or "click" sound ...just pure, clean, unadulterated coughing-fit silence. It's also great to connect another cable from output 2 and run to just your in-ears so you can communicate with the group without the congregation hearing what you're saying...like,"Do you not HEAR the click?"...or "what a wonderful use of semitones....could you sing that any flatter?"..or
"Ok...who just crop dusted me?....you realize I can't move...right?"......ah....its all for the Glory.
But seriously, this is the pedal I've been looking for. Fantastic. I love the weight too. Solid, stays put. You can feel the quality. A Must-Have for keyboard players...or anyone singing that needs to mute themselves periodically.
I Love This Pedal
The Hot Shot pedal works as advertised. Plug in your mic, and run two cords out to your snake - one for front of house, and one for communicating with the band via in-ears. The switch is a super solid momentary contact switch so you never have to worry if comments for the band are being broadcast over the PA! There was a review that said there weren't locking jacks and the xlr cords came out easily, but I've had this pedal now for several months and it's not an issue. In fact, the cords are very tight in the jacks.
All in all, this is another well built pedal from Radial that makes including a director mic a breeze. Now that we've had this awhile, we can't imagine not having one. So worth $...
Does What It Says
I use this pedal for counting in songs and talking to the team during worship through our in ears. It's a great value considering other companies are selling pedals that do the same thing for almost twice as much. Haven't had any problems with it coming unplugged or pops through the sound system when switching channels.
Very Happy with this
Does exactly what it says it does. I've been using this for 3-4 years.
Only problem is that you need to hold down the switch when using Output 2, and when you let go it switches back to Output 1. It would have been nice to have an actual "toggle".
Great, Except For This
I have owned this pedal for 2 months...
This pedal is simple to use, low priced, and has the potential to be very helpful; HOWEVER, the XLR input doesn't lock (the outputs do, but the input doesn't).
I run into an issue with this EVERY time I use it. The input XLR simply wiggles its way out. I then have to, mid song, put it back in... and then repeat that every 5 minutes or so.
Really disappointed with that, because it makes a would be great pedal... pointless at best, useless at worst :-( wish it wasn't the case, but a serious issue for this pedal / Radial.
Click sound
When using the foot switch theres a clicking sound in the speakers which makes it impossible to use
Do NOT buy this product.
I"m being completely serious when I say this product ruined an entire 2 hour set for my band. We were playing at a local club and we tried to use this pedal for the first time. As we clicked it, the PA popped so hard that it killed half the power amps and the entire show sounded like it was EQ"d through a megaphone. Horrible experience. Horrible, unusable and DANGEROUS product.
