TC Helicon Harmonu Singer 2 replacement

By Sweetwater Customer on April 8, 2024 Music Background: Professional musician since 1989

Thank you so much for finally sending me the replacement Harmony Singer pedal. I am a professional musician and I use the pedal 3 to 5 times per week. I love the pedal. The harmonies work great, the reverb is awesome, and it is simple to use. It also provides Phantom power for my mic.

Thanks for expediting it to me.

You guys rock!

Reverb, Tone, and Harmonies in the order

By MICHAEL DANZA from Joshua Tree, CA on October 10, 2023

I purchased this pedal and the TC HELICON C1 (Pitch correction). I made the choice to get THIS pedal over OTHER voice harmony pedals because this pedal had reverb. I love the reverb. I love the tone button. It's pretty amazing when you love your pedal for the things it is supposed to do secondarily!! Don't get me wrong the harmonies are fun but I always use the tone and reverb. Great stuff. I've started practicing guitar and singing 2-3 hours every night instead of watching TV. Why? Because I bought some awesome TC HELICON pedals that improved my vocals which made practice more fun

A great pedal!

By Sweetwater Customer from AZ on August 1, 2023

The TC Helicon Harmony Singer works absolutely as advertised. It's easy to use, natural sounding, and surprisingly accurate. It also seems to include slight inflections that a real harmony singer would have, in that the layered voices do not resolve identically. It's a nice touch and certainly a game changer for a solo act. Used tastefully, it is a great addition that helps to keep people engaged and entertained!

This Thing Is Awesome!!!

All of a Sudden I have singlehandedly become the Manhattan Transfer!! Tracks complicated chord changes effortlessly. Want to sound like the Eagles or CS&Y? No Problem. Built like a tank too.
Sweetwater did their usual magic and my order was perfect and timely. Thanks to Joe P. and the whole crew!

Absolutely a perfect tool for a lead vocalist and/or instrumentalist

By Tony S from Orange county, California on February 15, 2023 Music Background: 40 + years of pro performances

I have been using this device with bands in professional environtments for well over 2 years. The harmonies produced by the device is absolutely amazing and extremely realistic.
Having the advantage of being able to play keys, and doing lead vocals is the key to getting the best out of the unit. Since I have been using TC Helicon harmonizers for well over a decade, being able to control this little pedal at the correct moment is also an added plus. The harmonies that come out of the box really impress the band guys as well as the audiences. Fortunately, I have also devloped that art of being able to turn on/off harmonies at the appropriate moments. In addition, controlling the correct harmony volume levels is also extremely crucial depending on the type of vocal or song.
Lastly, this unit is undoubtedly the best, 'Easy to Use' harmonizer that's available for solo performers or musical groups.

Simple and works well for what I do

Have used the Harmony Singer 2 for about 5 yrs now. A useful tool to use here and there on songs. Would buy another if this one stopped performing. Well built and easy to use. I'm lead singer in a trio and also perform solo.

"NO FEAR" zone at Sweetwater

By Tom Speerstra from MI on January 3, 2023 Music Background: Have been a hack guitar player and singer since 1964. Played with 3-4 different bands, and have done some solo work

I bought a Harmony Singer II a little over a year ago. Ben Porter is my sales engineer. I get great, fast, personal service every single time I order (maybe 4-5 times a year, I'm a hack guitar player from the 60's) and typically get a follow up call after any order gets delivered. The Harmony Singer went south on me so I called Ben to see if anything could be done. He hooked me up RJ in repair and I sent the unit back with no run around and no delays. A couple of days later I got an update that said they were sending me a brand new unit! I got it the next day.

The Harmony Singer II is an economical, quick an dirty digital solution to adding a bit of "something" to your vocals and for what it is, it is simple to use, and works well live or in studio. But the real story here is the team at Sweetwater who never fail to get the job done, are seriously customer oriented, and excel at telling you what they CAN do for you, instead of what they CAN'T do for you.

Would I buy another Harmony Singer II? Certainly . . . would I buy it from Sweetwater? ABSOLUTELY!! Sweetwater has the business model everyone else is looking for. No wonder they have so many happy customers.

My awesome digital back up singers!

This Harmonizer pedal has made all the difference in my live solo performances! I do a fair amount of runs in my vocal style and it so great to have tight harmonies follow me. It's given new life to my, take on covers, originals and general performance. The audience seems to feel the music more and interestingly have been more prone to sing along. I freaking LOVE this pedal!!

Stunningly Good

By Nicholas Frese from Carolina Shores, NC on October 26, 2022 Music Background: Bassist/Vocalist

I've always had a loose feeling that pieces of gear like this were, in some way, cheating. But I have a few solo gigs to do, want them to sound good, and I bit my tongue and figured I'd give it a try.

Mind changed. Totally.

This little sucker is SO natural sounding and clean that I really feel like I have live backing vocals with me on the gig. That's especially true when you use the single harmony setting. My goodness!

I am only going to use the bigger harmony settings for very specific tunes (Seven Bridges Road being an example), and when I first tried it, it sounded so good and real that it was literally a shock to my system. I also think it helps make me a better singer, because you don't wanna be singing off-key in harmony. That kinda sucks. So it helps keep you focused and on point.

The foot switch is also very responsive and easy to strike, and the piece is generally very well made and feels solid. I highly recommend this great piece of gear from TC Helicon. One of the best things I've ever investing in.

Harmonizer

By William Jordan on October 5, 2022 Music Background: Been doing this all my life...forever.

Been using harmonizers for over 20 years. Needed a low impedence one, looked at EVERYTHING. chose this one cuz it looked user friendly and boy is it ever and sounds great too. Cant spend your money any more wisely than this unit. I plugged it in and started using it my first night on stage with it!

Best I've ever spent on a piece of gear.

By Dave from Northern California on September 13, 2022 Music Background: Professional

Don't put this on your lead vocalists mic, put it on a background singers mic. I'm a bass player in 2 Bands....a three piece Rock power trio and a seven piece Rock band with a horn section. I don't sing lead, but I sing background on most all the tunes in both bands. I trigger the harmonizer from the guitar players in both bands. For Settings...I usally have the Tone on, reverb set mid-way, and Harmony set at "two above" and slightly above half way up for effect setting. Many times I sing unison with the lead singer on the choruses. It adds 2 beautiful higher parts (and the lead siger can take a vocal break during choruses if needed....and they usually do come set #3) If 4 or 5 of us are all singing together, I'll sing a third higher or lower harmony part and we sound like a freaking choir. California Dreamin'...Just Awesome! People think I'm Tommy Shaw or Timothy B. Schmidt...lol. The trick is....use it on a backing vocalist mic. A big performance upgrade for BOTH Bands. Highly reccommended.

Great pedal

By Jordan Pratt from California on August 29, 2022 Music Background: Singer-songwriter

I love this pedal! It greatly elevates my solo performances, and it's a fantastic practice tool. If you don't play the through instrument clearly enough, or sing a little out of key, this pedal is not forgiving. Which could be seen as a negative, but I can tell it has already made me a better performer. The built in "Tone" control is great for de-essing and removing some harsh frequencies. I also love being in control of the reverb for live performances.

Harmony Pedal 2.

Small, reliable, simple to operate, can adjust as needed to make great harmonies and prevent any robotic type sounds, price is right! What else is there to say about a music product?

Love this pedal, but one small complaint

By Sweetwater Customer on July 1, 2022

This pedal sounds amazing. I highly recommend it. It's the best, most natural sounding harmonizer I've heard, and the tone button alone is worth the price. My one complaint is that the button is smaller than standard size so it doesn't work with any pedal button toppers I've been able to find and it gets pretty irritating when used with bare feet. I just wear shoes whenever I use it, but if the people from TC-Helicon are reading this, please consider making the button the standard size!

But still love it.

Vocal Harmony Processor for Keyboards

By Joey Michaels ( stage name ) from Northern California on November 20, 2021 Music Background: Keyboardist/ Vocalist

I have used different Harmony processors for keyboards. In my opinion, TC Helicon Harmony processors are the best. Built like a tank, small in size, easy to use, harmony sounds are the best. I use a TC Helicon Harmony G XT for over 10 years with my Nord, and now I've added a TC Helicon Harmony Singer 2 with my Yamaha. I use a split XLR cable and switch between the two. They work for me !

Old harmony pedals and rack units works with voice only, leaving you with out of tune vocals, these new tc helicon devices get the key from the instrument plugged into it. Making it really hard to make mistakes you can hear. We are going to test it in a studio environment later today.
I feel good about the results.

By Izzy from Nor-Cal on November 2, 2021 Music Background: Played since I was 5 years old. I grew up listening classical music and Rock & Roll.

I'm a man cave warrior but I play guitar every single day. In my experience the pedal works great. Amazing pedal! Guitar not required!

By DrNewcenstein from Merica on August 6, 2021 Music Background: Experienced

I've had 3 of these pedals for about a year now. I bought one to check out, and liked it enough to buy one each for the rest of the band!
Turns out they weren't as big a fan as I was, so now I use all 3 myself.
"How?" You ask?

That's part of the fun!
You'll need a mic splitter. I recommend the Whirlwind Split-6 if you want to run more than 3 total mic outputs.

I run my vocals first in into a TC Helicon Duplicator (another awesome pedal I strongly recommend!) and from there to the Split 6.

One output of the Split 6 goes straight to the board.
3 other outputs run into 3 separate Harmony Singer 2 pedals.

The instrument outputs of these run into each other, and the mic outputs each run into separate mixer channels.

The 5th output - and here's the really fun part - runs into an in-line transformer and then into the Instrument input of the first Harmony Singer 2.

"WTF?" You ask?

Normally you run a guitar into this to direct the harmony. Sing along with the guitar, you get harmonies matching the guitar.
By running your vocals into this input, the harmony is guided by your vocals.
GENIUS! If I do say so myself (and I do!)

Now, you don't get minor shifts in the harmonies, as you would by playing minor chords, but the harmonies match your vocals. If you can sing well, you have matching well-sung harmonies. If, like me, you're not-so-good, you get matching harmonies. This can be good or bad. Get good.

And really you want something running into this input, unless you want crazy vocal effects.

Another major benefit of running multiple units is that you can get mixed harmonies that you can't get with a single pedal, such as 2-up 1-down, or 1-up and 1-down in different intervals.
Speaking of intervals, I'm still fuzzy on which intervals the pedal generates: is it 5th and 7th? I don't think the highest/lowest are octaves. I could be mistooken.

Anyway, you can also, by running separate harmonies, adjust the level of each one individually, whether by fiddling with the knobs on the pedal or letting the sound guy do it on the board. If you have a sound guy.
You can also set different reverb levels (and types) this way.

And you can pan them separately in the mix.

Lastly, multiple pedals let you set them for multiple songs, and switch between them at will. Or you can bring each one in as the song progresses, to get a moving, dynamic build-up of harmonies to really add emotional impact (or trauma).

They also greatly improve the effectiveness of claps, believe it or not. 1 clapper sounds like many.

I don't recommend using the pedal with a cabinet mic to get guitar harmonies. Been there, done that.

Added bonus: run your vocals into a Duplicator first, set for Octaves, then kick it in to get a massive harmony wall.
Your original vocal will be harmonized, the upper octave will be harmonized, and the lower octave will be harmonized.

I cannot recommend this vocal pedal highly enough. If you sing backups, get one. Get several. Get a 1-spot with the multiple outlets too. And a board to put them on. I use a Pedaltrain board.

This pedal sounds great. Easy to use.

Nice backup singers. Simple to operate.

By Garrett Stack from CT on August 2, 2021 Music Background: Baby boomer bar and club gigger

I use guitar backing tracks and I provide the vocal and acoustic-electric guitar part.

Used this for one gig so far and am extremely pleased, even better than I hoped. I went through my set and tried different harmony effects for each song until I settled on "the one," and then noted my choice on my set list. Depending on the vocal range you are singing in effects the harmony choices you make. As a male baritone I often choose the "fifth above" setting to get a female sounding harmony with me. She's awesome. For a group sound, I choose one above and below me or two below me. Lots of options.

As long as you are sure of your voice and instrument, the harmonies will astound. (Note: There is no pitch correction on this device as on some other TC Helicon pedals. Your instrument and mic have to play through the device to create the harmonies.)

My tips: 1] Select your harmony effects in advance. 2] Don't over-use the effects. Bring in the "surprise" on the chorus or to emphasize a phrase. 3]Turn off the effect after the song before you speak. You don't want harmony speaking - trust me.

The T Helicon Harmony Singer 2 is a great unit. The only thing that it doesn't do is work well without an instrument, obviously because it can't function without a major or minor key of an instrument plugged into it. Rich reverb, nice volume for the harmony function. It's on my board permanently!

I love these units! Yes, I stated, "units!" To be exact four units! Due to the differences in venue setups and demands, it is easier to keep one of these units with the equipment that is going to be used for each particular venue setup. It was "heart attack city" when I arrived at a recent venue only to find out that I had left my Harmony Singer 2 at home with the previous venue setup! All units are dialed in exactly the same. All work flawlessly! One unit is in use in the studio on an almost daily basis for rehearsing vocals. I have used several different brands of harmonizers from rack mount to pedal. This unit is NOT like harmonizers from the past. Several years ago, if you were singing with a harmonizer, you had better pray that you didn't have a slight glitch in your voice when you were singing! If you did, the old style harmonizers would duplicate that "glitch" and the vocals would sound awful! The Harmony Singer 2 is forgiving. It allows for the little glitches without tracking them or anyone even being able to tell that they occurred in the first place! I work with the ministry, JC & Company. I use backing tracks with acoustic guitar. The Harmony Singer 2 delivers perfect harmonies every time! Check out some of the vocals on YouTube that are created using this unit and you will be sold on it!

Scotty Walker Producer & Engineer, SONGWRITER CAREER took off with hit blues song in EUROPE

By Scotty Walker from STUDIO on September 6, 2020 Music Background: 35 YEARS

In an article in Guitar Magazine Scotty Walker told JJ Evans a freelancelance writer from Las Vegas,
"After years of working with top producers and engineers in the music industry, if I would have been ask to use the TC-HELICON Harmony singer 2, in the studio setting. I would have told them, thats crazy, and spewed off a thousand reason why it would be a problem. We dont normally connect a $... dollar item to a $20,000 microphone. working with a new artist in Nashville, while I setup the console i told the artist to get set up and we would be ready shortly. Like most men I underestimated the young lady with movie star looks. She had brought in the Singer 2 which I had been using in a solo act. When the chorus came up, she stomped the pedal on, I thought I had a technical issue and stopped rolling, on playback I heard the vocals. It had distorted the channel with all the extra headroom and gain that it puts out. I looked in the booth and saw where she had ran the pedal in-line. I had always been open to different ways of recording, including running mics out into 16th ave, in Nashville to record the chaos I caused in the middle of traffic for tracks for a Film score. So I let her sing the lead, cut the chorus on another track dropping the gains low. Sounded wonderful. Bottom line here is, you can use this pedal to record topend perfect pitch back-up vocals in the studio!!!!!!"

Best Harmonizer for your pedal chain

By Donald Greider from Sarasota, FL on August 24, 2020 Music Background: guitars, vocals

I purchased this to replace the older version, which was good but still had a touch of that digital warble if you're not spot on singing in tune. This one is right on the money. The best is always to play a major chord and sing your note, then change the chord to a minor and see if the harmonizer follows with a minor 3rd. This pedal nails it. I purchased this one for my acoustic rig I mostly play at home. First one is for my electric rig I play out with our band. That's right. I liked it so much I got two of them! Even if I'm just playing on the patio doesn't mean I don't want to sound good doing it. I play a lot of CSN&Y and you really gotta love the one above & one below setting on this harmonizer. If your bandmates can't harmonize well, I strongly recommend this pedal. (Jeez, I hope they don't read this)

Great Harmonizer

By Donald Greider from Sarasota, FL on June 15, 2020

Bought this when putting together a seriously down-sized pedalboard. I have the older TC H-1. Seriously improved! Of course the most practical improvement is it is now 9 volt, so only one power supply. The best improvement though is the quality of the backing vocals. No more digital "warble" voicing. This seriously sounds like someone is singing with you. Best test is to sing a single note and switch the chord you are playing from major to minor - the pedal follows you with the minor third perfectly. I highly recommend this pedal.

Plug and play

By David Winter from Dover, PA on May 19, 2020 Music Background: Full time pro jazz player

I was looking for a no frills harmonizer that I could use with a keyboard. The TC Helicon Harmony Singer 2 is advertised as a pedal to be used with guitar, but I read a review or two by some keyboard players who had good success, I thought I'd give it a try. I've had a bit of experience with harmony devices and some were just way too complicated for live performance. I found this one to be easy to use right out of the box. Three knobs on top to control the basic functions, great! Controlling the main signal volume and the separate harmony volume is no problem, and no extra noise when the effect is turned off. It follows my chords very well, especially if I play the changes a nano second before I sing. Key changes, no problem! Can be used with or without using the keyboard "thru" output. One thing I really liked is that the harmony voices produced seem to sound like a different person is singing. I feel like I'm singing with a backup singer and not just a copy of myself. Maybe that's just the way I'm hearing it, or maybe the unit is designed to perform that way. Regardless, it sounds pretty cool. Highly recommended!

Versatile

By Dave from Upstate New York on February 10, 2020 Music Background: Singer, guitar chords and lead, bass ( only recently). Playing local gigs for past 35 years

The singer 2 is a great tool to enhance the songs of your band. The voices it provides, whether above or below your lead can be a game changer.. I sing and play guitar or base with one of two bands. A four piece rock band (bass) and a duet where the other guy sings and I accompany with guitar and harmony. Both groups do songs from the 50's to the 90's. With the singer 2, we have re vitalzed the doo wop songs. I can do 3 part harmony, think the Imperials, 5 Satin, Flamingoes etc. ( get the picture). The songs sound so complete. With Billy Joel or Sir Elton John, we add one voice above the melody. Sounds just like the Original. Whether it's a bar gig or a dance gig, we have added harmonies or a second or third voice without adding a new band members. The key to using the singer 2. Is playing your accompanying chords nice and clear. The extra voices follow the chords. It's amazing to hear 7's., diminished chords, augmented voices follow your voice. I recommend highly both for bands and musicians who want to have fun.

AWESOME pedal, get one now!

By DrNewcenstein from Tennessee on November 11, 2019 Music Background: Experienced player

Even if you're not a fan of "artificial" backups and vocalizer type pedals, this thing is a hoot!

Don't let the promo video fool you into thinking it's only good for a solo singer with an acoustic:
-The Rooster (Alice in Chains): Check!
-Queenish harmonies (Fat-Bottomed Girls): Check!
-Van Halen backups (Somebody Get Me A Doctor, and the "WOO-WHOO!"): Check!

Would love to hear this thing paired with a harmonica (guitar or bass feeding the key tones while the harmonica signal goes through the mic), especially if it's mixed low for a haunting howl.
Maybe stick one in front of a miked wind/brass instrument with something else feeding the key tones.

If you're like me, you didn't read the manual ("manual? what manual?") so the harmony settings are as follows in a clockwise pattern, starting at 7 o'clock (first setting)
-One way below and one way above (highest and lowest)
-One just below and one just above (closest to original)
-One just above
-One way above
-One just above and one way above
-One just below
-One way below
-One just below and one way below

Notice the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions are blank. Future expansion? Hmm.

Not entirely sure of the intervals. Octave and fifth? 5th and 3rd? Octave and 3rd? I think they went over it in the video.
Anyway.

I would prefer to have more harmony options, like Two above with Two below, One just below with One way above (shortest interval and highest interval), as well as selecting the intervals (for the controlled train wrecks).
Would also like the ability to chain multiple pedals. Make it a tad wider (or just rotate it 90 degrees?) so it has the Mic In, Effected Out, and an Unaffected Out to feed the original signal to a second pedal, and from there to a 3rd pedal, and on).

For that matter, make it bigger and be able to set the first and second harmony separately. One knob covers all the "above" and the other controls all the "below" selections. Make them dual-concentric so you can set the intervals (3rd below and 5th above, etc) for either one. I realize this is supposed to be a more simplistic setup so the average singer can operate it (SHOTS FIRED!) but I'm a Mad Scientist and I like more options than I know what to do with, but don't really need yet another MIDI board on the floor.

Wow.........what a great vocal harmony pedal

By Scott Erickson from NAPLES, Florida on October 31, 2019 Music Background: Guitarist &!vocalist

Our 60's & 70's cover band needed harmonies. Those of you who play with bands know that learning, and singing tight harmonies can be time consuming and inconsistent. I researched harmony pedals and found many to be more elaborate than what I wanted. Keeping it simple was very important to me.
I discovered the TC Helicon Harmony Singer and watched several demonstration videos. It seemed so easy to use, yet I was skeptical.
So, I called Sweetwater because I knew from past purchase experiences that my sales rep Evan Mehre would give me honest information and guidance.
After Evan answered my questions and alleviated my concerns I purchased the pedal.
A few days later the unit was delivered. I had band rehearsal that night so I immediately plugged the TC Helicon Harmony Singer in. I just set the dials to desired harmony pattern and volume. I added a touch of built-in club reverb and I tested it out by playing Brown Eyed Girl.
By the end of the first chorus I was in love with this thing. Then at rehearsal the guys were blown away by the quality of harmonies it produced.
Now we have the tight harmonies we wanted on every tune, simple and easy! Thank you Evan for your excellent advice and SERVICE!

TC Helicon Harmony Singer 2 Review

By Gary S. from Aiken, SC on October 12, 2019 Music Background: Playing live since the late 70's. Classic & Southern Rock

I saw a friend of mine doing a "Duo" gig and she was getting these great harmonies. I messaged her the next day asking what she was using. She told me it was the TC Helicon Harmony Singer 2. The next day I ordered one! Just used it at rehearsal and it's amazing! Great processing for the main vocals with the push of a button as well! This alone is worth the bucks!!! Harmonies sound great and not overly "processed" sounding. Gonna use it live next weekend and looking forward to it :)

For a singer used to working with incredible vocalist. I have to say, it saved my life. I love music and have been lucky enough to tour in national acts and perform with most of my heroes and influences.
Without at least a 3 part harmony, I was getting very bored. I use it in my solo act. Nicknamed the pedal The eagles. Scotty Walker.. TROUBLED WALKIN', UNTAMED, WALKER BROTHERS, 2 MIN WARNING.

Awesome!

By David Elliott from Florida on July 20, 2019 Music Background: Classic Country, 60's, 70's rock, Christian Gospel music.

So been wanting something for my singing. I'm an older guy, and play in a small band with others my age. We play 60's, 70's songs, and classic Country. Never have we used any electronic gadgets, but getting backup singing out of these guys was a train wreck! So after considering want I needed, I called Sweetwater and Tyler helped me with the purchase of this Amazing product. I say Amazing, because this little box is outstanding in backup voicing. And out of the box, Soooo easy to use. I plugged in, and Bam! The difference was Amazing! The Sound quality of the TC Helcon absolutely blew my mind. I told myself, these guys are never singing with me again!

Love it

By Dave Miller from Greenwood Village Colorado on June 29, 2019 Music Background: Solo acoustic gigs, and recently, a 70’s classic rock band

When I play solo, this really enhances my songs. I am going to use it with the band, also, as the original intent for the purchase was because we were having trouble getting our harmonies down. Problem solved, and the other guys now have something to listen to for their potential singing down the road.

I have also learned that for the box to do it"s job, the chords on the guitar have to be straight forward. If I play a D, and leave the high E string open, it"s confused and off key. If I play an F chord without Barring the first fret, it doesn"t know what to do. So, for the harmonies to sound right, sometimes I can"t play variations on chords that I would prefer, but overall, the nice harmonies more than make up for it.

It"s simple, easy to set up, easy to use, totally happy with it.

Also want to say that Jordan and Dillon helped me tremendously because they play and use this equipment, they could answer my questions because they know the products personally. Invaluable, and kept me from having to reinvent the wheel as they had already been there, done that. I haven"t used any kind of extra product aside from my guitar, a drum machine, and my powered PA system. I now also have an overdrive that also increases my flexibility with guitar tone, and a loop pedal is on the way. Thanks guys!!

I'M FULLY SATISFIED WITH MY PURCHASE. HOWEVER, I WAS LUCKY TO HAVE HAD EXPERIENCE WITH A LOT LARGER HARMONIZER THAT YOU CAN NOT BY ANYMORE. FOR A PERSON THAT HAS HAD NO EXPERIENCE WITH A HARMONIZER, THEY MAY HAVE A HARD TIME FIGURING OUT HOW TO USE IT. THIS IS NOT YOUR FAULT, BUT, IT WOULD REALLY HELP SOMEONE THAT IS NOT EXPERIENCED WITH ONE, IF YOU WOULD TYPE UP A SMALL NOTICE WITH THEM, AS YOU SELL THEM, ABOUT HOW TO SET THEM RIGHT. I AM MORE THAN SATISFIED WITH MINE FOR WHAT I USE IT FOR.
THANK YOU,

Amazing how a little blue box can make an average guy with average vocals and guitar, keys and harmonica playing sound amazing! Best purchase I've ever made, best customer service ever with knowledgeable, courteous, professional, friendly sales rep like Mike Morgan! He put in ALOT of time and effort to help me find just the right guitar. My Martin 12 string still makes me smile everyday, before I even pick it up! The Harmony Singer 2 is easy to use, makes my voice sound great, and then adds some awesome hramonies that make people stop look and listen, wonder where it's coming from and smile! Mike's knowledge, and personality, and unwavering devotion to making customers feel like a friend, make me a regular customer who will continue to come back. Next on my list is a second HS2 so I don't have to stop and switch the pedal between guitar and keys in the middle of a set to play a request! Also in need of a couple LED stage lights. Its great to know I have a friend in the music business to help me find the right deal! Happy New Year!

TC-Helicon Harmony Singer 2

By Brian from New Haven, CT on June 23, 2018 Music Background: Keyboards forever

I'm a keyboard player who sings. I keep the TC unit just to the right of my sustain pedal. With a quick pivot of my foot (heel always in contact with the floor) I can tap the switch and add or subtract the two part harmony. I add it at the bridge or for the big final verse, or throughout say a Beach Boys tune. The harmonies amazingly keep right up with every jazz chord I throw in. It's odd that the promo info on this unit does not advertise use with a keyboard. In fact, the original Harmony Singer says "Guitar Controlled Vocal Harmony." One disadvantage for me is that in order to change the harmony setting between songs, I have to reach all the way to the floor - not the most professional look. Therefore I tend to leave the setting on two voices: one just above and one just below my lead vocal. The volume control allows me to keep the harmonies subtle or up front, a nice option for country vs. rock vs. jazz.
This is the MOST phenomenal technology - fun and inspiring on the job.

This is the answer for all lead singers who constantly have to remind their band mates to not forget to sing their back-up parts. Except for vocals where the lead is not able to sing a back-up part to his own lead line, like the "Oohs" behind a given lead line, this little box is the bomb. One thing to note: It does not come with an AC to DC converter. Sweetwater will call you, and helpfully offer "what you need,"... OK, don't go for that, if you have a box of converters in your drawer, like most of us. Oddly, the unit calls for four AA batteries, 6 V, but the converter input calls for 9V, 300mA. Huh? Do remember that this is a jacket hot, tip negative input. I pulled out a 6V converter that had the right + and - configuration, popped it in, and everything worked fine, right from the start. You won't go wrong with this unit. Very cool. Highly Recommended!

Solid voice pedal :)

By Louis Y from California on July 22, 2017 Music Background: Amateur guitar player and singer

I purchased the TL Helicon harmony singer 2 from the helpful and knowledgeable sales engineer Alex Campos about 4 months ago. I like the EQ voice feature. For my voice, I have to use the "less EQ" setting since the normal EQ setting picked up much ssss sound ...just glad it has two options for the EQ..

Super sturdy unit with solid knobs and switches. Love the blue color as well.. phantom power is awesome for my Shure Beta 87A condenser microphone:)

Harmony voices will take time to find the right setting for each particular song. I am using just the EQ feature so far but will try to incorporate more harmony sections when I get to find the appropriate songs and settings ... I find less is more as far as harmony goes ... it is a fun unit to record / listen to all the various harmonized voice effects :)

I use the Truetone 1SPOT9V 1700ma DC power adaptor to power via daisy chaining all 5 stomp pedals and they work well without noises :) This unit works well with batteries also. Just be sure to switch it off when not using. Too bad it can't switch off unit "automatically" when A/C adaptor is clicked in whether A/C has power or not.

I tried also using a Pioneer karaoke dynamic microphone and harmony singer 2 made the voice sounded much better as well :)

I have the Digitech Vocalist live 2 which has been working without fail for over 17 years and is still going. I've loved that unit but as I'm downsizing, the VL2 takes up too much real estate. The TC Helicon Harmony Singer looked like a great prospect. I've had over a year to get used to this one and find that I actually like it better than the VL2. My band mates also noticed a pronounced positive difference in quality of the harmonies. To say I'm pleased would be an understatement. Now I just need to see if it will be road worthy for next 17 years...at my age, this unit may still be kicking long after I'm gone!

I Had the harmony gxt for a few years and loved i for its great effects as well as the great harmony settings but it broke and the repair was gonna cost more than it was actually worth so i looked at all my options and decided to go with this smaller footprint sized pedal. Im glad i did because while not being as feature rich as the harmony gxt i sounds pretty dang good and was half as expensive . Its also a pretty simple and intuitive so using it on the fly is a breeze . The reverb effects are minimal ie: varying degrees of decay for 3 different reverbs room, club, and hall but they get the job done and everyone will find their sweet spot . The harmonies are far superior to that of boss and digitech in my opinion and when mixed in at just the right level sound very real.this pedal has rounded out my basic acoustic solo performer pedalboard and i cant wait to use it live. Thanks to my rep Josh Pippin and his team at sweetwater for helping me put my pedal together you were great cheers

By Larry from Texas on August 13, 2018 Music Background: Gigging amateur who plays out or in practice daily

The bad reviews about QC surprise me. Perhaps a bad production run? Had mine for about a year and use it two or three times a week at gigs and my practice room about 20 hours a week. Works perfect every time. Eats batteries so I use the optional power supply.

That said, I sing baritone and bass and don't need harmonies below my natural voice range as that might require subwoofers. I general kick in one above or two above depending on the song. Would be nice if it had that feature foot switchable like my Boss harmonizer but of course that would just drive the price up. Since I have fairly talented feet (I operate two drum stomp boxes) I'm going to try one of the long levers Sweetwater sells that make a knob operable by foot. Switching between tenor guitar and harmonica keeps my hands pretty busy.

When I kick in a harmony at a bridge I can watch the reaction in the audiences eyes and faces. That alone make it a keeper.

Great Alternative to Voicelive Touch 2

By Brian Koning from Carmel, IN on July 14, 2018

I am a solo acoustic artist and have been using the TC-Helicon Voicelive Touch 2 for about a year. The problem with the VLT-2 is that it doesn"t like the heat and it freaks out (as in locks up) when I do outdoor gigs where the temps are above about 80-degrees F; I have to keep recycling the power on and off. So, I recently bought the Harmony Singer 2 and use it with my TC-Helicon Mic Mechanic. While it doesn"t have the 200 pre-sets as the VLT-2, it does a great job and doesn"t mind the heat; recently played a gig where it was 103-degrees! I run my Takamine electric acoustic through it and then into my Ibanez acoustic effects pedal. It all goes into my Bose Compact 2. GREAT setup for an acoustic gig in about any small to medium sized venue! The harmonies add so much and open up my repertoire.

By Walter Gossett from Newport, Tn on May 17, 2018 Music Background: Southern Gospel

I'm loving the Harmony Singer 2, I looked at a lot of vocal processors before making my choice. The Harmony Singer was simple to use, it has natural harmony sounds and the price was in the range I was looking for. I noticed in the infomercial the Harmony Singer was designed to be used with a guitar, I sorta hesitated for a moment and then I ran across a video on UTube of the unit being used with a piano, so I ordered one. From the moment I hooked it up and turned it on I'm loving it.
I noticed when your singing solo vocals fill ins
and note progressions are fine, but when you turn on the harmonies you have to do basic rythem or the vocals follow the note progressions therefor pulling them off pitch.
But I certainly would recommend the Harmony Singer 2 to anyone looking for a vocal prosser.

Amazing Harmonies (but must be A440)

By Sweetwater Customer on January 31, 2018

This thing sounds phenomenal. At first though, I thought it was garbage because I regularly tune in A432 as opposed to standard A440. It sounded like cats screeching in a back alley after dark. I called Sweetwater and my rep told me it only works in A440. When I switched to that, sweet harmonies. My only problem, and why I didn't give it a 5, is that I truly prefer A432. It's just where I feel most comfortable singing. It does have a USB port so I called TC Helicon to see if there were any programming hacks that could be done to it, and the answer was, sadly, no. I guess what I will do now is play a half step down in A440...(A432 is essentially a half of a half step down). At any rate, I could't find any other harmonizers that would make the adjustment either. So I'll keep this one.

Great little harmonizer! Only drawbacks are it is ver easy to accidentally change things with your foot if you aren't careful. Extra year of warranty thru Musictribe is almost impossible to complete. Nice sounding reverb! Harmonies just ok!

By Mike from Arizona on May 15, 2021 Music Background: Playing guitar and other instruments 45 years!

I like the fact that it is battery operated, so I can use it with all battery powered set-up I put together for playing in parks, beach, ect. The reverb makes my voice sound nice and full, and really like it. Don't know if it's just because I'm using it through Roland Cube Street EX that the harmonies sound not so good, or if it's the pedal. To be honest, I have not plugged it into my full regular PA system yet, so it might just be the Roland amp making the harmonies sound muffled? But I'm sure they will sound better over my real pa system. I gave it only 4 stars really only because the dials, and foot switch are way cheap, and dials move to easy if slightest bump, making it change settings in middle of songs. Battery life also is not that long! Other than that, I do like the pedal, and does make my voice sound much fuller than my previous tc helicon vocal pedal I had. But it is a bit too expensive for what it is.

Useful Performance Tool

By Greg from Ohio on October 6, 2017 Music Background: Semi-Pro

I was on a Panama Canal cruise and watched one of the ship's solo entertainers in one of the lounges use one of these. I heard it and went, "What is that?" When we got back from the cruise I ordered one as I do a solo guitar/singer gig at a restaurant. It's a handy unit. My Bose L1 Compact (from Sweetwater) doesn't have reverb, so this gives me 3 choices, all 'useable' to some degree. The several harmony options take a bit of experimentation to find what works best where. But it does deliver. To my ears, "my opinion", the Adaptive Tone parts don't work quite as well as they seem to on my Helicon TC1. I do use the option to darken the tone a bit, I like that.
I use it with a Shure Beta 58, from Sweetwater, of course.
Would give it 5 stars if it made me sound like Sinatra.

Singers helper

By Eddie Hutch from Jersey Shore on September 9, 2017 Music Background: Working musician for 40+ years

I got the Harmony Singer a few weeks ago from Sweetwater. When I practiced with it I sometimes suddenly got what I would describe as a decay/distortion. The only way to correct it was to turn the unit off and back on. I tried two different power supplies and got the same issue. Sweetwater had another one in the mail for me even before I had the old one boxed to send back. The new one seems fine. The Harmony
Singer sounds good when singing back-up in the acoustic duo I work with. The oo's and ahh's sound dumb with one voice. When I sing lead I dial in my own harmony as the guy I work with can't sing back-up. Play around with it and experiment. Once you get it dialed in it's a nice tool to have. You have to be pretty accurate with your singing and playing for this device to sound it's best.It wont correct a sloppy performance.

Sweet and Simple

By Harry Manko from Bay Shore, NY on May 2, 2017

Bought this to replace the TC Helicon G-XT, a good unit, but aggressive use on the stage would roll-up some of the dials. The HS 2 takes up less space and the one-touch operation works well. Battery operation is a plus, although I plug it in to avoid having an issue during a gig. I like the fact there is no gain to dial in on the box.

Battery Powered

By Michael Cleveland from Fort Mohave, AZ on June 27, 2023

The reason I bought this is because it runs on batteries. Needed something to go along with the rest of my battery powered gear for busking. It's not the best harmonizer I have used, and only sounds good on one setting to me. But it does the job. Would I buy another if it got damaged or stolen? Honestly, No!

Could be better if simpler.. eats batteries.. power switch is annoying.

By Ronnie E from Kapaa, Kauai on November 2, 2021 Music Background: Gigging musician

I was very surprised that it actually works and the harmonies track your guitar chords. Sounds more natural than the more expensive units I have tried previously. That said.. they should have made it a straight harmony pedal rather than all of the compression, reverb and other stuff. I can see MAYBE having a compressor with a level control. The other stuff just makes it squeal and any PA you plug into nowadays has a better reverb. The power switch is a real pain. It eats AA batteries. When the batteries get low it starts doing weird digital dysfunctional stuff. Mostly shutting your mic off. They should have simply made a harmonizer and included a power supply. Also, you aren't going to be using it with any loud stage level. Mic bleed confuses it. It's mostly good for solo, low volume bar gigs with an acoustic guitar although I had fun using it with a Telecaster.

Great when it works correctly

By David D from NC on August 1, 2019

When this works properly it adds beautiful harmonies to your vocals. I don't use any of the reverb (use that from my board) and I usually run it just below 12 o'clock for a nice, non-overwhelming blend. That said, if the tone button is not active, the vocals are not clear/crisp and sound muddled. If the tone button is active (red light is on) the vox are significantly more clear and pleasant.
The major problem though, is that, at unpredictable times in my solo sets, the vocals will start loudly crackling....once that starts happening it will not stop until you use the on/off switch on the back right-hand corner of the pedal and turn the pedal off, then back on. It cuts out your guitar and vocal signal for a few seconds and then the problem is fixed....which is nice that there is a quick fix but is a bummer if you are in the middle of a vocal line with or w/out harmonies. Its embarrassing when it happens at my shows because it is noticeable to the average person in the audience. The good outweighs the bad with all the pedal adds to the overall sound, but its pretty disappointing they couldn't fix this bug before selling so many of these pedals. Many, many other customers have described this same problem and I'm not sure many of them have found the quick off/on solution to mitigate the problem mid-song...so i hope that helps some of them. Also, there is no gain control on this pedal, it is built-in auto, so that may have something to do with the distortion/crackling...but I've been noticing that the crackling doesn't consistently happen during loud, belting notes so that may not be a relevant connection. This pedal adds awesome stuff to your set, but its a huge bummer that it can be very unpredictable. I would say based on my experience as a full-time solo performer (avg 4 shows a week)...these crackles/problems tend to happen once per show on avg. Last night it happened twice, sometimes it doesn't happen at all, sucks not to know.

Harmony Singer 2

By Marc Baskind from Virginia on July 4, 2018

l like the Harmony Singer 1 better. I miss setting my mic volume rather than have it set automatically. The unit has no anchoring pad on the bottom. so, if you don't mount it to a pedalboard, it tends to move around.

Harmony singer 2

By Doug J from Oregon on June 15, 2017 Music Background: Vocals, guitar

Works good. I haven't used it with batteries yet. Tracking seems more warbled at times, maybe it's my voice. A good value.

Basic

By Danny Vigil from Manitou Springs, CO on July 21, 2023

So, it does the trick for basic 3rd's. But anyone that does harmony on a frequent basis, knows that it is not always an exact 3rd that you need. It does what it is supposed to, but not really performance worthy in my opinion.

Good and Bad

By Elaine Petty from Orange Beach , Al on July 7, 2023 Music Background: Professional musician

I am a working musician on the Gulf Coast.. I work 5 to 6 gigs a week. I really like the pedal and the quality of the sound, however, this is my second pedal and both broke within 2 yrs. At first it starts with a distorted vocal…I found the remedy would be to cut it off for a few secs then it was reset. Major inconvience when you're in the middle of a song! But ..ok. Then, eventually, it quits working all together. Both pedals did the same thing. Maybe this pedal does not like the environment I'm exposing it to!!

I like it, but…

By Peter Codispoti from Williamsport, PA on December 9, 2022 Music Background: Professional; X Navy MU.66-70

It doesn't do octaves! The harmony selector has room for more options, like octave above and octave below. Example, Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy, have to be able to do octaves not harmony. I looked at two other TC Helicon devices where the keyboard version lacks a mic out and the VG version requires extra equipment. Very disappointing.

Fun

By Sweetwater Customer on March 1, 2020 Music Background: Singer/songwriter

This is a fun addition to our live shows. It's not ideal and can't be used on all songs but definitely adds a little extra kick for your ears. We're a singer/songwriter duo so it's nice to have a little fattening of the vocals.

Natural sounds but has it's issues.

By CF from Ottawa, IL on October 21, 2019 Music Background: Full time professional

For home use this unit is great! Sounds very natural compared to some other products have used. However in a live situation some things need to be taken into account. The knobs move very easily and are prone to move if you even slightly bump them thus changing your settings. This has burned me at least 1 time per show. (I play 6-8 shows per WK) Also, this unit malfunctions....a lot. I have experienced volume drops and on occasion it turns to pure distortion mid show. You have to turn the unit off and then back on to fix the issue. Other reviews have brought this up. I use it for small acoustic shows in clubs but would never risk using this unit in a larger situation or at a gig where there was a lot at stake. Sounds good but its is just not that reliable. I really wish I could have written a better review.

Harmony Singer

By Arthur Goettel from North Syracuse, NY on August 17, 2022

When the unit works, it's great, however, this has been the most unreliable piece of equipment I've owned in a long time-I'm in my 60's and have been a performer and educator for a long time. At a gig, the unit would not produce harmonies and I had to reload the software. It has given off loud short-circuit type of noises and now has failed to work altogether-of course it all happens at gigs.

mind of its own

By Shawn Avery from Ohio on December 15, 2019

used it at 6-7 gigs worked great and sounded great, then it got a mind of its own and started engaging and disengaging on its own! not sure what happened . when it worked , it worked great, but for the money you should get more than 6-7 gigs! may im just 'that guy" that seems to get 'that one"! will update when it gets figured out !!

Not entirely happy

By Kim from Colorado on January 20, 2019

I like the sound. I like the simplicity. My problem is that I can't get it to work correctly with any consistency. It worked fine initially but when I'm done, I turn it off. When I go to turn it on again all I get is a click. No guitar, no vocal, no nothing. The first one I had for 4 months and it started this. They replaced it this week with a used one. I've used it once and have the same result. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I can't say that the customer service at Helicon has been helpful. They did not answer my questions just wanted to send me another one.

Unfortunately unreliable

By David Gandia from Florida on March 2, 2018 Music Background: Working musician

I really liked this pedal when I first got it. Worked great. Did what it was supposed to do. Then right in the middle of a performance my vocals started distorting badly. Returned it and Sweetwater sent me another one plus the actual power supply recommended by the company. The new one worked great then again in the middle of a performance the distortion returned. Contacted Sweetwater again and found out that this is a problem that TC-Helicon knows about and they're trying to resolve it. Powering down the pedal resets it but you never know when it will distort. Some kind of gain build up. Had to return it unfortunately. If your thinking about purchasing this pedal just remember it's a roll of the dice. you may get lucky and have no issues but I had 2 in a row!!

robot harmonies, if that's your thing

By John Rodriguez from Long Beach, CA on April 20, 2023

This is priced to be a really great vocal pedal, but it performs like a clear robotic, digitized vocal effect.

To test it, I played straight through the mic with clean settings, so I wasn't distracted by the sound of the guitar. Now, I know it has a guitar pass through feature so it can tune to the guitar's tone, but it should work just as well tuned to itself. It just sounded like I had robot backup singers. Maybe if I play them with a low level, like 25%, it would be subtle enough to sort of hear harmony, and not notice the digitized sound. I'll probably do that if I ever use it again.

Quick start guide tells you the obvious, and I wasn't able to find a full manual at the website they listed, so there maybe more tricks I'm not aware of.

It's nice to have some reverb settings, and the always-on tone sweetener, though.

Too Inconsistent to use Professionally

By Johnny D from Virginia on January 4, 2020 Music Background: Professional Musician

When it works, it's great. However, it intermittently outputs wrong notes that are not in the chord being played. Sometimes its notes fluctuate between pitches as if it is trying to find the right notes. Other times, the pitches do not fluctuate, but are simply wrong notes - thus making the music sound dreadfully cringe-worthy awful. I get the same results with both guitar and electric piano as the instrument input. Unfortunately, the random bad notes are too frequent to use this in a gig as I had hoped.

I do not recommend the Harmony Singer 2

By Stringbabe from Boston on September 14, 2019 Music Background: Professional

Look for something else other than this peddle . Hate to say it but the Harmony Singer 2 is not reliable.

Purchased about a year ago . Worked fine a first and actually loved using . Then this thing suddenly started to have issues making distorted sounds half way thru a song. Very embarrassing to have this happen on live gigs. Sometimes it works fine with no issues and other times it has a mind of its own. Last two gigs , it was fine and I was lovin it again. Used the Harmony Singer 2 on a gig today and it started making in and out distorted sounds again that was so bad I had to stop and disconnected it from the Mic & guitar as turning it off & on to try to correct it wasn't working.

It's a nice concept, small, the harmony sounds are pretty good (when it's working correctly), it follows your guitar so there's no changing keys going from one song to another.

Hopefully TC -Helicon will figure out what the problem is with these units as it is a great peddle for a solo artist.........IF & WHEN IT WORKS ! ! Unfortunately I'll be retiring my TC- Helicon Harmony Singer 2 and try to find something else that sounds like real voices and easy to use.

Not Reliable

By Stan on June 22, 2018

I loved this product when I first bought it. It really adds to a performance when doing a solo acoustic gig. However, the first one I bought (after playing less than 45 minutes) goes into a distorted sound killing the song. I returned it, thinking it was a product defect, and replaced it. The second one I bought is doing the same thing. It really sucks because Iv'e come to rely on it doing acoustic gigs, but I never know when it's going to distort out on me. I'm in the process of looking for something similar, that is more reliable.

Short life

By Mark Knick from Lauderdale on April 15, 2024 Music Background: 50 years

I gladly wasted the 4 years ago. It worked ok out of the box. I took it out to use it today, 4 years later and the thing kicks in on its own without stomping the switch. After a restart it does the same thing. I say when I stomp it on the light comes on and I get harmonies but then I stomp it off and it won't turn off. So if it is going to interrupt the parts I don't want it on - it is useless. I decided to upgrade the firmware. That was finally accomplished after several tries. But the harmonizer still does the same annoying thing. It hears a tone in normal and clicks the harmony on. Un prompted. This is unreliable equipment.

TC Harmony Singer is JUNK

By Michael Soiseth from Port Angeles wa on August 18, 2023 Music Background: musician

Ive owned 3. That's THREE. When it worked, awesome. Problem is all 3 stopped working after a couple weeks. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DO NOT BUY! My latests worked on 1 week of solo acoustic rehearsals and died 3 days before the show I was planning on using it for. I made sure I had the right power supply as recommended by TC electronics. I own and have owned a lot of gear and this product is hands down the biggest disappointment. They should be ashamed for selling this crap as their are tons of reviews that say the same thing, Do NOT believe the positive reviews.

I like it but problems with Footswitch

TC Helicon Harmonizer 2

By Larry Swanson from IA on December 23, 2022

It worked great for about 5 months. Especially liked the push the button for harmonies, let off for none. But I started getting the loud distortion or clipping with no warning. Now it keeps doing it and never know when, making it unusable. Not Recomended !

Broke down within minutes

By Alex from Newark, DE on December 20, 2022

I was looking forward to trying this Harmony singer in my solo gigs, unfortunatly the main button stop functioning within minutes of gentle use. I will try to exchange it because i am not sure if this is a design issue or just a defective item. Unfortunately, this product is made in China.

6 months in: Not Real Equipment! Won’t Last Long

By Saul Rockman from Coast to Coast- all the way up and down on June 25, 2022 Music Background: Former Performer

Like many other owners who waited (to do an actual useful review), mine also quit working not too long after buying. Yes, it was fun when it worked, now just a pretty piece of junk. Incidentally, my Rat distortion pedal from gigging in the 80's still works. So does my Tube Screamer. TC Hell on their website as well. I'm out!

TC Helicon :(

By Sweetwater Customer from Los Angeles on June 14, 2022 Music Background: Long-time professional musican (starving artist)

For me, this is the perfect "idea". Simple box, simple controls, does what I want without a bunch of extras that I will never use.
Unfortunately, as stated in all the one, two, and three star reviews, the product is unreliable. Usually, about 45 minutes into an hour set, it malfunctions, vocals become extremely distorted.
I am still hoping that someone will create a product like this (simple, affordable) that can actually be used on a professional live gig.

Poor product

By Matthew Rick from Saginaw Michigan on November 24, 2021 Music Background: Semi Pro Musician for 45 years. Guitar, Drums, Keyboards, Vocals.

This is the first time I have ever written a review. I had high hopes for this product because of it's small size and the youtube sales pitch. I have used harmonizers for over 10 years as a live performer. Because of my experience I am used to the performance of the old Digitech Vocalist 4 and 3, both of which are no longer manufactured and both of which work extremely well. The product I received (TC Helicon Harmony Singer) did not track the instrument at all. I could change from "A" major to "A" minor without the harmonizer adjusting at all. And I mean absolutely nothing. The result was a very strange harmony blend that sounds very odd. The product I received is not suitable for a live performance at all.

I could not recommend this product. Not even to a beginner.

Good Luck.

Muddy Waters

By Michael Gadoua from Sonoma County, California on August 18, 2021 Music Background: Music major; Americana musician; teacher

Surprised at the low quality when used with a 12-string. While the guitar effects the harmonizing but 12 notes, as opposed to a 6 string, seems to confuse the box. The emitted harmony sounds like vocal mud. I wasn't able to make it the harmony clear.

Buyer Beware: there's a pattern here

By Dave Starns from Hammond, LA on October 3, 2019 Music Background: Longtime pro

When it works, this pedal is just what I need. The harmony algorithms work great, and the pedal is compact, which is why I bought it (I also have the VoiceLive, which is 400% bigger); I needed something small to use on an already-substantial pedalboard. My goal was to use the VoiceLive when I played acoustic and this one for electric gigs.

For the first few months I had it, It seemed like the perfect solution. But then, out of the blue one night, it started randomly adding a harsh, digital clipping to my voice. I'm not talking about something subtle; it sounds like a broken Decepticon from a Transformers movie. As others with this problem have noted, the only solution is to power the pedal down, then up again.

And the fact that others have experienced the exact same issue (I counted five of them, so roughly 10% of the reviews) indicates that it isn't just a random problem in the specific pedal I own, but rather an issue common to the pedal itself. If the Sweetwater reviews are an indication, you'd have at least a 10% chance of this happening to you if you bought one. I say "at least" because some of the reviews were written soon after the reviewer started using the pedal; the issue didn't surface for me until at least four months in.

By the way, I checked the Musician's Friend reviews, And found that 10% of them report this issue, while the Amazon reviews report it 20% of the time.

To me, that would be enough of a pattern to warn me off of it.

Do not buy

By Jerod from Indiana on March 2, 2019 Music Background: Independent signed artist | singer-songwriter

Hey guys, so I"ll make it real brief because it"s been said a handful of times, but the TC Harmony pedal is problematic. I"m on my second one and experiencing the same random distortion noise that people are talking about. It"s extremely embarrassing for any musician who uses this, especially if you are a solo artist, to have to deal with this. I played a show last night and this kept distorting on almost every song and you can imagine the humiliation when people all night are you giving you funny looks. I can"t blame them. Don"t waste your money. It"s a paper weight. However, Sweetwater is an awesome company that I enjoy doing business with. You won"t find a better company. Hopefully they"ll read the complaints that everyone is having and pull the product or demand TC fix this. Cheers!

TC Helicon

By Dan from Cincinnati on February 10, 2019 Music Background: Formally trained guitarist

Pedal worked great for a couple weeks. I really like the simplicity and harmonies it produces. However, it started unexpectedly distorting. I video taped the distortion and sent copy toSweet Water to justify replacement. No Problem...Sweetwater was great about that. Even suggested that I go to a dynamic mic instead of my condenser. They sent a second unit out and weeks later; same issue.
I've made some money with this pedal but CANNOT afford the unexpected awful distortion in the middle of some soft harmonies. Being a one man band / looper guy....this absolutely WRECKS the whole effort. Power down and back up is the only way to reset the unit......and still it may start distorting again. Very disappointing.

Product Breaks

By Corey on March 5, 2018

The product sounds good, however, I"ve only had it for half a year and have gone thru 2 of them. They are poorly made. On both I heard parts rattling around inside. This is the only gear I"ve had break on me. Definitely would go with another product now that I know how weak the product is made.

TC HELICON HARMONY

By Miguel Reyes from Brooklyn NY on May 4, 2017 Music Background: Writer , arranger composer

I am extremely disappointed with it, because after I watch the video with the different singers demonstrating it and when I got it I could not hear all the harmonies I heard in the video tutorial , I was just about hearing just two octaves that is it .
