Keeley Halo Andy Timmons Dual Echo Pedal Reviews

Dual Delay Pedal with A/B Sides, 5 Rhythms, Tap Tempo, and Preset Save/Recall

The “halo” sound isn’t just an effect for Andy Timmons — this coveted delay has been a crucial component of the guitarist’s tone for decades, often imitated yet never replicated with absolute precision. With the Keeley Halo Andy Timmons Dual Echo pedal, Andy’s dynamic delay sound is immortalized in a single stompbox, making it easier than ever to tap into the mystique and aura of one of the electric guitar’s tone wizards. The Halo operates like two pedals in one, with A and B sides available to lock in delays and quickly switch between them. A handy Rhythm Mode selector takes you from common delay types to a setting that instantly calls up Andy’s unique “halo” effect, with plenty of controls onboard to tweak your sound to perfection. Once you dial in the ideal effect, a built-in memory bank stores up to eight presets for instant recall, making it a cinch to take your signature sounds wherever you go. Whether it’s a versatile delay you’re after or a need to harness Andy’s tone for your own, the Keeley Halo Andy Timmons Dual Echo pedal deserves a place on every pedalboard.

HiFi Delay pedal

By Carlos Ayala from San Antonio, TX on March 25, 2024

I had this product for a couple of months and man is it a beast. It's so small compared to other delay pedals but sounds big! As a guitar player who plays worship and jazz, I can say this is enough. You don't need a timeline! I'd buy this pedal again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great delay pedal. I will say that running this in stereo vs mono makes all the difference in the world. Run in stereo if you can!!!

Absolutely love it

By Glenn Newgent from Marissa, il on March 19, 2024 Music Background: 35 years playing guitar

Very easy to find my perfect balanced tones . Great starting point from the four preset types . I would recommend it to anyone that has struggled with the perfect delay settings.

The Halo delay

By Lawrence Blume from Ridgefield, WA on October 3, 2023 Music Background: Songwriter and guitar nerd!

This is a great sounding delay, and it is so easy to dial in a variety of presets that can cover soooo much territory. I don't like to deep dive, I'd rather play and this pedal allows me to do just that! I highly recommend this pedal... I have several other pedals and have dialed in the "Halo" rhythm on my Collider and it sounds great too, but this is just Awwwwww

Best Delay Pedal I’ve Ever Ownd

By Tony H. from Las Vegas on July 20, 2023 Music Background: Professional

I'm a professional musician and have owned at least 20-30 different delay pedals. It is very warm sounding and to be honest with you, I'd be happy with the Halo setting alone. OUTSTANDING!!

Great pedal

By Sweetwater Customer on June 14, 2023

This pedal does a lot! And the learning curve is a lot of fun. I would definitely recommend this pedal.

My new favorite pedal

If you're into clean, it all starts here. Pair this with a chorus and the heavens open.

Phenomenal Pedal

By Croz on May 4, 2023 Music Background: Playing for 35+ years; inspired to pick up & playing after hearing 'that solo' on Crossroads. A total tube/analog/tone geek with a Blackstar Black & Blue 6L6, Jeff Beck Strat' & Gretsch G5220 set up.

Mr Keeley, Andy Timmons & Co. have an absolutely stellar creation in the Halo... it is straight forward to 'navigate' & dial-in divine celestial ambience with the Halo!

I have connected the Halo after an Echoplex & before a TC Electronics Hall of Fame... before all of that I have Compression, OD, Fuzz & & then a series of modulation effects. I have tuner/buffer at the front & a PureTone buffer at the end of the chain. Even with some savage OD/Fuzz +/- Modulation the dynamics remain clear & distinct.

I've only had the Halo for a few weeks so I've plenty of variations to discover & play with.

As ever, the physical design, appearance, build-quality & finish from Robert Keeley, are second to none!

Ashton Boyd is my Sales Engineer, first class communication, delivery & customer service; as with everything about Sweetwater it's all quality & professional... great people to do business with... peerless, IMHO.

Thanks amigos!

Perfect delay pedal

By Craig from Alabama on March 15, 2023 Music Background: 35+ years of playing for fun

Just purchased three weeks ago. Having been a fan of Andy Timmons since Resolution, I was excited to hear about his collaboration with Keeley. Within 24 hours, I was hooked on this pedal! Perfectly content with the Halo setting. Shout out to Brian Garza for his professionalism and pedal advice. Well done, Keeley!

Rack Delay in a pedal.

By Dan from Chicago on January 3, 2023

Here's a tone secret. Don't skimp on your delays and reverbs. Get the best of each that you can because those two pedals matter quite a bit in the end result of sounding "amazing" and sounding "ok, but something is missing." The Halo is professional grade covering quarter note, 8th note and the AT Halo style. FYI the AT style is used by many professional session guitarists in your favorite records.

Get this signal chain and you won't put your guitar down.

A good clean boost > Wampler Belle > Digitech Polara > Halo > Fender style or Marshall amp = Euphoria!!

The echo I been looking for

By Tony on December 20, 2022

Was finally able to get the 2 sounds I been wanting by just tweaking 2 presets .Very smooth and Klean natural sounding natural echoes.way more capabilities than I was expecting but Keeley is da man

A pedal that makes me sound like Andy Timmons,gimme2

By Tony from North Carolina on December 20, 2022 Music Background: Started at 12 now I am 70

There's not a bad sound on this pedal and the preset's are great and with just a tad of tweaking them gave me what I was looking but Andy is my fave anyway

Awesome

This thing works'…!

My favorite delay yet and i have had a great many!

By Glen Sorrentino from Tyler, TX on November 30, 2022 Music Background: Hobbyest

Have had many delays both analog, digital, bucket brigade etc. etc.... The Halo does them all well with warmth. Never sounds digital or thin. Hate to use the term sterile but that is still a problem for a great many delays. Next, other delays get in the way of your playing. Some others when designed to duck can't be heard until you stop playing.

In the end, it has been difficult to ever be happy with a delay pedal and out of respect i will not mention the great many. The Halo sounds huge! Yes, i had to tweak the AT setting to my rig but found it easy. The work flow, user presets, size and form factor, and great sound make it a true winner. All the variations are great and show Robert Keeley and team made this for working musicians. This review took several weeks before writing so no honey moon phase here.

Outstanding versatile delay! Just Get it!

By Burnedoutgolfer from Palm desert on October 5, 2022 Music Background: Professional

Just gigged with it and it's amazing how well just dropping the level a touch on Andy's sig preset one tone the chords and single notes just sound incredible blossom out and sit in Your mix. Really great simple to use manual as well. Really looking forward to hopefully years with this pedal. Shout out to Daniel Free and Sweetwater always giving first class customer service!

Subtle and Beautiful

By Adam C from Collinsville on September 13, 2022

Delay and chorus are pedals that are part of my sound and they are on all the time. The Halo brings them together in a subtle manner that is beautiful to my ear, plus I was able to eliminate one pedal off my board so I can make room for another. The Halo is a wonderful pedal and I highly recommend it but you have to get it from Sweetwater because they are the best.

Best delay I’ve used to date!

By Shawn from Tennessee on September 9, 2022 Music Background: Part-time gigging

Keeley makes great pedals but this is the best I've used so far! It doesn't "ping pong" but it is such a lush full delay in stereo! And the "halo" tone! Beautiful! There is so much possibility! I use multiple delays but for most players this is the only delay you would ever need!

Buy the pedal - you already own too much stuff....what's one more pedal??

By Rick K from Lancaster, PA on August 28, 2022

Best delay I have ever owned. Keeley has this one right. No regrets. Thank you for the new inspiration!!

Monster pedal

By Roberto Saavedra from Jacksonville FL on August 23, 2022 Music Background: Hobby/pro

I bought this pedal after watching several videos of Andy Timmons. He mentioned that he is a big fan of Eric Johnson's tone so basically this pedal is like having all those EJ's vintage expensive delays, reverbs. The presets are amazing , the preset #1 is definitely like using Andy Timmons rig. Amazing stuff. The price is worthy.
As always Greg Okeefe great a professional .

Absolutely Amazing Delay! So Organic!

By Hudson from Toccoa GA on August 2, 2022 Music Background: Been playing since the 80’s

First off, I'm not paid to do reviews. Anyways, this pedal sounds JUST LIKE the Keeley/Timmons demo video. Wish my playing was as good as Andy's lol. With a few very minor tweaks to the first 6 presets to fit the songs you're playing, you can easily dial this thing in to play most anything. I did have to download the manual to figure out how to adjust all the parameters. But it only took a couple of minutes and I had it all figured out. Basically each knob controls two settings and you have to hold down the middle knob to get to the second settings on the others. Easy peasy. If you play in stereo just buy it. I have mine running in stereo, in the effects loop of one Friedman Pink Taco

Best Delay Pedal I Have Ever Owned

By Eric O from VA, USA on August 2, 2022 Music Background: 45+ Years of playing

Been playing for over 45 years through tons of gear. I'm not big on signature stuff or anything although Andy Timmons is one of my favorites. Andy and Robert Keeley knocked this out of the park. This is the best sounding delay pedal I have ever owned. Firing it up, the factory presets are lush and sound amazing. I find I am playing those and fine tweaking them.

Just as Advertised!

By Sweetwater Customer on July 14, 2022

I wasn't planning to buy a delay as I already had a Keeley Eccos. However, I couldn't say no to an Andy Timmons/Keeley collaboration! It sits between my Hydra and Eccos with the tap tempo on the Eccos controlling the Eccos and Halo. As far as the sound, the delay sits perfectly behind everything you play while supporting your playing. Even with the feedback and mix relatively high, the repeats still sit behind you almost as a reverb. The presets are very easy to access and switch between. It's exactly what you expect out of Keeley - a great design with great sounds!

Amazing tone right out of the box

By Chris Stark from Hawaii on July 8, 2022 Music Background: Songwriter and performing guitarist

It's pretty much a given that any piece of gear with Andy Timmons' signature is going to be good, but this pedal in particular is brimming with musicality right out of the box without having to mess with anything. The default patch is Andy's own preferred settings, so great tone is waiting for you as soon as you engage the pedal. I received mine a couple of hours before a gig, and I was able to incorporate it into my pedalboard and use it as an integral part of my tone for that gig without having to fuss over the settings at all. I haven't even scratched the surface with what this pedal is capable of, but just scrolling through the built in presets makes it clear that a lot of effort and care went into making this pedal sound fantastic for a broad array of styles.

Unbelievably great sound and value for money

By Sweetwater Customer on July 1, 2022

I've been trying to figure out the Andy Timmons sound for over 10 years now. Quick tip: it helps to be an incredibly melodic virtuoso. Second tip: BUY THIS PEDAL. If you can set up a pair of amps in stereo, hearing the A1 "Halo" setting is a religious experience. Used on a one-amp rig, you still get the magic of your sound becoming HUGE, but without the echo and repeats getting in the way of your primary signal.

I felt like I got my money's worth right there, but this is a stunning sounding box, and I've only scratched the surface. Check out the B2 preset, which is as perfect and spot-on a rockabilly/chickin pickin reverb sound as I've ever gotten in a rig.

Thanks Sweetwater, I received my pedal SUPER fast, with all the usual great service.

To Andy Timmons and the folks at Keeley: Thanks, and can we have more, please!

Keeley and Andy killed it

By Trevorr Nourse from Bentonville, AR on July 1, 2022 Music Background: 40 plus years

After seeing reviews on YT had to buy this new pedal. Only had for a few days but I can honestly say it's a 10 star pedal. Keeley put so much in this little monster. Works well with other pedals, doesn't impact tone other than in a good way.
It adds so much that I find myself using it 100% of the time.
Worth the price. Sweetwater service is also awesome.

Best Keeley Pedal Yet!

By Sweetwater Customer on June 25, 2022

I own a ton of Keeley pedals from the D&M, to the Katana, and beyond. I'm such a big fan of Robert's pedals that I have two of his delays already and decided I needed another. I saw the Halo video on the Sweetwater site with Andy Timmons and was do blown away that I immediately bought one. I am only using the mono output right now and sounds amazing, lush, full, etc. It is really easy to use and has so many great options packed into one pedal. The ability to have two footswitches with four presets each is really handy. This is definitely my favorite pedal of his and is going to get a lot of use. Thanks Sweetwater for fast shipping!!

In a nutshell.....

By Stephen Kelly from Dunedin, FL on December 18, 2023

This pedal is sooo good, that I removed and sold my reverb pedal (RV 6) and believe it or not, I took off the pedal board my Strymon Volante Delay Pedal (not sold though). For me, this pedal is fantastic. Very easy to use, the 8 presets cover everthing I need and then some, especially the halo setting. In stereo with 2 amps, the Halo sound is huge.

Delays do not work together

By JD on October 6, 2022

This is an impressive sounding digital delay pedal, with some great presets. Overall, very high quality sounds. However, it is advertised as a dual echo pedal but you can't have both echos working at the same time. You can just switch between them. How is that different than a digital delay with presets in which you are simply switching between presets? Does it matter if they are independent if you can't blend the two together? Hence the four star rating. Seems like deceptive advertising. Some of the effects sound like there are two delays operating but apparently that is digital simulation.

Beautiful sounding Delay

By Nick from CT on August 19, 2022 Music Background: 30 years stage and studio

For the past 5 years I have been using a Strymon Timeline for my main delays. I have 3 settings I use with that pedal, and one of those is set to Andy's Timeline original halo setting (dual delays with modulation on the repeats). So I have basically had that halo sound for quite some time already. The new Keeley pedal does sound different from the Strymon. The repeats are fatter on the Keeley and more present and the delay is much more up front. The tone of the Halo pedal is warmer than the Timeline as well. I must say though, I still prefer the clarity and the definition of the Timeline, both for the Hallo setting I have programmed into it as well as the other delays. The Keeley does tape echo tones a bit better due to the warmth and fatness of the repeats. The modulation on both pedals is very similar, almost exactly the same. The Keeley also really needs to be used in stereo, when I ran it in mono with Andy's Setting it sounded very cluttered and too busy with a lot of low end on the repeats. The other thing is Andy's stock Halo setting this comes with has the level set very high (too high) to the point where it sounds more like an ambient effect than a normal, usable one. I know he uses a volume pedal to control the delay level though, so maybe that is something to consider using along side this pedal. I think Andy runs this Halo pedal into the front ends of his two clean amps in stereo, while I am using the effects loop of my Friedman. Not sure if that makes a difference in the overall delay level. The one thing I find tricky is that for the Halo sound, it is hard to find where to set the level at, it either sounds too high or too low. You have to work to find that sweet spot where it actually sounds like it is supposed to (too much and it's an extremely ambient, too little and it just sounds like a faint delay without any halo magic going on) This is probably rig dependent, and I am sure if I was using Andy's exact setup it would be fine. It will not replace my Timeline, which to me still sounds better, has more clarity, and better sounding delays overall that stays out of the way when playing. But the Halo is a good place to start if you want to get Andys delay setting easily without buying and tweaking a Timeline and save some space on your board.
