TC Electronic Hall of Fame 2 Reverb Pedal Reviews

Reverb Effects Pedal with 3 TonePrint Slots and Expression-capable Footswitch

The original Hall of Fame is one of the most popular reverb pedals we've seen at Sweetwater, and the TC Electronic Hall of Fame 2 reverb pedal delivers new shimmer reverb algorithms and an innovative Mash footswitch for expressive effects. In addition to toggling the reverb effect on and off, the Mash footswitch is pressure-sensitive so you can use it like an expression pedal to control reverb parameters. And fans of TonePrint effects presets can rejoice — the Hall of Fame 2 reverb pedal boasts three slots for TonePrint presets, allowing you to have three custom-tailored reverb effects at the ready.

More shimmer than most

By Bruce Warner from Jacksonville, FL on January 23, 2024

The upside to this petal is the ambient shimmer. I used the Custom resets along with the petal mode. I love the control. Great for atmospheric layering. I recommend for players seeking boutique level quality and control

High quality, versatile, affordable

By John Johnson from AUSTIN, TX on December 26, 2023 Music Background: Professional guitarist

I have played so many gigs with this reverb, it's always perfect and very affordable for a great pedal

Great Pedal

By Tony Petrites on October 23, 2023 Music Background: Beginner Guitar

I knew nothing about guitar pedals, so I took my Sweetwater Sales Engineer, Stephen Dibble's, advice and bought this one. It does everything I was looking for in a reverb pedal. I haven't even begun to investigate all the sounds that it is capable of yet. I think the preloaded sounds are varied enough that I won't ever need to try to program the three user programmable effects. Thanks Steve!

Don’t Leave Home Without It

By Rick R from MELBOURNE, FL on September 26, 2023 Music Background: Seasoned guitarist, live performer

Reverb is an always-on, non-negotiable effect for me. To me a good reverb should add vibrance to your sound. The Hall of Fame 2 does not disappoint. Tone-transparent, natural quality as though it was analog.

I've long been a hall reverb addict and that setting on this unit stands up to competitors. But I've really fallen in love with the Church reverb, which to my ear is a bit more cavernous and adds a chorus-like flavor. Delicious. The Spring setting is classic and great when I'm going for a straight-ahead bluesy sound.

I'm quite happy with the HoF 2. This sits at the end of my signal chain in the post-preamp FX loop on my Catalyst 60.

Joe Perry Approved

By Jameson Scappaticci from Nashville on September 13, 2023 Music Background: Guitarist of 18 years, several bands, wide range of genres

I've had this pedal on my board since 2017. It hasn't moved. Once I saw that Joe Perry was a big fan of it and used it on the road for a long time, I snagged one. One of the best purchases I've made. It can do absolutely anything you need it to. I keep it set on the Hall setting with the decay and level down pretty low. With a pinch of delay, it really makes my tone thick and smooth. You can't go wrong with this one.

WOW, A True "I will own this for the rest of my life" Pedal!!

By Timothy Hull from LIMA, OH on September 8, 2023

This truly is an "end or the world reverb", if you could only choose one reverb to use for the rest of your life on your pedalboard the Hall of Fame II would hands down be the obvious choice! I've been a Holy Grail guy for years but the HOF-II does all the Holy Grail stuff and so much more, it's super quiet when on or off, and the tone print/mash features give the HOF-II a secret weapon like appeal that gives this particular reverb pedal the potential to be uniquely yours!

Great pedal

Great pedal for the money.
It has tons of options of classic and modern reverbs.
The three tone print slots are also a great advantage
From the normal reverb pedal.

I highly recommend it !!!

Great job TC !!!

Amazing pedal

By Marc from Little Rhody on January 6, 2023 Music Background: Intermediate, Hobbyist.

Has to be best reverb pedal in price range, bought it for the shimmer effect, though it has plenty of other high quality reverb effects with options to adjust as desired.

Exactly what I was looking for!

By Bob Mancini from Ocean State on December 28, 2022 Music Background: Old guy

I recently bought a Fender '57 Champ. Great little living room amp. But I love a touch of reverb. While there are a lot of choices a friend of mine with the same amp was using the HOF reverb and it was a great sound. Based on that experience I bought one. It's perfect for that amp. It does many different reverbs. The amp is much more alive now. Would recommend this pedal to anyone looking for a solid reverb sound.

Best Reverb Pedal for the Money

By Andrew Schwartzenberger from WATERFORD TWP, MI on December 27, 2022 Music Background: Guitar, mandolin, song writing, recording.

The HOF 2 is the best value out there for a Reverb pedal. The Hall, Church and Shimmer options are especially great. The spring is subtle and nice, and the plate is warm and rich. Not to mention the Tone Prints and near-infinite customizability with creating your own custom verbs on the computer. I could go on, but my main point is: If you're on a budget, the HOF 2 is the ideal reverb pedal for you. If you're not on a budget, it is also an ideal pedal that keeps up with the best of the reverb pedals out there.

Does all of the reverbs - endless Toneprint capabilities

By TJ from MA on December 9, 2022

This is a cool pedal because it does all the reverbs and allows you to modify all of them, store elaborate setting from your computer, to your phone, then allows you to update the Toneprint slots on the pedal between sets! Updating the pedal takes seconds by using the phone held against the pickups of your guitar! What black magic is this? It worked flawlessly and quickly.
Stock sounds are great but all needed a bit of tweaking - a little too strident and upfront for my tastes but are again easily modified by the PC software or the 4 knob/switch interface. My setup is mono so no comment on the stereo capabilities.

Hall fame 2 reverb

This is a great pedal who needs tone prints when you have the controls

Simple, superb

By Paul from SANFORD, NC on November 25, 2022 Music Background: Medium bad...

I had a Keeley Hydra I just can't get along with, finally thought I'll just follow the pack and I'm glad I did, this pedal is simply superb, easy to dial in and most importantly, instantly useable sounds... I needed good blues and rock reverb without needing a degree in quantum physics, this delivered. If you want no fuss, does what it says on the box, trust the Danes!

Best Multi reverb for the money

By Marc from Little Rhody on November 15, 2022 Music Background: Hobbyist

Bought it for the shimmer effect, but has outstanding reverb effects, best to use with clean and some crunch and not use with overdrive since it can dampen the sound. Thanks to Nathan K at Sweetwater for his help.

Really Nice

By Tom Held from Louisville Ky. on October 19, 2022 Music Background: Lead Guitar Pony Express Band Louisville.

I use this reverb pedal on its own or in combination with delay pedals. Very versatile with many features. Not sure I can find a song for that MASH button! Really blends well with all my pedals! Really like TC's Pipeline Tremolo also.

Great reverbs

By Mike from Bend, OR on June 21, 2022 Music Background: I am a singer/songwriter/guitarist that plays solo and in a duo with a cajon player.

I love all the sounds I can get from this pedal. I use the lo-fi and shimmer functions the most. As I play with the Toneprints more, I wish the third Toneprint could be used like the other two instead of a fade in. More Toneprint slots would make it even more fun. The mash function on the foot switch adds to the fun.

Hall of Fame 2 is Impressive

By Ronmguitar from DM Iowa on June 8, 2022 Music Background: semi pro

Having used Boss RV verbs for years I was cautious about using another brand. The RV6 and Hall of Fame 2 had similar sounds on the various audio reviews.
I thot that the HOF2 had a slight edge and due to backorder issues with the 6, I ordered the HOF2. As a country, & 50's/60's player I use the Church reverb.
There's no limit to the amount of space you can dial in to the point of too much. I have not used the Mash function or the Tone Prints.
Bottom line is that while the higher priced verbs are probably even more impressive, so is the price and pedalboard real estate.
Great sound and a surprisingly low price makes the HOF2 a great deal.

Perfect Match to my Marshall

By Tom from Michigan on May 13, 2022 Music Background: Studio guitar

I bought this pedal as a compliment to my Marshall Studio Vintage Plexi. The amp stack is so amazing but lacked just that tiny touch of reverb from time to time. After a lot of research I pulled the trigger on this TC. It is a perfect match. More functionality than most will ever need,,,,especially me,,,,but gives so much range of sound. You cannot go wrong with this pedal at this price point. Highly recommended !!

This is the Best Sounding Digital Reverb Pedal Ever Made!

By Sweetwater Customer from Chicago on April 13, 2022

TC makes amazing pedals! Great quality reverb sounds. Go from classic guitar tones to epic, movie soundtrack sounds. Running the pedal through the effects loop of a Laney Cub Super 12. Really clean sounds.

Can't beat this pedal for great reverb

By Thomas Bowlin from North Richland Hills, TX on October 19, 2021

This pedal is packed with a lot of punch. Dollar for Dollar it wipes everything I have seen or used on the market. Easy to use with the capability of updating the software and much more. If your looking for great reverb that's easy to use and sounds great, you can't beat this one.

It’s everything you need

By Andrew from NYC on September 27, 2021

It sounds so good. I tried the cheaper ones and the funky ones. But this one has it all AND has ways to add more sounds using TonePrint. It makes so much sense for someone looking to get a lot out of each pedal. Highly recommended, won't disappoint.

One of the most versatile reverbs out there.

By Nicolas Baloira from Pembroke Pines, FL on September 13, 2021

This reverb pedal really can do almost anything you could ever need. I didn't have a lot of faith on the mash function but I was pleasantly surprised, it's really easy to use and you can get really creative with it. The only thing you could add to this pedal yo make it better is switchable presets and midi control. But the sound itself can do pretty much anything you could ever want.

A Great Reverb Pedal

By John Kirby from Indianapolis on September 9, 2021 Music Background: Long time guitar player and performer

I always judge a new pedal by how fast and easily I can get a good sound out of it. The Hall of Fame2 delivers on this. Right out of the box and into my signal chain, I could get great reverb sounds with very little tweeking need. Now there are still many variations that can be achieved and that are both interesting and useful. I just like a few basic and reliable reverb sounds. The Hall of Fame2 delivers for me, but also keeps me interested in trying out new settings. Sweetwater service, delivery, and support are excellent

TC Electronics Hall of Fame II Reverb

By Warren Lane from Sevierville, TN on May 10, 2021 Music Background: Been playin' since I was 12 and now I'm 70

This will be my only reverb pedal that I'll ever use. First, I love the tone print slots for loading your own designed tone prints or tone prints others have designed. Sweetwater is my "go to" music store I'll ever use. I love all of the reverb sounds that are produced by this pedal. Even my wife told me that my guitar really sounds good now that I've received the HOF2 reverb. For the price point this pedal cannot be beaten. Camerson Green, my sales engineer, has gone above and beyond the call of duty. Sales personnel like him is what makes the Sweetwater experience well worth doing business with. Just realize that the MXR patch cables with the large head will not work with TC Electronic stereo pedals. The heads are too big to patch one pedal (with stereo inputs and outputs) to another TC Electronics pedal. I highly recommendSweetwater and the TC Electronics HOF2 reverb pedal. They sound great!!!!!

Incredible for the price point

By Emil JJ from Morgan Hill, CA on February 11, 2021 Music Background: Many years of recording and performing experience

This reverb sounds amazing and has lots of features and reverb sounds for an amazing price point. I bought two, one for my electric rig and one for my acoustic rig. The shim setting is amazing and the mash feature is killer. I'm considering getting a higher end reverb like the H9 or a Strymon, but will probably keep this as my "always on" reverb.

A Solid Choice

By Albert from San Diego on February 2, 2021 Music Background: Gigging/recording

I don't see any reason to give this Reverb pedal less than 5 stars. Multiple settings, 3 Tone Print slots, parameter controls, stereo ins and outs, analog-through signal, option to set to bypass or buffered, expression capability via the ingenious mash button, solid construction... all for a very affordable price! But does it sound good? Of course it sounds good. It is a swiss army knife and an excellent entry point into reverb in general. Sure, later on you might end up with a specific boutique reverb pedal that you love... but you'll remember this one fondly.

Great pedal

By Mike on January 29, 2021

I like to use the shimmer and volume swells to quickly add fake organ to recordings.

Sent in in for repair 22 Months after purchasing and received a brand new unit today Sweetwater rocks!

Surprises abound just a knob tweak away

By Sweetwater Customer on December 23, 2019 Music Background: Semi pro, 50 yrs playing blues, classic rock and jam band progressive

Bought the HOF2 for reverb on a new Marshall Origin 50 combo amp purchase. The pedal is well built and has so many cool things it can do. I am still learning, a bit of learning curve but tweak the knobs and experiment, you will love all it can do. Spring reverb setting is awesome for 75% of my amp needs, but I just started figuring out the amazing variety of tones the shimmer setting does and how to use the expression feature of the switch.

For Minimal Knobs, It Sounds Fab

By James A. Pavlic on April 18, 2019

By far the nicest Reverb pedal out there; and, you can't beat the price. Very easy to control as well with only four knobs, a toggle switch, and a bypass switch (which doubles as a sustain pedal). The sounds you get from this pedal are incredible as well; and, I especially like the Shim effect for more ambient effects. The amount of power it requires though works nicely with my Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus power supply. Get this pedal. You won't regret it!

Absolutely Amazing!

By Greg B on February 21, 2019 Music Background: 40+ years of piano, guitar, Chapman Stick and mandolin

Not only is this an amazing reverb pedal, but the quality and price point have me thinking about replacing some of my Boss pedals with TC Electronics pedals.

The reverb types are all incredible. The Shimmer reverb is amazing. I'm running stereo in and out and it sounds amazing. The Mashable footswitch gives you a built in expression pedal. And speaking of the foot switch, it's a silent, clickless switch. It's just another feature which makes you realize that this is a quality pedal.

ECHO... echoooo...

By Sweetwater Customer on November 15, 2017 Music Background: Professional worship leader & gigging musician.

So the mash button is pretty cute and is nice to have, but what I really wanted was the shimmer effect. It did not disappoint. The added TonePrint slots are also handy. I highly recommend the one by Mateus Asoto . Very lush, very present. I've tried the RV6, which is also solid, but it was tonally colder to my ear whereas HOF2 seams pretty warm to me. I say TC nailed this one.

P.S. If you want the delay trails to fade out after you disengage the pedal instead of the abrupt cut-off, set it to buffered bypass mode with the internal switches. The included manual tells you how.

Great Pedal

By LAConrad from Tucson AZ on November 13, 2017 Music Background: Professional Musician

Wonderful reverb pedal! Love the ability to tweak via a wealth of presets available through TonePrint library. Push a button on your iPhone and whala! Could not ask for more from a Reveb pedal for the price.

Awesome reverb in a small board friendly footprint. Great sounding and very versatile. The mash feature is a great added bonus that I'm loving. I haven't delved into using the Toneprint feature yet but am looking forward to what it offers.

Fantastic Features!

By Eric on October 13, 2017

I wanted a good sounding Reverb, but what I got was a great one. With the addition of the Expression pedal, this thing gives me even more flexibility than I would have imagined. Dial in a reasonable amount of reverb, then lean onto it when you need a little or a lot more and suddenly you have it.

I have played with some of the features, but I usually just use the 'Church' setting and the mash pedal.

This little jewel has so many applications for your tone. I like each of the reverb algorithms. The Mash functionality puts it over the top. The video presentation for this item tells it like it is, and there's more to unlock once you play with the decay, tone and level settings on your own.

Yep This Is the Reverb Pedal

By Victor from Princeton on July 19, 2017 Music Background: Giging Musician

I love Reverb and have had pedals from TC, ELX, Neunaber, Strymon, Boss and a few others. This was well thought out. The Mash function is brilliant. The Shimmer and Hall preset are my primary settings. I am very impressed by the tone of the reverb trails as they are not grainy or muddy. I use this pedal on nylon strings for Nuevo Flamenco, Flamenco, Classical, Rumba, Jazz and this pedal gives me great Reverb though my Bose Systems and it's clear and musical Reverb. It won't hurt the tone or Sonic experience that the audience hears. The audiance will be inveloped into this lush and transparent Reverb. Thanks Sweetwater for getting it to me fast, even though USPS shows it not delivered it's on my pedal board.

Look no further

By Anthony Perez on June 29, 2017

If you are looking for a reverb pedal look no further this pedal does it all. I have gone threw numerous amount of reverb pedals and this one takes the cake. Every setting is very musical. I have had the H9 and the big sky and this pedal is in the same league in my opinion. Thanks to my Sales Engineer Ben Robinson for recommending it to me now I never have to look for a reverb pedal again.

Super Sweet

By Dan Hoehne from Peoria IL on June 24, 2017

One word for this pedal..Sweet! As always with TC gear, super clean high-quality gear. The Shimmer preset is mind blowing. All of the free stuff bring some rich flavor to my electric and my acoustic rigs. Now add in the mash function.....over the top. Was leery about the mash function but it works as advertised. The ability to customize the pedal and assign different functions to the mash feature make this an unbelievable value at a hundred fifty bucks. Pairing this up with the flashback delay delivers incredible sounds. If you're looking for a Reverb pedal, pull the trigger on this new gem.

The Mash button is the secret sauce

By Johannes from NYC on December 11, 2023

My reverb needs are pretty simple. I need a nice room, a nice plate and something shimmer-y. All of those basses are covered in spades by the HOF2. What really sets it apart from any other reverb pedal I can think of is the "Mash" button. Forgive me if others have pointed this feature out, I haven't read all the reviews. Here's how it works: With the pedal on, you push and stay on the button. This triggers additional features to the reverb you've currently chosen. In most cases, it lengthens the decay, which is a great spice to add here and there. There are also settings in which it does bat crap crazy things, like swirling tails and even tremolo-like stuff. I've been tempted to get other reverb pedals over the years, but this expressive feature has stopped me from ditching the little red box.

Great add.

By Sweetwater Customer on November 25, 2021 Music Background: Couch Rocker

Tons of options to truly dial in a sound all your own. Functionality is spot on, easy to use. Make sure you have a DC power adapter. I tried to run 9v batteries and they don't last for much more than a session.

My first Revebr pedal, and it couldn't be better. Al the built in presets from Spring to Shimmer are great and for a first timer its cool to play and explore all this different sounds. Sounds great stacked with my East River Drive!

NICE REVERB PEDAL!

By VonBach from Arkansas on November 23, 2020 Music Background: Let's not get into that right now...

This replaced a Keeley Omniverb. I thought the Omni would be nice and easy to use, but it really lacked a usable sound. This HOF2 is amazing. I prefer Plate for my guitar sounds and this thing produces beautiful Plate Reverb without having to tweak it at all. Select Plate from the Reverb Type, set the volume and Decay knobs to suit, and DONE...really lush, tame, Plate reverb that sounds natural. I'm a Fan.

Reverb heaven

By Rich Birdsong from Kansas City, Mo. on April 27, 2019 Music Background: Garage band washout, free lance audio engineer

For a novice guitar player like myself, this pedal has opened up a great many options that I would normally have left up to plug ins to do. I am familiar with reverb and it's nuances due to my background in studio and live events and this unit continues to amaze me with its subtleties. I have yet to explore all the extremes of each setting, but what I've heard so far is clean and pure. If it's one thing I've learned in buying equipment is you get what you pay for. Occasionally you get more and that's how I feel about HOF2. There are other reverb units in the same price range but I feel this outshines them all. With tone print capabilities and the expression footswitch, I don't see anything that compares to it.

Very good quality pedal

By Kevin Trawick from Arlington, TX on April 11, 2019 Music Background: Playing in bands and gigging for a long time

Being used to using the spring reverb on a Fender for 20+ years, I was a little overwhelmed with this pedal at first. I am a plugin and play kind of guy, so it took a little while for me to warm up to this pedal. Having started playing Marshall amps again I needed a good Reverb pedal. This Hall of Fame pedal is really exceptional in the way it has so many tones that are just waiting on me to dial in. It has a great sound overall.
If TC would take this pedal and make it where the user could dial in 3 or 4 particular reverb settings, and be able to save them and then recall them with the click of a foot switch they would really have something IMO.

Fun pedal with all new design!

By Geoff from Austin, Tx on December 6, 2018 Music Background: 17 years experience

Wow... What a great pedal and sound. In fact this TC Electronic Hall Of Fame 2 is technologically pushing the envelope. This company has some pretty great patent pending contributors. I've used TC for years now and remember trying to wrap my mind around the whole TonePrint software when that happened. Well now they've done it again with their all new "Mash" foot-switch technology. This is such a great new feature and really opens the pedal up to a much bigger sound as it works as a pressure switch, similar to an expression pedal. TC has also added the new shimmer effect and I believe another memory bank for your own personal creation to be stored. Now, I'll admittedly say all of this rolled into a tiny package like this can be overwhelming but don't let it scare you. I rated the Hall Of Fame 2 a 4.5 simply because I'm a bit old-school and kind of miss that hard "CLICK" to let you know it's on or off when on stage. Literally that is my only difficulty with the new actuator and design. In all other areas, this pedal is a perfect 10/10 in control-ability and presence, quality of sound. These Hall Of Fame pedals are truly mesmerizing; unlike an amps spring reverb or a pure digital copy, you "feel" this pedal fusing to your tone instead of just adding to it.
I promise you will never regret the sound this creates! From a bedroom, to Wembley Stadium, all the way up to almost an ethereal spacey quality. The sky is the limit... Buy it!
Also, a massive thank you to my sales representative, Michael Morgan!

Lives Up to the Hype

By Adrian Castro on November 28, 2018 Music Background: Amatuer for 10 years

For context, the HOF2 is my first not "cheap" reverb pedal, and I'm running it with an SG standard in front of a Marshall Class5.

The HOF2 is a really dope pedal. All of the default reverb types sound really good through the front of my Class5, and handle gain (OCD) really well. I was pleasantly surprised by the tonal flexibility afforded by the tone, level and decay knobs. If I have a specific reverb sound in my head, I can dial it in with minimal fuss. I know that the mash and tone print functions are a huge selling point for the HOF2, but don't let that dissuade you if you're a "set and forget it" kind of player. This thing is great right out of the box!

Beautiful

By Ray Morgan from Pennington Gap, VA on September 11, 2018 Music Background: Played simi-professional in many bands sice the late 60,

A beautiful sound. Great reverb. I like the Spring (sounds like a REAL spring), the Hall and especially the Shim (shimmer). By adjusting the knobs you can get some very interesting and useful reverb and then something else. I am a degreed Electrical Engineer (BSEE)

Stellar reverb.

By Javier V. from Azusa, CA on January 3, 2018 Music Background: Bass and guitar player.

Well, it exceeded my expectation. For the modest cost, this is a great sounding pedal and very easy to use. It earned its spot in the ever growing pedal board. Highly recommended. Have not been disappointed by tc electronic yet. Yes, there are five other tc pedals in the collection.

Amazing Reverb

By Sweetwater Customer on August 29, 2017

Threw my Chicklet reverb off my board, so limited, this thing does everything I need it to and a lot more. The chicklet was limited to a subtle spring reverb and this one can hit that and then go beyond into ridiculous hall tones, an awesome lofi tone, etc, etc.. Most pedals on my board do one thing well, I set them and just leave the setting and never touch the knobs again, except for the occasional tempo adjustment. This one I actually use the hell out of the settings. It almost does too many things well because I have to tweak knobs between songs. I used to just set my boring spring reverb pedal and never touch it again. It sounded alright, but wasn't super impressive.

I am only docking a half star because my computer fails to detect my pedal so I can't use the toneprint editor. It's something I don't really need, I get all the tones I need and more without it, but it would be fun if it worked and I could toy around with it. Hopefully a fix rolls out soon, but it's not a deal breaker - it's just way beyond extra if I had those capabilities.. I can still load presets in via the phone app played into the guitar pickup, which is cool, so I can still fill those 3 toneprint slots with other options. I mostly stick to plate, spring, shimmer, and lofi presets anyway.

Sometimes less is more

By Sweetwater Customer on October 10, 2023

Bought a demo model. Wanted to add reverb to my Fender Excelsior. I really wanted the original Hall of Fame. Mainly because I have no need for the mash switch. As far as reverb it does that very well. If the switch ever fails then replacement might be a problem. The switch takes just the lightest touch. It doesn't click like most pedals. Also it's made in China which sucks.

Great stereo reverb in a small package with some innovative engineering.

By Michael G Sirmans from GA on February 26, 2020 Music Background: guitar player, producer, live sound, recording, mastering.

I have used TC Electronics products for a long time and have used the previous version of this pedal and enjoyed all of them. They are easy to use, the controls make sense and the available algorithms all sound very good and are useful. The only reason that I would NOT give this device a 5-star review has nothing to do with the sound or features, but the TC Electronic toneprint editor is the most difficult and annoying implementation of an otherwise good concept. While you can deep dive and edit many parameters, it is impossible to "audition" anything in the library without loading it into the pedal blindly. The human interface is difficult, and non-intuitive in ways that just strain the imagination. The parameters don't always show on the screen of your computer at once, with you having to page through tabs to get to relative information. TCE should take a lesson from how other effects managers from companies like Roland do similar things with their products. The BOSS MS-3 patch editor is a great example of how you do it right. Knobs look like knobs. Range of motion with the mouse is not restricted to just the tiny lines on the screen (i.e.; you can point just outside of the knob for a larger range of motion and greater detail). Feedback is given both with a graphic representation of the knob moving against a scale, and a number in an editable box changing with the movement of the knob. Even the graphical representation of the controls with the TCE toneprint editor looks dated. The librarian feature relies too much on YouTube for a real time demonstration of the effect. It should just load the effect into a "scratch pad" area and allow you to modify it in real time with a range of suggestions, before committing to loading it into one of the available slots.
The sound of the TCE HOF2 is stellar for a reverb, and it takes very little space from your pedalboard real estate. It handles monophonic signals with mono or stero outputs and can sum stereo signals to mono if needed. It is a very good piece of engineering. The toneprint editor on the other hand, has a horrible interface that could use improvement.

Works good with my Marshall Origin 50

By Sweetwater Customer on November 17, 2019

Bought the pedal to use with a new Sweetwater mod Marshall Origin 50 combo with creamback Celestion. Spring reverb setting does nice glassy tone with my 3 pickup Tele. Using the Church setting with gain cranked up gives huge headroom. Well done TC Electronics. My only negative is the stops on the reverb type selection knob needs better position clicks as it is hard to feel the stop point.

Sweet Reverb

By Brad from Richmond, VA on September 17, 2019 Music Background: Experienced

Very versatile reverb pedal. Solid build, quality switches. Lots of ways to tweak the reverb to get it just right for your environment and sound.

Great reverb. Will cover MOST of your needs, but not all.

By JKC from New York on September 10, 2019 Music Background: Songwriter, Guitarist, Recordist

The regular modes are fantastic. Hall, Room, Plate, sound terrific. They can do subtle backseat sounds just to add a little space, or be featured and more lush. They always let your attack and clean signal shine through though, which is important. There are a number of areas where HOF2 lacks though. The Spring, just like the original HOF isn't very useful at all. It's not as good as a basic on-amp reverb, it definitely doesn't do drip or anything remotely surfy. It sounds more like a slap back echo, which honestly, is handled better with a delay pedal. I don't really care for the Shimmer sound, which I'm disappointed about. It's just very repetitive, and just swells in some octave type stuff every time. I have Shimmer plugins on my DAW that do amazing atmospheric things to my sound, but that's not happening here. Church and Mod sounds are pretty good. I haven't dug into Toneprints yet. Maybe there are better shimmer style reverbs in there. We'll see. The Mash feature is neat, but other than the volume swell toneprint (the one that comes stock in position 3) I'm not sure I'll find a real practical purpose for it. All in all, for a basic reverb with different types, it does an excellent job. I have the HOF2 teamed up on my board with a Source Audio True Spring (that handles the true surfy drip), and a Catalinbread Topanga (which does dirty surfy reverb, with less or no drip, very well). You can never have enough reverb! I can honestly that the HOF2 does the basic utility reverbs way better than either of those other two can, so I'm definitely a fan of HOF2, even with it's shortcomings.

Definitely worth the money

By Jeff on March 16, 2018 Music Background: Professional Musician

After being unimpressed with another reverb pedal, Sweetwater was gracious enough to refund and recommend this. Gotta tell ya, this blows the other verb pedal (in the same price range) out of the water! Very smooth and natural sounding. No gimmicky settings like "Reverse". All the settings are tameable and useable in live playing situations. Haven't gotten into the Tone Print feater yet, but it looks promising. Was a little nervous because all the demo vids showed it being used with an electric guitar, but it works great with my acoustic. At the moment I'm playing a Norman B20 with Fishman pickup along with a chorus pedal into a p.a. The HOF reverb pedal does exactly what I need it to do... sit there on the floor and sound good with easily made adjustments.

Nice pedal but....

By Steen from MI on August 9, 2017

I have been a big fan of TC Electronic pedals ever since the toneprint series. As soon as this pedal was announced I had to get it. When comparing this pedal and the old Hall of Fame, I dont feel its worth the money to upgrade. If you always wanted the Hall of Fame you should buy this one but if you have the last model pass on this one. Mash and shimmer are cool but still not another $150 worth, Im taking this back and using Hall of Fame #1 still.

My second one

By Arlo on June 14, 2022 Music Background: Pays the bills

I bought a pre Barenger one in 2015 and
It works great .
I tried and returned several more expensive brands
That didn't sound any better .
I needed another for another board so I bought another
Hof2 .
The only problem so far is the button .

The original has a mechanical button will turn on and off
With no power .

The hof 2 if your batterie goes dead it won't bypas .
And you have no sound at all depending on where
The unit is in the chain.
If you have a batterie in it and a power supply
Plugged in and the batterie goes dead it is the same
No sound .
Just have to remove the battery .the switch won't work with no power .
The mechanical switch was and is more reliable

Jack of all trades, master of none

By Brandon from Sacramento on November 29, 2021 Music Background: This is where you look to judge if you're better than me

This is a very versatile reverb that does nothing badly and nothing great. I'm not that into the Shimmer setting, which everyone else seems to be in love with (it just gets so loud and it's basically an octaver, not a huge innovation here). The Hall and Lofi settings are the best of the default, but be warned: NONE of the default settings have any discernible Mash function. This was very disappointing to me, especially having also purchased the Flashback 2 X4, on which every default setting has a Mash function that does at least something. Mostly the HoF 2 Mash defaults just decrease the decay time, which isn't a feature. I bought a reverb pedal to ADD reverb, not subtract it. You're pretty much buying the pedal for the 3 user slots, where you will spend many hours just trying to learn how to use the unintuitive software. I'll never understand why TC decided to hide their best feature behind multiple barriers to entry. I'll keep this pedal until I can afford a Strymon in a couple years.

No High End

By Chip from Indiana on February 3, 2023

I thought the algorithms were robotic and unnatural sounding. Also not a lot of high end sparkle. Even the plate setting was very dull.

Nice unit, but be advised.

By Sweetwater Customer on November 16, 2022

To begin with I was not informed that it requires a power supply that is not included. I thought this not too big a deal because it can run on a 9 volt battery. Be advised: battery life on this unit is less than 30 minutes. It cost me $ in batteries for less than an hours use! I finally located a power supply cord but it's only about 4 ft long. I do not find it coveniant to be so close to a socket to play.

Sounds to electronic

By Dustin on September 29, 2017

This pedal is built great and has tones of options. The problem for me is everything gets a robo effect sound to it. I was hoping for a more organic sound.

Feature rich, but icy tone

By Steve A from Virginia on September 6, 2017 Music Background: Aspiring middle-aged rock star

Based on reviews of this pedal and its predecessor, I had very high hopes. After playing with it some, I was impressed by the wide range of available reverb types. The pedal is very well designed, feature-wise. The pressure-sensitive MASH feature, which replicates expression pedal functionality, is very nice.

In the end, though, I decided that this pedal sounds a little too icy and "digitized" for my taste. Perhaps some of the available TonePrint downloads might be better than what's already on the dial. For now, I will stick with the reverb that is built in to my amp.

Button didn't last

By Clint Nichols from MOUNTAIN HOME, AR on October 10, 2023

Not even a year in and the button don't turn the pedal on. I've been really careful with it but when I took the back off to put a 9V in the button quit working. Oh well lesson learned. Replaced it with a Boss RV-6.

Problems- Service? Forget it.

By Sweetwater Customer on October 29, 2019

I bought one of these, - tried to contact TC ELectronics for service since the MASH switch did not function in true bypass mode- and FORGET IT. You cannot get any service for a TC Electronics pedal since its all handled online by Music Tribe which will not respond to service requests. I will NEVER buy another TC Electronics pedal for this reason alone- and I've tried two of their other pedals, which were less than thrilling to begin with. The reverb sounds on this pedal are fine, the Mash function is baloney.

The Pedal is Useless...really.

By Doc from Tejas on December 15, 2023 Music Background: Professional Musician

You Know, I might be a Old School Dude...because I appreciate Good Old Fashion'd Tube Spring Reverb...The "Hall of Fame 2" as it's called definitely has Piss-Poor Reverb...Then the Pedal has allot of Choices I wouldn't dare Use in Studio...
I'm going to have to Buy the Fender Tube Spring Reverb Head and write off this Loss...I could buy a Cheap Reverb Pedal that will sound as good as this Digital Watch...
I need analog Tube Signal..Real Reverb with Springs...The Best.

Ugh

By Sweetwater Customer on March 29, 2019

Like the sound and versatility but there's one major problem, they quickly die. Got my first one it would not work with a battery and couldn't connect to tone print editor then it just quit after maybe twenty minutes sent it back and waited a week for a new and it didn't even work at all. So I gave up! Sent them back.

Foot Switch Broke

By Mick from Matawan, NJ on August 30, 2023 Music Background: Guitar Player, 30 years

After gentle use, the foot switch completely fell off the pedal. If you try to contact TC Electronics online, you will be given the runaround and there is literally no way to get any kind of customer service. The pedal is now useful only as a paperweight. I threw it out. I will never by a TC Electronics product again. Terrible company, not a durable product.

Did I get a lemon?

By Steve from Indiana on November 25, 2022

Having read many reviews singing this little pedal's praises, you can imagine my disappointment when mine failed to live up to the hype. Once it decided to work it was very noisy when disengaged (true bypass?) and had terrible radio ingress when active. Obviously, lots of people like this pedal. I don't happen to be one of them. I wonder if the switch from manufacturing in Thailand to manufacturing in China has affected the quality of the build. Maybe I just got a lemon?

Pedal stopped working after a few months

By Jeff from Rockford,Il on November 30, 2019 Music Background: Former Gigging Musician

After only a few months and not a ton of use the unit now will intermittently turn off and sometimes will turn on with the foot switch and sometimes not. Put in a repair ticket today, will see if they really do have a three year warrenty

Battery Killer

By Ralph on November 15, 2019 Music Background: hobbyist

The HOF pedal sounded good, seemed to be built well, but killed two nine volt batteries within six minutes. These were new Duracell bateries. If you are going to develop a pedal that runs on batteries, you need to use technology that will make the battery last longer in your pedal. The other choice your company should consider is to include a power adapter. I returned the pedal because of this issue. Disappointed, big time.
