Of all the money I've wasted in ten years trying to buy a quality throne with a quality backrest, I could've bought ten tama round riders with backrest. After a sprained back twelve years ago I retired from the rock gigs. I now play in a praise band twice a week. This backrest, in a very short time, has kept me from retiring completely. I adjusted into my lower lumbar area fully forward. I can sit up straight and play with this backrest taking all the stress away!!! Won't retire for a few more years!

I purchased this to make my Tama Round Rider Cloth Top throne more ergonomic. I am more accustomed to the Roc-N-Soc backrest, which sits higher against my back. This one does not go up as high as the Roc-N-Soc on their thrones, but that brand does not go as low as this one, and the ergonomics are very different. Once I became accustomed to the placement things worked out for me.

What I love about this attachment and the Tama throne/backrest design overall, is setup and tear down. Compared to my Roc-N-Soc, which breaks down into four pieces (tripod, seat, L-attachment and backrest) this one does not need any setting up beyond attaching the seat to the tripod and lifting the backrest into its upright position. The Roc-N-Soc requires actual assembly and disassembly, which is not nearly as convenient.

Do understand that this will add a lot of weight to your throne. I purchased this and the Round Rider throne to lighten the load imposed by my Roc-N-Soc throne. When all was said and done they weigh about the same.

Bottom line, I need a backrest of some sort and this is perfect for my gigging throne. I still prefer my Roc-N-Soc for permanent use in my studio, but for gigging this plus the throne is a perfect solution for my needs.

I can spend hours on my drums, especially behind the DAW, this backrest has saved my life! My back aches could cut my hours short but with this, the pain is gone. Thank you SweetWater, thanks Cody!

I should have bought one of these years ago. I am much more relaxed while playing. As with anything I have ever bought from Tama, this is a very well made product.

This backrest has been a great and has helped me tremendously. It is well thought out since all you had to do was bolt it to the 1st chair seat which was already tapped and it was on in minutes.
Very well constructed and should last a very long time. Comfortable and adjustable, I felt the difference immediately and have adjusted the height of the backrest once and that"s it.
Your posture at the kit does have some effect on your playing over time, so if your having issues with your back, this backrest addition is a very good idea.

Had no idea how much posturing plays in drumming for long periods! With the TAMA FIRST CHAIR BACKREST; l set up straighter and take off stress of my lower back. Should have ordered this sooner! Highly recommend!
