IMPRESSIVE
Put it through the stress test using my all tube Ampeg SVT 2 Pro. Never farted out. Crystal clear, no frequency problems and sounds incredible when over driven hard. 2 1/2 day delivery by FedEx freight. Thanks Bob Mondok, Scott DeMarco and David Snyder.
The missing piece in my rig
As soon as I connected this to my stalwart B4R mono bridge I knew I made the right decision to go with this cabinet. With a few tweaks of my gear I was able to capture the chest thumping snarl I always heard in my head but was never able to quite create with my other cabs. Classic Ampeg tone with tons of headroom and clarity - it is well behaved at higher volumes and likes to be pushed. It arrived in pristine condition and looks great out of the box. The tolex was well done and the overall attention to detail in this cab is apparent. I wasn't 100% on the sparkle grill cloth from the pictures but I was sold once I saw it in person. Even at 137 pounds it is manageable to move and is slim enough to slide into the back seat of my truck. In addition to the excellent cabinet, Sweetwater customer service is as good as there is. From the personal care to the ease of arranging shipping and being notified where my order was, it had to have been one of my most painless purchases ever.
Most outstanding cabinet I have ever owned.
I had an SVT straight back cabinet in 1975 and remember how good it sounded. I have owned countless cabinets over the years and decided to get back to the sealed enclosed speaker design. I have played two gigs with this cabinet paired with the Heritage SVT-CL amp. My other bandmates (16 years together) said that they heard certain riffs and nuances that they never knew I was playing. The cabinet has such amazing punch and clarity that I may never use the other cabinets that I own. If you have the the means to haul it, buy it!!!
The Heritage
I had an early 70's SVT 8x10 years ago. This is as close as it gets. If you want one of the best bass cabs available you gotta work a Lil for it. its big. But to be honest, its easier to load in my van than a 4x10. I don't have to lift this thing totally off the ground. Just lean and lift. A 4x10 i have to pick up off the ground. See Dino's YouTube video on loading tips. It sounds incredible. You have to hear it for yourself.
