Great Stuff, Better Service

By Sweetwater Customer from Athens, Ga. on June 10, 2020 Music Background: Songwriter / musician since 1979

I'll make this short,I'd bought a few items at (online) Sweetwater and everything was fine. I purchased a MXR AC Brick and a few months after, it started a loud ringing sound. I'd neglected to register it in time and just put it off. Finally I contacted them and despite this, traded my brick for a new one that has operated fine since. After that I purchased a Fender Hot Rod deluxe extension cabinet that greatly improved my guitar sound. Very professional and prompt service. Sweetwater is cool and I should know.

Value Added

By WMD from North East on March 20, 2020 Music Background: Pleasure

When Paired with Hot Rod Deluxe easily connects and made to fit. Now looks are nice however, what's nice is the smooth sound that is added to the bottom end. I like the way it tamed the high end and smoothed out the low that gives just the right mix. Now when you pair with the H.R.D. that's Value Added

Better than I thought

I have this and the matching HRD, and it really does do what the page describes. It adds a nice, thicker bottom.

I also have a Carvin V3M head, and I was surprised how nice and big it sounded through this cabinet. I honestly did not think a Fender 1x12 would sound so nice for heavier sounds. It must be just the right size for an enclosed 1x12. Hard to go wrong with this cab.

hot rod deluxe

By peter riordan on May 28, 2018 Music Background: played jazz rock guitar since mid sixties

i have recently bought a 112 80 watt Celestion speaker cabinet to accompany my hot rod deluxe amp . I have owned probably 8 or 9 amps over 50 years and none of them have sounded as good as this thing. I run a Gibson 335 as well an Ibanez Silver series strat into it .Just the sweetest tones with this Amp; Highly recommend it.

Couldn't be better

I have a friend that has a Fender Hot Rod combo amp, and I loved the way it sounds, so having a 100 watt all tube head, I wanted nice clean mellow sound, and did not want something that I couldn't easily carry, so when my Sweetwater sales engineer suggested the Fender Hot Rod speaker cabinet, I immediately agreed. I was not disappointed. It has the same awesome sound as what I heard on the Fender Hot Rod combo that my friend plays. I play only clean sounds, so I can't comment on metal or anything else, but my guess is it would be just as great there.

The Epitome of a Perfection Addition

By Christopher Kennedy from Columbia, SC on January 24, 2019 Music Background: Blues / Rock / Rhythm / Funk

The Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 112 extension cabinet is the perfect addition to the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe VI amp, as it adds low and midrange harmonic balance to the audible frequency spectrum produced by an already amazing amplifier. The enclosure"s matching aesthetics and complementary design choices of a Celestion G12P-80 series speaker in a solid-backed, pine cabinet present themselves in a choice package at an acceptable price.

The crystalline clear, pristine tones of one's amp are nothing but improved upon by the purchase of the 112. You won"t know what you"re missing from your guitar"s tone until you hear it. Another unbeatable purchase from Sweetwater!

Fender Hot Rod Ext. Speaker

By Jack from CT. on March 17, 2017 Music Background: Christian Rock and Blues

Good sounding cabinet. Made a difference in the low end , made my hot rod sound a little more like my old twin. Cabinet was built well and I like the cover and cable coming with it is a surprise. Very big sound , I used it with an old Princeton Reverb and that sounded great too. I checked all the fasteners in the cabinet and most of them were pretty loose. A little preventative maintenance. Probably from the wood drying out and shrinking a little. I would recommend this to anyone that needs a little more headroom and projection out of their amp.

Good Value.

I bought this cab to go with my late 90`s Fender Hot Rod Deluxe Amp. I also tried it with my Deluxe Reverb reissue, and my Blues Jr. Amp (with it plugged into the jack for the internal speaker as this amp has no provision for an extension cab). It greatly expands the sound of both the Hot Rod Deluxe and Deluxe Reverb amps when used with the internal speakers. Used alone with the Blues Jr. Amp it really doesn`t do much for it although if you`re looking for a way to thicken up the sound of single coil pickups it will do that, as it does when plugged into the other two amps and used along with their internal speakers.
I do wonder if this cab could benefit from a partially open back. When used alone with any of these amps it does sound a bit stiff, as though the speaker could move more freely if there were at least a port to let air move behind the speaker. I may make a half back for it and see how that sounds.
Build quality is very good, as you would expect from Fender. I also looked inside, it really does have a Celestion speaker in there that says Ipswich England on it.

112 HR DeLuxe ext. Cab

By Jerry Dye from Wayzata, MN USA on December 25, 2012 Music Background: Nearly 50 years, semi-pro, bass & guitar. Recording & live sound.

Sounds swell. I have tried it with my Hot Rods, an old Baby Showman & currently have it plugged into an old Temolux, which is fabulous.

The Celestion in sealed cab is just what I was looking for. I would prefer a cab & baffle of birch-ply, to cut the weight a bit, however.

Recommended, it's a good value.

Built Beautifully

By kcvald from Southern California on May 11, 2018 Music Background: Gospel, Sessions, Bands

I"m using it with a 100W Carvin V3 head. As expected the G12 speaker isn"t ideal for shred, it"s flubby in the low end with high gain. The cabinet itself is such a nice quality build. Has a slick boutique look to it and is only 1" shy of matching my head for width. Looks good on stage. With the right speaker it"ll do wonders. Sounds great with a clean or slightly pushed raspy, honky tone that"ll make your strat or tele SING.

Good value but...

By Jeff Webb from Gainesville, Ga on April 21, 2021 Music Background: Very experienced

I purchased this budget friendly cab so I could easily swap out and test different speakers. The build quality and look of the cab are nice. The size of the cab is just right. Recognizing at this price point compromises are made, the stock Celestion speaker was disappointing.

With the stock speaker and my Fender 68 Custom Deluxe Reverb, I did experience the low and mid bump expected and the sometimes Fender spikey highs mitigated (which was part of the end goal along with a bigger sound for stage). But something about the low and mid boost from this closed back cab was not completely working for me... a bit boomy and not articulate.

After some swapping and testing I found I liked the sound of the cab best with my Warehouse ET65. The frequency response of this speaker gives less pronounced low end than the stock Celestion but more than the Deluxe Reverb open back, with "better" mids. Realizing "better" is subjective the lows, mids and highs with the ET65 seemed very balanced with no band too pronounced compared to the stock speaker. All in all more "natural" sounding.

Certainly at the price point I have no trouble recommending this cab if you need a bigger sound for stage. Your style may fit the speaker choice from Fender perfectly.
