I have owned this guitar more than two years. My experience with acoustic guitars is the more and the longer you play them, the more their tones open and warm up. This was good guitar with that signature Martin sound right out of the box. I really wasn't that impressed with the built-in Fishman Aura system at first, preferring to play it unplugged. Several months ago I brought it to a church gig and plugged it into the house PA and, wow, the aging process made it sound like a different animal. One thing I did early on was to have a tech do a pro set-up to suit my playing style and preferred strings. It played much easier because if it. Super good guitar, great tone, nice tonal balance. I'll be taking this one to my grave.

Naturally the Martin HD28E was everything I could hope for. From the beautifully crafted neck to the rosewood and spruce body that gives it the most elegant and full sound. I may have been able to find this guitar a little cheaper else where however one thing I am positive of is I WILL NOT find a better sales rep/ customer service anywhere. Here is just a sample of why I say that. Not only did Cory do an amazing job answering all of my question without feeling like I have bothered him in any why but as if I was talking to a friend. The following day I found a beautiful leather strap that I had to have for my new Martin. Low and behold not even an hour later Cory messaged me that he adding the strap with the guitar and made sure the humidor that I also ordered was installed as well so I could get everything at the same time. The team that they have at sweetwater is beyond amazing and because of Cory I will be a lifetime customer of sweetwater. Keep up the great work guys!!!

If you think of shopping elsewhere you will probably regret it.

I told myself as I approached the age of 50, I would own a Martin HD-28. I could not be happier. This guitar is a work of pure beauty and rings with rich and balanced tone. The instrument came within two days and was in perfect condition. I can't say enough about the great customer service provided to me by Paul Rowan. He answered all of my questions and was just wonderful to talk to about music as I play multiple instruments. This is the third instrument I have purchased from Sweetwater and they will have my business for the foreseeable future.

I was deciding between two very diff guitars. The HD28E and a 814 Taylor. Both wonderful but very different. The HD 28 of course has the signature sweet tone with a a strong but not overpowering bass and rhythm to it. The sweetwater rep was super helpful throughout the process. So glad I was able to finally make this purchase.

I just received this wonderful Martin guitar. I have a Taylor 814e and Gibson J45 Hummingbird but this is my first Martin D28. The sound is terrific from both acoustic and the Fishman electronics, and the touch is better than I expected. I am a real fan of Fishman, which was the thing that attracted me to the HD28E rather than the D28 acoustic. Patrick was terrific to answer my questions and assist with the purchase and delivery. If you are looking for a great guitar, consider this Martin classic with the updated electronics.

My very first Martin, I've had Taylor's and switched to Gibson's and decided to expand my collection. It was a love/hate for the first day or so as the Fishman electronics are different from any of my prior guitars. I have changed my amp and pedal settings getting the sound where I like it and am really starting to enjoy the guitar. Sweetwater set it up with super low action and it took some getting used to also. I'll wait for the guitar to settle in here, put my normal strings on it and raise the action slightly if needed at that time. But it's a quality guitar that I'm proud to have in my collection.

First, Zack Davidson at Sweetwater is awesome and helped get an incredible and new Martin HD-28 into my hands. I love the guitar! It's as close to perfect as a guitar can be!

Just what you'd expect from this time proven classic. It's absolutely magnificent, so warm and full in the lows and mid-ranges, yet bright and crisp in the highs.

The guitar was packed perfectly! My outer box was pretty beaten up (thanks FedEx!) but the inner box was pristine! I have never ordered a guitar through the mail before but I would not hesitate again with Sweetwater!

The Martin HD28 is a beautiful yet very simple looking instrument! Until you play it for the first time. The resonance through the body and the tone of the guitar far exceeded my expectations.

What a fantastic instrument. Perfect string tension and action. And the sound?? Simply gorgeous. It does really well going between fingerstyle and picking. Just a great feel. I had a very high expectations and they were easily met. I would buy it again in second. Worth the wait and I'm glad I held out for this sucker. Great assistance from the Sweetwater staff as usual. Guitar is nothing short of incredible. Plays, sounds, and looks great. Sweetwater customer service is second to none. You cannot go wrong here.

when you make a large purchase like this Sweetwater takes extra care in detail that your a happy customer. Youll see it when you get it.

The only thing i recommend is once you get this guitar ditch the strings that are on it immediately. From leaving the factory to the warehouse and all the climate change the strings will feel very ruff.

Put a new set on the guitar then fall in love. I questioned my purchase because the feel just wasnt to my liking. Minute i changed those strings up to a 11...omg the tone on my guitar and sustain is un beatable.

I purchased the fishman electronics i owned a fishman amp and love that company so couldnt go wrong. I tried it in my yamaha thr10 amp and works beautiful. Your not going wrong with this purchase its just impossible.

I ordered this instrument on June 7th, while attending Gearfest 2018. It was not in stock due to the fact that the demand for this instrument is very high. Finally, it was shipped on 9-18-18,

It was definitely worth the wait! I love the straight forward way tone and volume work together. The two pickups can be adjusted to achieve many different sound combinations.

Yes, I bought this and yes I purchased it from Sweetwater. My rep Shawn was fantastic to work with. I've played a lot of of guitars and this is right at the top. Comfortable and sounds great (and keeps getting better as it opens up with time). The Fishman Aura electronics are unobtrusive which I like. I bought a Martin guitar, mostly to play unplugged, and did not want huge holes cut into it for electronics. Plugged in, it sounds like an acoustic guitar, not like most electronics which make you sound like your trying to sound like an acoustic guitar. I've played it nearly every day for 3 months and it only gets better. I wanted an heirloom guitar and this fits the bill!

I'll start out by saying I am no expert, but been playing about 40 years. I have Gibson's, Taylors, Fenders etc.. in my collection but never owned or even played a Martin. I took a chance buying online hoping the experience would be a good one. After adjusting the neck to get the fret buzz out of the guitar, it appears to have a bright tone, very much like my Taylor 314ce. This was a surprise to me as I thought it would sound more like my Gibson custom J-45. Strumming is loud and bright, finger style is more pleasing to my ear. Strumming harder, the guitar gets very "tinny" sounding. It has nice resonance, but lacks bass to a degree, unusual for a dreadnought. Perhaps it just needs several years before it develops its real tone, or maybe this is just how a Martin sounds not sure. Good experience with Sweetwater and the sales engineer was very helpful. I would not hesitate to buy another from Sweetwater.

First section of binding along the rear bottom of the body fell off in year 3. Now the binding on the front bottom of the body is falling off. Ridiculous for an instrument at this price point.

I have a Cole Clark that outshines the electronics in this Martin guitar by far. This Martin akes a 9 volt battery, but after it uses 2.24 volts you have to change the battery leaving 6.76 volts unable to be used. If you buy this guitar, make sure you have a truckload of 9 volt batteries handy.

Terribly disappointed in this guitar. I also own a Cole Clark acoustic. The electronics in the Cole Clark is far superior to the electronics in this Martin. Now I have the electronics in this Martin guitar eating 9 volt batteries at the rate of having to replace one everyday. I wish I hadn't wasted my money on this thing.
