Hartke HD150 1x15" 150-watt Bass Combo Amp Reviews

1x15" 150W Bass Combo with HyDrive Paper/Aluminum Speaker and 1" Tweeter

Hartke proves that great tone doesn't need to cost a ton with the Hartke HD150 bass combo amp. Pushing 150 watts of power through a single 15" speaker and 1" tweeter, the HD150 is perfect for any rehearsal space or gig. When you're gigging out and about, durability is a must, and the HD150 will easily withstand being lugged from gig to gig. The Hartke HD150 bass combo amp is a great choice when you don't need a ton of power, but you also don't want to sacrifice tone.

Great Value for an Excellent Combo!

By Sweetwater Customer from NY on July 19, 2022 Music Background: 40 yrs as a Semi-Pro

I've been gigging with a HD150 for a few years now in a trio format. I use a HD75 for smaller venues.
This amp is solid - sounds great - EQ is very good. If you can get past the weight it's a bargain.
I had to replace the casters after (2) years.vThey simply wore out. The amp hasn't!

Amazing sound

By Steve Schuster from Fishers, IN on December 1, 2021

Bought this after trying one at a gig. Love the sound and the punch! The 7-band eq with 2.5k and 5k sliders allow the bright harmonics to shine through. Scooping your tone couldn't be easier (or cleaner!). Can't say enough about it!

Great sound, As expected

By R. Horton from Spring Hill Fl on May 27, 2020 Music Background: Guitar and bass player (Mostly) for many years. I started in My early teens and payed professionally through my mid 20’s. Have a little more time now and just trying to get back to playing more (20 yrs later).

Although I've only had the Hartke HD 150 for a short time. It's been over a decade since I last played using a Hartke set up, I remember it being a solid bass amp. I'm glad I made the purchase, did not disappoint. It's perfect for practice and probably smaller gigs. Highly recommend based on performance and cost.

Amp sound coming out of main speakers instead of subwoofesr

By Matt on April 14, 2019

This amp is awesome by all means ever since our band upgraded from a very old behringer amp. But a new problem arose with this upgrade. When we tried to wire it in our mixer (allen & heath ZED) the sound comes out of the main speakers instead of the subwoofers and by god does it sound bad. With the exact same set up with our old and i mean old amp everything was fine and sounded nice. Couldn't find any support for this online sorry I had to write it in the reviews. 5/5 this amp is really good by the way awesome versatility in tone and loudness is top notch for a small band like ours

Great Amp

By Eric M. Gendell on August 15, 2018

Although I am by no means "Blown Away", I feel completely confident that the Hartke 150 was the best amp I could afford and unless I am proven wrong, the best amp on the market for the price.
I originally bought a Fender Rumble 100 which was a decent amp with some serious flaws. I decided to return it and buy the Hartke because so many of the best Bass players I have seen played through Hartke's which speaks volumes.
The Hartke is definitely well worth the $... price difference because the features are decidedly superior. Compared to the... Fender Rumble 100, for...more the Hartke delivers 50 more watts of power, a 15" woofer and a tweeter, compared to the Rumble's 12" speaker, a built-in EQ and metal mesh protecting the speakers. While the Hartke weighs more than twice the rumble, the build is correspondingly more solid.
There are high-quality handles built into the side of the cabinet which comes with heavy-duty casters that fit perfectly. I like the fact that there are no bells and whistles, that the Hartke is a straight-forward workhorse that sounds really good without any effects pedals or processors.
The only real complaint I have about this otherwise superb amp, is that there is no 1/4" jack for an extension cabinet. Although this is not a complaint, but more of a suggestion, I also wish the HD 150 had an old-school spring reverb to compensate for the flatness, lacking depth of acoustic headspace common to all bare-bones amps, regardless of solid state, tube or combination.

Clean bass sound

By rickyg from HI on November 17, 2016 Music Background: working

Great sounding bass amp... Very clean and love the graphic EQ to get my sound and the balanced DI for bass expansion... I've only used it at low volume and it sounds warm and punchy with clear highs... and I've only just begun.. love the light weight and casters for convenient mobility...

Lots of punch!

By Terry Angelli from Malden, MA on May 5, 2016 Music Background: Playing for almost 50 years.

I started out playing bass many, many years ago and then switched to 6 string. The amps available back in the day weren't very good unless you could afford an Ampeg or Fender Bassman. As time went on I still played bass occasionally but did not own any gear. A recent opportunity presented itself for me to play in an ensemble on bass so I borrowed both amp and guitar. After the gig an offer was made to make me the bass player gigging about 3 times a month. Iaccepted and jumped onto Sweetwater and found this amp. The reviews were great and so were the ones I'd found on other sites. So I took the plunge and ordered this amp. I received it yesterday and I must say for the $ this amp packs a lot of features and lots of punch! It's perfect for the gigs I'll be doing (250 - 300 seat clubs) and with the XLR line out I can plug into a PA for larger gigs. I am totally satisfied with this amp and can highly recommend it!

Awesome Amp!

By Robert DeMahy from Baldwin, LA on February 26, 2016 Music Background: Bass player. Hard Rock & Heavy Metal.

This amp will blow you away! I upgraded from an Ampeg BA108 (first gen) and this amp Smokes it in power (obviously) but also in tone! It's 15" Hydrive speaker really does give you the warmth of a paper cone speaker but the snap and punch you can only get from an aluminium cone speaker. I have it set on 1 and adjust the volume with my bass (Schecter Omen Extreme 4 active bass) because its so loud even on 1 that is shakes the pictures on the walls!
From now on I am a firm believer in Hartke Amplification!

Hartke HD150 Great Sound

By Gary R from Columbiana, OH on October 3, 2015

I purchased this amp as a practice amp for my bass player. This amp has a great sound. Well constructed with nice features. Love the Wheels. Jason took care of my order and I received it promptly. He even called afterwards to made sure I got the amp and all was well. Love the 2 yr warranty offered by Sweetwater. What other company does this? With this added benefit along with great customer service, Sweetwater will be the first place i look when purchasing in the future.

Great practice amp

By Sweetwater Customer on December 18, 2015

Awesome practice amp!!!!!!! Sounds great!!!!! Has line out capabilities that can get you out of jam if you're stage gear is down!!! I also like the fact that you can practice at home without bothering anyone by using the headphones!!!!! Or just simply jam with your favorite songs! Good bang for the buck!!!!!

great amp!

By Sweetwater Customer on November 15, 2015

I use this amp for praise band at church and it does the job nicely. It packs quite a punch and I can easily transport it.

Flub Machine

By Daniel Klassen from Virginia on February 27, 2017

Great I guess if you want an oversized practice amp. For a bass amp, this thing does not handle bass well at all. If you're looking for something to play with up against the band, look elsewhere.
