Goliath is big
Top quality bread and butter samples. This package is like buying a Yamaha, Roland or Korg rompler for your computer. Good all around list of instruments. The only negative is no keyswitching in this package. You will also need a ilok key.
excellent sounds
almost 40g of content
guitar sounds are excellent (and I'm a guitarist)
orchestral sounds are lacking
but overall: good bang for the buck
East West Goliath
Most of the sounds are very nice and very useable. A few are poorly recoded and a little noisy. All in all a very nice product!
Goliath
First Ill start with saying Goliath is pretty damn good. The quality of the instruments are top notch. They say Goliath was made to replace the keyboard. Well thats where I have to take issue with it. Although Goliath is a great sounding product, I think it lacks in quantity. Theres not alot of Synth patches. There could be some more Brass,Bass and Guitar options ( thats just my opinion). Also on some patches I get clicks when trying to play the notes together ( others are having the exact same issues). East West says its something they have to look into. On the flip side, you get some of the best sounding instruments in the game for a decent price. So if you have a keyboard dont through it away just yet because it more then likely has more options on it. But one things for sure you wont be reaching for it for a long time.
Not worth the money
There are a handful of decent sounds on this collection, but there is also a lot of dead wood. There are far better synths (and some are free) for making pads and lead sounds, and most of the patches sound dated, and not in a good way. Some of the orchestral sounds are good, as are the guitars and basses. I was afraid that this collection was too old to be relevant, and I specifically asked my rep that question, but he convinced me otherwise.
I guess I'll chalk it up the somewhat wasted $400 to experience...
