Great value bulk cable

By Sweetwater Customer

First the review: it's the best bang for your buck. Both my kids are learning electric guitar and bass, they want their own amps and pedals and buying ready made cables off the shelf for all of that would cost a fortune. Enter Mogami bulk cable. For the price of a single off the shelf ready made guitar cable I ordered 25' of bulk cable and connectors, cut it down and made individual cables. They sound great and they look and feel heavy duty! I will definitely be buying more Mogami bulk cable!

Now for a side note: before you assemble/solder the cables to your connector make sure you cut back the black pvc sheathing from the inner wire as it is conductive and can ground your positive signal. This is the first time I'm making my own guitar cables and didn't do my due diligence beforehand and had a weak signal with my new cables. I've included a picture for reference. Having learned of my error and corrected it these are fantastic cables!

Mogami 2524 Instrument Wire

By Jim K. from Ohio
Music Background: Non professional. Just play for my own enjoyment

I purchased a 10 ft cord elsewhere, but came upon the answer to the question I had at this site. I have been made aware of the differences between instrument cable and speaker cable with quarter inch jacks. I have an OX "amp top box" which requires speaker cable for the attenuation function and instrument cable for the digital amp modeling function. I find it odd, given the importance of that distinction and the ease with which the cable could be marked, that it is not, ,as far as I could tell. A single word, where the other information is printed, ould save a lot of aggravation. I know it was probably on the packaging and my fault that I forgot, but it has been awhile. Also, i know that those experinced in its use will recognize it right away. But that is who labels are usually for. Those of us to whom something is not immediately self-evident. Don't mean to make more of it than it's worth. Just a little irritated at the having to stop what I was working on to figure this out.

Wow!

By Kim K. from Texas
Music Background: Guitar Enthusiast

I didn't think there was that much difference in cable quality, until I ordered this cable! I just replaced some older patch cables I had been using for years, with new patch cables I made myself with this cable & Switchcraft plugs. Huge difference! Less (zero?) noise and much clearer, cleaner sound quality. You can buy Mogami patch cables, but they are not cheap. This was a good balance of price and quality. Plus I made each cable so I know who to blame if there is a problem. Do yourself a favor and get this cable! It's easy to strip, easy to solder and very well made. If you ever get the chance to compare this cable with some of the no-name, internet cable, you will be blown away at the quality difference. Big thanks to Sweetwater Sales Engineer Tyler Moore as well!

Full Frequency Range Clarity.

By G J. from Ohio

Other higher end brands seem light in the bass. This is 20 gauge signal wire. I also use 2524 for my pedal board. I know it's thicker than pedal patch wire but what's the point of using it from your guitar to the board if your signal is choked through skinny wires between the pedals, regardless of the wire brand. I am suggesting that whatever wire one chooses should be exactly the same throughout the signal chain if possible. Also, make sure you cut back the under copper black sheathing per Mogami's instructions before you solder. Really important. Have fun with your build. Thank you Anthony Longano and Sweetwater for your great customer service and follow-up.

Used this for RCA interconnects and it is amazingly clean and opened up the midrange and highs wonderfully without sacrificing bass
