Gator Frameworks Round-top Drum Throne
Gator Frameworks Round-top Drum Throne Reviews
This Gator round-top drum throne has everything Sweetwater drummers look for in such an accessory. Its foam-padded seat cushion and double-braced legs ensure support and comfort, enabling you to perform and rehearse for longer. A spindle-locking mechanism makes height adjustments fast and easy throughout its 18.5- to 24-inch range. Finally, when it’s time to tear down, a collapsible base and low weight of just under eight pounds make that a cinch. Top it all off with Gator quality, and you have a drum throne that ticks all the boxes.
New for
Well-made Ill-designed
While the materials appear to be excellent (expect nothing less from Gator), the design is horrible. It cannot work. The spindle mechanism is flawed conceptually. It cannot work in practice. No matter how much you tighten the wing nuts, as soon as you sit on it, it loosens due to the weight of your body, which the friction of the nuts are not able to withstand (and I'm a skinny dude).
That said, Sweetwater customer service was great (as usual), actually, went above and beyond to remedy the situation for me.
I highly highly recommend something cheaper with a simple bolt design.
Not very comfortable
If you are an adult male, this seat is not very comfortable after playing for more than 30 minutes
Poor
Gator stuff is usually really good. That's why I was glad this came with my drum set. It's got a great seat, but it keeps coming loose and wobbles no matter how much you tighten it up. It's just a real nuisance to have to tighten it two times a week. There's no reflection on Sweetwater.
Feels quite flimsy when made tall
It wobbles a lot, even when I fasten each stage completely. I have it set up almost at the highest level, but I'm of average or below-average weight, and I do not play aggressively or transport it in a rough manner. It has still made it through 6 months of use though.
This is a flawed product
This broke within 45 minutes of use.
I am a normal-sized human being. I play drums in a normal way.
There is a major design/manufacturing flaw in this item - it has an unbelievably weak post weld.
Luckily I noticed the loose seat before I tipped over backward and impaled myself on the jagged edge of the stool post.
See photo.
My advice: do not purchase.
