Works perfectly - used it at a gig last night...
Almost did not buy this based on one of the reviews... XLR to 1/4" TRS - used this to connect from board to my powered monitors using XLR mic cables - worked perfectly! Metal casing and well built for gigging. Not sure how others were using this, but for my live music application, worked as advertised. Solid little adapter - in my gig bag, will use it until I lose it - then will buy it again...
Hosa, who you gonna call?
I have a pair of the Hosa TRS 1/4" male to XLR female and a pair of the TRS 1/4 to female XLR. I've had them for about 6 years no problems. I use them (mainly) attached to XLR mic cables going into/out of my balanced patch bay or to run balanced line level devices (preamps or comps) into my recording interface. They're pretty simple adapters, bullet proof, and very necessary items to have on hand sometimes.
Does the job
It does the job with no problems so far. I always keep a few of these on hand in both the XLR Male and XLR Female versions.
Nothing Holding It Together
I thought that Hosa made decent stuff. Aparently not. XLR shell is threaded to accept a threaded 1/4" TRS body but the TRS body was not designed with threads and is just weakly pressed in. The weight of the cable makes it fall apart. I'm returning it.
Awful build quality
First time I used it the 1/4 jack came out of the body of the adapter. The body is threaded but the 1/4 plug is not.
