Gator Journeyman Deluxe Wood Case - Mandolin
Gator Journeyman Deluxe Wood Case - Mandolin Reviews
Don't trust just any mandolin case, the Gator Journeyman Deluxe wood case is rugged with a vintage flare that's made to protect your mandolin. The Gator Journeyman Deluxe even looks like a 40-year-old case with its special beige-colored burlap finish and distinctive espresso-colored trim. But looks can be deceiving - since the Journeyman Deluxe's design is based on traditional mandolin case construction it can handle the rigors of the road. As you know, "nothing is tougher than a Gator!" Grab a Gator Journeyman Deluxe hardshell case and know your mandolin is protected.
Time will tell
I purchased this case for an Ibanez M510E mandolin. It does the job, but the fit and finish are certainly not high end and the construction seems a little flimsy. The case is pretty tight and takes some care to close the clasps. Time will tell if it holds up and I hope that the mandolin will settle in the case more comfortably as time moves ahead. Otherwise, I am certain that the mandolin is protected. That is the goal.....
Excellent protection with a classic style
The Gator Journeyman Deluxe Wood Case for Mandolin is a standout option if you want a case that combines durability, aesthetics, and dependable protection. The first thing you notice is the vintage-inspired design—textured exterior, reinforced stitching, and antique-style hardware. It has a classy, traditional look that makes it feel more like a handcrafted piece than a standard instrument case.
Gator Journeyman mandolin case
I recently purchased this case for a Gibson f5. I am very pleased with the result.
Gator Deluxe Wood Mandolin Case
I needed a new A style case for my Mandolin. No more road wear necessary. This is a good compromise between a gig bag and an SKB type. It is very sturdy, but lightweight. Call first, the people at Sweetwater will make sure you get the correct size. White may get a little dirty, but I don't care about beauty, just function. It's a perfect fit for my instrument.
Beautiful Mandolin Case
Adam Trudel has amazing knowledge and is the reason I was able to get this case. My England Mandolin fits perfectly! I love the quality construction with heavy gauge trim, buckles, and handle but the nicest surprise I was the twisted ribbon that automatically folds inward when closing the lid. Lining is also plush and gorgeous - this case is well worth the price. Thanks Adam!
Outstanding case
I bought this case recently for a 1915 Gibson A. I have the original case for this mandolin, but it's too fragile for gig use. My Gibson's a true player and I've been using a cheap foam case for it. This case has the perfect vintage look for a mandolin as old as this one. It fits snuggly and has lots of additional padding. I should've bought this case a long time ago. It's an outstanding look.
Does not fit
This case does not fit Ibanes 522 F mandolin. I like the brand. I have one for my bass. The problem is the head stock hits the cross brace. The compartment needs to shift towards the body about 1.5 inches minimum. You can see the gap at the second cross brace on the fretboard. There is plenty of room to move it, 3rd photo.
I really wish this case fit, might have to buy another Mandy?
Mandolin case
Bob Furlong is tops in his class as far as knowledge and helping his customers out. Love the case and SweetWaters help !!!!!
Great so far
Decided to grab this for my Eastman md315, fits well and doesn't slop around in there and it looks awesome. Sweet water had it to me in 2 days so as usual great all the way around.
Great Case
I am pleased with the Gator case. It is a well-built and good-looking case that should last forever.
You won't lose it, either!
Lightweight, well made and different than everyone else's at the gig, jam, or festival. When there is a pile of instrument cases left together, this one stands out. I get compliments on it everywhere I am seen with it- even from music stores. The fit is perfect for any F5, beautiful lining, feet in all the right places.
Well balanced when carrying it, and a good size accessory box with plenty of peg-head space. All the seams are clean, no glue visible, and the 'twisted' lid strap shows an attention to detail; when closing the lid, the strap folds in by itself. I love this feature!
Beautiful case
I fell in love when I opened the box. This case is beautiful. The padding is plush and it cradles my Fender Strat Ukulele (odd shape for a Uke and most cases wouldn't fit) perfectly. Zero instrument movement inside the case even with a shake.
Gator mandolin case
Great case for my Ibanez but seems a bit snug. All in all, worth the investment.
Gator Journeyman Delux Wood Case - Mandolin - Five Stars
I purchased this case along with the Washburn Mandolin, Model M3EK Pack. This particular case is the perfect fit and match for the M3EK. This case is strong, sturdy, and durable, and is very well made both inside and out. It also sports a nice old timey look that seems to fit well with the personality of the M3EK. The Washburn Model M3EK Mandolin Pack does come with a nice gig bag, but I really prefer the added protection of a hard case, not only to protect the instrument from the inevitable knocks and bumps of a musician's travel, but also to protect it from any shocking sudden or extreme changes in temperature.
Great mandolin case
Very well built case and cool looking to boot. Makes my cheapo mandolin look like something precious - highly recommended!
Good case
Nicer case than expected for price. A little tight fit for my cheezy Chinese mandolin, (possibly more a reflection of the Rogue mandolin than the case). My only complaint: the handle is attached in a manner that suggests lack of care; hope it holds up over time.
Nice Gator Case
Received this Journeyman Case today...really nice protection for my Ibanez M522 Mandolin. Great looking case that fits the bill for any style mando. Very special thanks Robert Williams for taking great case of my order and always providing that personal touch to make sure that everything's perfect!

Great general mando case!
I have a friend who makes primarily violins and cellos, but when I acquired some real, un-used Gibson mandolin fingerboards, he decided to venture out and make me a mando. He created his own design, that was primarily based off an A-style mando, but had upper and lower horns/bouts, and a hang-over on the top and back like a violin. I needed a general case that would fit it, since it wasn't really an F or an A mando.
I picked this case because the cloth covering looked cool, and the price was right. When I first got the case, it was pretty difficult to fit my mando in, but I did after some maneuvering, and then just let it sit. After a while, the interior foam and plush compressed a bit, and now my mando goes in and out with ease. Great case!
