GWB205
I've had this bass for one month. I decided to give it a go with the Gary Willis method, thus my reason for purchasing the GWB205. My ears have blossomed in a way that I never imagined. This bass is ergonomically the best fit that is better than any bass I have ever played. The midtones are are spectacular. I set up the bass as Gary Willis suggested in his youtube video demonstrating the setup of the GWB205. I checked the intonation afterwards with the Peterson Strobostomp HD Tuner Pedal and the intonation is spot on accurate from fretline 01-24, which is the entire neck. The lightweight fits comfortably on my left shoulder with the strap especially compared to heavier bass models. It weights about 8.0 lbs.
Great Tone & Effortless Playability
Whether you want to play like Gary or not, this instrument is so effortless to play…you can relax and focus on making music. The neck is slim and fast and this bass is all about ergonomics. You'll either love or hate the ramp, but I suggest giving it a try and seeing where it helps take your playing. If this is the first fretless you ever own, it's almost unfair how easy it makes it compared to other fretless basses I've tried.
Ibanez GWB205
Well done Ibanez & Gary Willis! Great playability particularly with the Willis Ramp. Gary has located that sweet-spot for placement of the Bartolini and with the 2 band EQ makes for a good range of tones. The volume pot has a tiny scratchiness but only when playing at high volumes. It's a tad neck heavy but with the strap button location, no problem. Props to Sweetwater for an outstanding buying experience; I'm always reluctant to buy without trying first but the team at Sweetwater answered all my questions and even the shipping was outstanding. Love the bass!
Nice fretless - I forgot how good an Ibanez feels
The quality is great for the price. Balance is good. I really like what they did with the tuning keys. The output could be a bit hotter compared to my other basses I have.
