Gator GTRSTD6 Guitar Case Stand, Holds 6 Guitars Reviews

Foldable Guitar Case Stand

The GTRSTD6 Guitar Case Stand from Gator is a really cool guitar rack that folds into a case. This rack-stand holds up to six guitars and features elastic bands for securing each guitar in place. Made from sturdy birch wood, this rack-stand also has a plush interior and grey-carpeted exterior that prevents damage to your prized instruments — a feature we love here at Sweetwater. There are also commercial grade Penn-Elcom twist latches, feet on the bottom to reduce wear, and a comfortable carry handle.

Good, but beware of dye transfer.

By James A. from COLUMBIA, MO

Decent build quality. Overall happy with it but I found that it transferred some black color onto the neck and binding of my TV Yellow Gibson LP Special. The discoloration on the neck and binding seems to be there permanantly now. I didn't notice this on a couple other Gibson LPs I had left in it for longer periods of time.

Great product/caster hack

By S.F.

The stands are sturdy and high quality. By adding 3-inch urethane locking casters I was able to create the perfect solution for moving my collection in and out of my secure space. Now I have everything within reach when playing and recording, while being able to quickly and safely store it when away when not in use.

You need a rack for your pointy guitars? Right here!

By Randell M. from Texas
Music Background: Metal

I switched from another brand of multi guitar rack to the Gator originally for my need a rack that held my pointy guitars. This rack works excellent for that, plus you get a top quality Gator product. I've got Explorers, V's, Jackson RR, Kelly's, Warriors, and others. They all fit in this rack. Problem solved.

Nice concept, shoddy construction

By Paul
Music Background: Pro

Had it less than a year and the whole thing fell apart. It's held together by little pieces of wire instead screws. I'm very careful with my gear but this thing fell apart just by being moved around the way it was meant to be moved around. If you buy it, just plan on reinforcing it with screws.

The best

By Michael from Cincinnati, OH

I tried several others, thinking this one was too expensive. They ALL fell apart or at least starting breaking after several months. I've had Gator GTRSTD6 in service for three years now with zero problems.

Plus, it sets up quicker and is much more solid than the others. My guitars feel safe, and that's the main thing.

A very solid, well made guitar stand that looks great. Its really worth it.

By Glenn

They are some guitar stands where you just have a flat rubber support beam on the bottom and some U shaped holders on top for the necks of the guitars. I don't like them as the guitars are too close together and the protection is minimal. The Gator is very solid, it holds the guitars in place really well, there is a cover on top that helps reduce dust on the guitars, and it looks very professional. You will have a WOW look when people come into the room and see it. Yes it cost more than the competition but its a one time purchase that you will enjoy for so many years. There is nothing I don't like about it. It weighs more than some of the cheap ones, but this helps keep the guitars in place. It does not make a difference if you just put 2 or 3 in for now. The Gator won't move, and it will keep the guitars in place. I highly recommend it.

Worth The Investment

By Sweetwater Customer

Worth the investment if you're looking for a solid stand to use in the studio or on the road. Very impressed with the build quality and materials used to keep the guitars secure. Plenty of room between the guitars and incredibly easy to set up!

Does the job for sure

By Jeremy

I could see they addressed the issues in previous reviews immediately. The case arrived with no assembly required and screws are where nails had been previously. The elastics that secure the guitars are my only concern. But I'm sure they can be replaced if needed. They are an easy way to lock it down. I bought this to better protect my guitars from my evil cats but still have easy, grab and play access to my guitars. Mission accomplished I believe. Only regret maybe is not seeing the tweed Fender one first but this functions and looks good. Also, it doesn't take up much space and would be easy pack up and go. I'm happy and would recommend this case.

Great guitar holding case

By Andrew C. from OR
Music Background: Founder and band leader of The Russian Bots.

Got this case to hold my 6 guitars. Was a little worried when I read some reviews about quality but have found that the company has addressed all comments and have fixed the issues people had complained about in their reviews. The case has plenty of space for 6 guitars with straps and they don't hit one another or move around. Great case and well worth the money to not have six guitars sitting around my house on stands. Spaces savings YEAH.

Good quality for the price

By Sweetwater Customer

Similar to Greg's review from February 2019 ("Poor Quality"), I was also looking for a cheaper alternative that looked studio or tour quality without paying thousands. I was really impressed with how easy this was to put together. I believe I know of the area the aforementioned review references and I do not see nails anywhere on the stand, only screws. I have found the stand to be sturdy (in use for about 2 months now) and it was not flimsy when putting it together nor is it flimsy now when in use.

The feature I personally like the most is that you can stand the guitars upright--many stands that allow for multiple guitars to be held require the guitars be stood up at an angle and they inevitably take up more space because of it. This stand actually takes up less space than similarly sized stands because of this. The advertised footprint (save for the length of the necks that go above the stand, of course) is the exact footprint that the stand takes up.

Poor Design

By Greg
Music Background: Musician 25+ years

I must preface this with I repaired the problem myself I give it 5 stars after I did the fix. I was really looking forward to a lower cost alternative to a the Ultracase design guitar stand for touring and studio/home use for multiple guitars. I thought this is it. Same design and durability and save a $... Well sometimes you get what you pay for and even worse.

When I opened the package both arms that fold in and out to make the upright support were peeled away from the inner case wall floating around inside, with no surprise after seeing how they were attached. Just 3 flimsy nailgun nails held them to the sides of the edge. Leverage was just too great for any aggressive movement and jarring. Very disappointing. This design really needs screws. Well that is all it took was 3 screws into each side and easy repair.

Anyways. I let Gator know of their poor design. I don't know if I would buy one unless you are ready to fix it now or in a month or two. Gator needs to make sure it is repaired prior to buying one if you don't want to fix it yourself or sending it right back for the same repeat headache.

I just can't believe that the QA let this thing out of the building with the issue this might lend. I guess they didn't expect fedex or UPS to drop the box.
