Gator GTR-PWR-8 Pedalboard Power Supply Reviews

Pedalboard Power Supply, with 8 Isolated Outputs, 8 DC Power Cables, 1 AC Power Cable, 1 Voltage Doubler, 1 Mini Jack Cable, and 1 Polarity Inverter Cable

With eight DC-isolated power outputs, the Gator GTR-PWR-8 is a smart solution for providing reliable, low-noise power to your effects pedalboard. The first two outlets offer a Sag control to adjust the voltage between 4V and 9V, perfect for starving fuzz pedals for creative effect. You’ll also find four more 9V/12V DC outputs, one 9V/18V DC output, and a 12V AC output — a comprehensive offering for any combination of analog and digital effects pedals. Its rugged metal enclosure is vented for superior heat dissipation, and integrated mounting slots allow for direct mounting to your pedalboard. If you’re running a mid-sized pedalboard and are searching for a better power solution, Sweetwater can highly recommend the Gator GTR-PWR-8 pedalboard power supply.

Good but too big

By UnkleZeek from VA
Music Background: Guitarist, producer/engineer, bassist, drummer...musician for 33yrs of my 50yrs.

I purchased this & while it does work amazingly good but 2 things really have become a big issue...first is the overall size of this unit, the height is ridiculously to tall/thick for any board & it is so heavy that standard velcro would not hold it to my board so I had to purchasethe dual lock to keep it from coming apart from my board...I have a Mono Rail 32x16 & it barely has room without dragging the ground...my bassistbought one for his 32x16 Pedaltrain & it does the same. Second issue is the 12v AC out, it says 8 outs but technically you only get 7 cuz you there is no voltage adjustment switch to change to 9v or 18v & by chance you have an antique pedal or any pedal running a 12v ac you cant use the 7th output while using the 12v ac out so its basically has only 7 outputs & thats really annoying...just should've put a switch so we could choose but oh well. I dont hate this unit but it could've been done better.

Awesome pedal power supply

By Mariel C. from Yarmouth port, MA
Music Background: Pro musician

I love this power supply, I like how you can adjust the power the pedals receive. The kicker for me is the 3 prong amp style plug, this makes the Gator power supply the best I've owned, that simple.

Solidly Built & Reliable PS w/Ample Accessory Cables

By KGB from Long Island

This has been a reliable power source and is quite solidly built and looks nice. I bought two of these; with about two years between each purchase so that says something. One is permanently affixed to my guitar pedal board and the other is mounted in my studio for use with my synth effects-pedals. The inclusion of reverse polarity and voltage doubling cables are a plus. Very easy to mount without needing velcro due to the thru-holes along housing perimeter. Which is good because I hate velcro. Velcro on pedal boards is just madness and has to stop.

Good deal

By Sweetwater Customer

Good deal, lots of options to switch between 9-18v. The only problem I have is that thee highest rated plug is 250mah, which is fine for most things, but if your gonna get a big box pedal like a Strymon that won't cut it. It's quiet. Power switch located in an easy location, enough cables to do whatever you need.

Good Price

By Paul from TLH

This is my first power supply for my first board. The two outlets on the right allow the voltage to be varied, from 4-9V, the next three outlets can each be set for 9 or 12 V. The sixth outlet is 18V, and the seventh and eight outlets are for 12V each (one for DC and one for AC). Although this is described as having 8 outlets, only 7 are effectively available (the box advises not to use the right-most 12VDC and 12 VAC at the same time). I tested the output voltage on each, and they all seemed nominally correct, with center negative polarities. Gator provides a generous selection of power cables, including a polarity reverser, but unfortunately, the voltage doubler cabler that came with my unit was faulty, and would only yield 12V when connected to two 12V outlets. The customer service at Gator was unable to provide timely assistance, and there is no manual on-line or otherwise, so if you are new to this like me, you may have to come up with your own solutions (a Voodoo Labs doubler that I purchased separately produced the desired 24V). I do like that the outlets are isolated, and of the units that have this feature, this seemed an inexpensive one.
