Great Quality Bag for a Reasonable Price

By Chris W. from White Hall
Music Background: Worship Leader

I bought this from Sweetwater for a recent purchase of a used Harmony Jupiter Thinline. It looks really nice and it fits the guitar perfectly. Everything looks very sturdy including the zippers. Nicely padded inside. The only thing I would change is the hook type closure on the main front storage pocket. I would prefer something different. Overall I would purchase this again.

Just what I needed

By Todd M. from Spring Green, WI
Music Background: Playing live off and on since 1973. Primarily acoustic and electric guitar.

I've bought a lot of guitars and a lot of cases. I wanted something more than a dust blocker and less than a heavy hard case made for travel. This transit is the perfect blend. From top to bottom and all the way around there's plenty of protection, including the neck. Three pockets for everything from small bits to sheet music, rubber reinforcement on the bottom and an overall sense of sturdiness.

This fits my PRS Swamp Ash Special snugly without having to force it in the case at all. This top-of-the-line instrument came in its own PRS softshell case, but the case fit almost too tightly. I flattened the headstock padding and popped in my PRS SE Custom 24-08 which was much better than the SE case that came with the guitar.

It's a win-win.

Wow. Bang for the buck

By Brian P. from Tonawanda, NY

I have a few guitars, mostly singlecut PRS, LP junior, and a couple teleies. All of them fit nicely in this well made case. A plush lining with nice adjustable neck support and ample storage pockets. A lot nicer then cases that have cost me more. I think I'll get another. Try one. You'll love it.

Perfect gig bag

By Sean P. from AMITE, LA

I did a bit of research before finding this bag. I ended up missing getting it on sale price but my sales engineer Troy Davis really helped me out and was able to get me a perfect condition demo model at a discount. I've had it for a few weeks now and it's been great taking my new Squire strat around in it. Would definitely reccomend

Absolutely amazing!

By Sweetwater Customer

Where do I even start? This gig bag is just absolutely beautiful and versatile. The red inside in comparison to the black cover is just chefs kiss. It has very versatile carrying methods too! The inner padding is also adjustable and removable. Just waiting on my gear at this point to put into this beautiful case! Dude,if you're thinking of getting it, just get it!

They got it to me relatively quickly and with no hassle and in perfect condition.

Awesome bag!

By Joe B. from SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MI

I ordered this bag to protect an Ibanez Mikro Bass. It fits both the 4 and 5 string versions of this bass like a glove! Nicely padded and supported, 3 different ways to carry the guitar (back straps, side handle, or back handle), nice pockets for extras. This bag is much more protective than most gig bags. Not as ridged as a case, but the padding is pretty firm, and it's more lightweight than any case I've seen. Perfect for my needs. It's a steal at the current sale price. Thanks, Ryan Murray and your team!

Headstock area is narrow. Great bag for 6 inline like Fender. Too narrow for Gibson headstocks or 3x3 headstocks.

Solid carrying case

By J

A little more expensive than a typical gig bag but offers significantly more protection. Almost like a hardcase with a neck support. Zippers are high quality and has backpack-style straps that tuck away. Fits an SG really nice and includes extra padding at the headstock and base/body to get a snug fit for other shapes.

Super Nice Gig Bag.

By Gerald R. from Las Vegas, NV

This gig bag is awesome and a great price. Very well padded, even comes with extra pieces that velcro in to make your guitar fit snug. Nice neck rest pad as well. I like how the backpack straps tuck away in a pocket so they are not in the way when you just want to carry it like a case, but it's nice they are there if you need them. Plenty of storage pockets too, you won't run out of space to store essentials. I am very pleased with this purchase, would definitely buy this again if I need another gig bag.

Nice padded case

By John D. from Wilmington,De

Thanks to Joey M for the recommend and fast service to get this bag.. It's very protective and served me well on a recent trip to NY where I played in a studio for a great part of the day and schlepped my SG to a show.. Very protective and nicely weather resistant- I found this out in a sudden pop up storm leaving a club... Great bag!

I prefer it to the PRS Gig Bag

By Jack from Outside of Madison, WI.

I recently purchased a PRS CE 24 and found the included gig bag lacking in substantive protection. I checked out hard cases, but thought they were really more protection than I needed and they were considerably more expensive. If I did any serious traveling with my PRS I would purchase a hard case. After discussion with Sweetwater Tech Advisor Brian Kerns, I opted for this gator bag. It was the right choice for me, having more protective rigidity and cushioning than the PRS bag and finer aesthetics. The shoulder straps for carrying the instrument on your back tuck away in the gator bag and the case just looks cool. I found the fit for the PRS CE 24 just fine. I'm old school and think a hard case should be part of the pricing for a fine guitar, but it's Paul Reed Smith's business, not mine. The bag with the red liner is the gator, as are the last two images showing the shoulder straps tucked away in an outside pocket and an image of one of the several tie downs, likely for securing the bag when transporting in a vehicle.

Gator Gig Bag

Compared to Gator Icon and Mono Vertigo.

By Kenny from Nampa, ID
Music Background: Guitarist for 30 years

I have always been a hard case guy. I decided recently that it would be nice to get a premium gig bag because of the lighter weight, extra storage, and backpack straps. I ordered the Gator Transit and the Gator Icon to compare with my friend's Mono Vertigo. To be honest, since this case is primarily carrying around my main guitar, which is a Custom Shop Strat, the price of the case is not of much concern to me. With that said, the Transit, at roughly half the price of the others, is my favorite.

Here are a few reasons why:

1. Fit. It fits the guitar very snugly with both of the optional pads installed. The Icon case has only one optional pad on the bottom, and nothing on the top. With that installed, there is still plenty of room for the guitar to move around up and down, and less but still some room fir side to side movement. For reference, the case seems big enough to hold a baritone guitar in length, and a 335 style in width, so putting a Strat in there leaves plenty of room for movement. The Mono fit more snugly in terms of body width, but about the same in terms of height, easily being long enough to hold a baritone guitar, or possibly even a short scale bass.

2. Storage. For me, the Transit is perfect in this area. There are two smallish pockets available on the outside, and one large zipper pocket with a flap that buckles down. This gives plenty of storage for my purposes. For reference, the big pocket is big enough to hold my Macbook Air, so an iPad would easily fit. The Mono has one large pocket with a smaller zipper pocket inside of it, which is fine in terms of total storage area, but its nice having some pockets on the outside available on the Gators. The Icon has storage galore, which is certainly not a bad thing, but for my uses, I would never fill up even half of the available storage on it. Not a problem, just not necessary for me.

3. Size vs Protection. They're all good in terms of portability, and they will all protect any guitar reasonably well, but this one comes down to a balance for me. In terms of protection, there are a few ways that damage could occur. One would be the guitar itself shifting around in the case. Although they're all nice and softly lined interiors, less shifting around is better, and for a Strat the Transit is the best case in terms of fitment, easily. In terms of protection from falls or drops, the Transit is close to the Mono, but probably slightly less protective, and they're both less protective in that way than the Icon. Here's the thing though, for me, I would use all of these cases in the same way. What I mean is, even though you could check the Icon case if you were flying, I wouldn't, because I have a very valuable guitar. I would just make sure that I got good enough boarding on my flight that I could carry on my guitar. Even though you could possibly be a little rougher with the guitar in the Mono bag because of the big boot on the bottom, I wouldn't, because I value what's inside of it. Again, price wasn't the determining factor for me in buying this case, I just wanted the one that would work the best for me. The Transit is exactly as protective as it's trying to be; carry it around, set it down, if it gets bumped around or falls over, no big deal. Same for the Mono really, the Icon you could rough up more I guess, I just wouldn't.

All in all, there's nothing not to like about the Transit bag. It is light and easy to carry, and it's protective enough to carry around anywhere and to absorb bumps and falls from being leaned up against a wall without a sweat. It fits standard sized electric guitars really snugly, it has enough storage, and it's compact enough to easily fit anywhere the guitar itself would fit. I can't speak to it's long term durability, but Gator has a lifetime warranty on it, and it seems well built. 5 stars from me for sure!

Fits like a glove and protects my baby.

By Gerry P. from Sacramento Ca

Well it fits my Sterling Valentine Guitar great. If your looking to protect your guitar and use to trans port to local gigs. This is the best. It is not as tough as a hard case. But for home and local gigs. It is very good. I think Gator Bags and Cases are the best. I put all my Babys in Gators.

Form, Fit and Function

By Will G. from CT
Music Background: Guitar Player

Fantastic bag, versatile enough to fit all of my electrics and soft enough of an interior for a PRS core guitar.
I've already had it out on a run to the car in a pouring rain and the water beaded up and rolled off. Also, this bag is lite and great looking. A big shout out to the wonderful Reps. at S.W. because I almost choose the wrong bag for my needs. Top quality at a great price = value, can't go wrong with a Gator.

Handy gig bag

By John from Michigan
Music Background: Gigs and gatherings

I use this to take my telecaster to gigs. It is easier to use than the hard case, and the straps allow back carry that frees up your hand for another item. It is well padded and the guitar fits securely. The interior should adjust well for other electrics. Great case!

Great bag, poor zipper pull

By Andrew B. from Bend, OR

I haven't had it long but one of the zipper pull shave already broken off after the second or third time I've used the bag, replacing the zipper pull, turns out its the same ones you can get a pack of 20 for less then 5 bucks, so, I might of gotten a bad egg zipper pull, or not and I now have 40 to 60 zipper pull uses before I need to buy more haha, just kidding no,

even with the zipper pull breaking, not the zipper it self, breaking, the over all build of this bag has been rather nice, no real complaints, guitar feels safe inside, the front pouch feels like it'll hold things nicely, I don't think the hook latch will fall off or anything, all and all, feels like it'll last.

Will update review if anything further breaks, for now I do recommend this bag to anyone.

Exceeded My Expectations!

By Quentin H.

I was worried getting a gig bag over a hard case. I wanted durable protection but I also wanted a bit more ease of portability. This gig bag is the perfect balance of both! Aesthetically pleasing and is definitely made out quality materials. I purchased this bag knowing it was a little limited on pouch and accessory space, but it fits my need very well.
Holds my capo, picks, 10 foot cable, and strap and that's all I need and is light and comfortable. Thank you, Candace Irizarry, for recommending this gig bag and helping me with my overall order!

Great Gig Bag for All of My Solid Body Guitars

By Braden from Colorado
Music Background: Amateur wannabe rocker

This is a great gig bag. I have had it for about 2-3 years with regular use and sometimes less care than should be taken. No issues so far except for one broken zipper pull (I probably tug too hard).

Although I read reviews stating otherwise, this bag WILL fit a Jazzmaster. In fact, it fits my J Mascis JM extremely well, you just have to remove the extra padding on the top and bottom. I also had to do this with the Transit Acoustic Gig Bag to fit my dreadnoughts. Fits Tele, Strat, JM, SG, and LP without a problem. Just make use of the extra padding to ensure a snug fit. Attached are photos of my JMJM in the case and also the missing zipper pull. Five stars, even with the broken zipper pull.

Real Decent Gig Bag

By Don from Pensacola, FL
Music Background: Songwriter, Musician, Guitarist, Home Recorder & Producer

Bought it originally because I thought it might fit my J Mascis Fender Squier 'Siggy' JazzMaster. It doesn't, but it works well with my Stratocaster as a most protective option versus a hard shell case. A different Gator case that I had previously bought from Sweetwater and used for one of my Stratocaster guitars, however, does accommodate the JM quite well. That one for $49 is also exceptional, but was out-of-stock when I ordered the Gator Transit version. The Transit is well thought out and an amply padded gig bag for anyone wanting a little extra protection and the flexibility of a gig bag. It tends to blur the line that often exists between hard case and gig bag 'case-like' options. In terms of Gig Bags that are close-to-a-case for protective purposes, this is about as good as it gets, imho. Yet, it will not fit the offset series of Fender Electrics such as the Mustang, Jaguar, Paranormal, and JazzMaster models. Just be aware before ordering and measure your guitar carefully, yourself, to best compare against specs on Sweetwater site. This was my own fault and not an error on the part of Sweetwater. Regardless, I'm very pleased with the two Gator cases that I bought from them. They were each shipped quickly and arrived in perfect condition, as always.

Excellent Bag!

By Brian from Wilsonville, Oregon
Music Background: Bass Player for 34 years, Guitar player for a few years now. I enjoy recording my own compositions, and constantly learning new things!

I bought this to hold an Ibanez S series guitar my wife surprised me with for Christmas. This Gigbag holds the guitar firmly and doesn't let the body handoff the neck like hardshell cases were doing. Being a thin body guitar was making the body not contact the case. This gig bag by Gator though holds it firmly like I said and it has a great deal of protection against damage. I am totally in love with this one! Dare I say it's better than others I have purchased costing twice as much! The zippers are all robust and you can tell the quality and thought that went into these. From now on I will be only purchasing Gator cases and Gigbags. They have a loyal customer now! Thanks also to Sweetwater for their quick delivery and excellent customer service! Andy Rice always takes care of my needs (and my wife's when she wants to spoil me!!!)

Quality Case from a Solid Brand

By Adam K. from Kokomo, IN
Music Background: Guitar Player/Weekend Warrior for 17 years.

I have a vintage guitar that I was having trouble finding a case that could fit it. The guitar has more depth than the majority of modern solid cases are used to dealing with. After some thorough searching around, I decided on the Gator Transit case. The construction and overall quality are really great. The case has some good structure and the sides are built up a little so that it doesn't feel like a cheap gig bag. Good pockets, good zippers, nice removable padding, etc. I would highly recommend this to anyone that doesn't want to go the solid case route or has something with a unique fit. Also, always go with Sweetwater.

Adjustable internals make this case very versitile

By Cedric S. from Lincoln, NE

I have a Gretsch Jet, a Gibson SG, and Danelectro '59XT. This case fits all of them, with some adjustment for the SG (remove pad at top of case). Its not a rigid gigbag but the padding is at least an inch thick on all sides including the interior of the face, and there is a rubber bumper pad on the bottom. The exterior is pretty solidly woven, and there are pockets on the face at the top, and bottom. The zippers are solid and smooth. There are shoulder straps that fold away if you don't need them in their own pocket which is a nice touch.

Everything I need for traveling far and light!

By Jessie from Medford, NJ

I needed a case that would be light, durable and weather resistant as I was traveling to and attending a guitar and bass clinic aboard a cruise ship. Long story short.. I don't fly... so I took the train 1200 miles to the Cruise ship and then spent 8 days aboard ship at sea attending 30 hours of music sessions (so back and forth through 14 decks to and from stateroom to classroom etc every day). Then 1200 miles of train track back to home. This case was fantastic!! So light yet so tough... and plenty of room for my books, extra strings, tuner, digital recorder, capo, headphone amp and phones etc... Patrick Weaver helped me pick out and cautioned me to measure the length of the guitar I would be transporting before committing to the any case I may buy.... they are not all capable of fitting all guitars! I didn't realize that and quite frankly that was what helped me decide on this case ... It accommodated the guitar I was traveling with which measures 39"... some of the other cases available will only accommodate lengths up to 38".... so make sure you check that out! ... oh... and of course I can tell you that the price of this case was excellent on top of all the other great benefits...

Better than most hard cases

By Daniel from Arcata, CA

Excellent padding on all sizes, has a neck brace, and extra padding for the butt of the body and the top of the headstock. Pockets are great for sheet music sized books and smaller pockets for picks and small things. Nice backpack straps make transport very comfortable (no more forearm muscle burn from carrying like a briefcase).

Highly recommend.

So, I wasn't sure about this case since reading a few reviews for it... had me worried about quality. Some had back carry strap breaking issues, but they were very few. I called and spoke to Codie Priester who assured me it was good quality and as always, there are production issues every now and then. True. I told him what guitar I had and he said it absolutely would fit in this case since the himself had a case. Amazing quality and Sweetwater's shipping was free, fast and high quality. I always buy guitar stuff on Amazon, even the guitar I have, a Jackson JS32 Dinky DKA. I will always buy my guitar stuff from Sweetwater for their amazing staff, quality and shipping service. Also, 2 yr warranty on items is a bonus. I had my case in 2 days...... Sweetwater will my new go to place for even my next guitar. Thanks Codie.

By Hank M. from Brooklyn, NY
Music Background: Serious about music. Playing for 48 years

The bag is top notch. It's well made and has plenty of padding. It is practically a hard shell case. It actually has more padding than many hard cases I've seen. Many gig bags fold over if you try to stand them upright. I can lean this one against a wall and it is so rigid that it stands up straight. I highly recommend this product. You can feel confident buying this case.
As always, Sweetwater is the best company to deal with. Mike Hammond is the greatest!

Gig bags is one of those things where you get what you pay for and here you really get what you pay for. This is my first Gator bag and they did a great job. Its construction is real sturdy and the craftsmanship is what you'd expect from a $ bag. Lots of details you can't really see on the pics. My other bags are soft and I never really felt like the guitar is "truly" protected but this bag is basically a "case" gig bag. Built really really well. I was gonna buy a $ bag and I'm glad I listened to my sales guy Matt McKible and got this! You won't regret.
