If you play electric bass please give Gravity Picks a try. Especially the 2mm and thicker versions. I've been using them for nearly a year now and they've completely changed the way I view playing with a pick on bass. I was mainly a finger style player until these.

Mainly because on bass, I just couldn't warm up to any of the picks on the market since most are geared toward guitar and not for bass. These however have a completely different feel to them not like any other pick I've tried, including other acrylic picks. On guitar I like a flexible pick but on bass, 99% of the time I want totally rigid. That's what these picks give you.

Now these will take a little getting used to but once you get the feel for them they simply blow everything else away on electric bass. I play and record mainly extreme metal so these work really well for fast playing and aggressive tone. A added bonus to acrylic picks is they are very aggressive sounding.

I like that in the studio since it helps the bass cut in the mix. A little tip for recording bass: Instead of changing your EQ settings, try different strings or different picks made of different materials. If you haven't thought about it before try it. You will be very surprised at how much difference pick material and strings can make. If you get the sound your looking for on the way into your DAW, without added processing, that's that much less work, and that much less messing with your tone you have to do later.

I can attest to how long these last too. I originally purchased several of the 2mm versions of these thinking they would wear out like other brands of picks I've tried. It's been nearly a year and I haven't worn the first one out yet and I use it daily!

I'm finding the thicker picks work very well for me because they give me more control with the heavy strings on my electric basses. I find that with a thicker pick that I just don't have to work as hard to move the strings. That means less fatigue and the longer I can play without messing it all up! Also due to the properties of acrylic (and the shape and thickness of these picks) I was able to change the way I hold the pick and the angle at which the pick contacts the strings.

It''s hard to explain and easier to demonstrate but I find that the way it helps me alter my technique lets me play faster with more control. Believe me, I haven't tried every single pick on the market but I've tried many different ones over the years and none have done for my playing what these do.

The only down side to these picks is they are bit slick. I just rough mine up with some 80 grit sand paper and I'm good to go. One of my friends remarked that these seem rather expensive. I told him that while not as inexpensive as your run of the mill pick, on bass, these blow everything else on the market away a hundred times over and they last forever!

In closing I'll say that while there are many great picks on the market, and while there are other acrylic picks out there, none compare to these for electric bass. These are in my opinion simply the best thing going for electric bass. Everyone is different so your mileage may vary of course but I attest that I'm very happy with them.

I'll gladly pay the current price for these any day. They are a quality pick and needless to say I'm now a Gravity Picks customer for life. Thanks Sweetwater for carrying such a great product!
