Gator GRR-10L Rolling Rack Case Reviews

10U Molded Rack Case with 19" Rackable Depth, Locking Front and Rear Covers, Retractable Pull Handle and Inline Wheels

Gator is the original case manufacturer to add built-in wheels and pull out handles to the rack mount case. They took the high quality construction and design of their deluxe racks and strategically placed roller blade style wheels and a pull out handle. The best part is that the wheels do not interfere with the universal stack ability of these racks! The pull out handle has a locking mechanism to hold the handle firmly in place when in the extended position. Another example of Gator building user-friendly products at an affordable price!

Latch Broke Almost Immediately

By William H. from Rockville, MD

One of the four butterfly latches attaching one of the lids literally fell apart in my hand. The case is overall much flimsier than I expected.

Winston at Sweetwater customer service was awesome getting the problem sorted out.

Durability

By jorge a. from odessa, FL

I have my X32 with wireless receivers and transmitters installed in this along with a router. Although it does the job in holding the units, this case is not made to withstand the weekly duties of transport. The weakest being the latches which broke off within 1 month. At $ this could be built better. I would recommend a hard case ATA Gator or Pelican.

Pretty Solid

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: Drummer, Sound Engineer, DJ

I've had this for about 2 years for my mobile DJ business. I appreciate that the case itself is pretty robust, it's pretty structurally sound.

The reason it only gets 3.5 for me is because the handle isn't s sturdy as the rest of the rack, and bends quite a bit in use. I believe this has also begun to make the release for the handle very difficult, and I'm worried mine will break pretty soon, which I will be pretty upset about. It may not seem like a big deal but I have to use this handle a lot so it's a huge functional issue for this rack.

This isn't a cheap case by any means, so I was hoping for a bit longer service before having any issues.

Easy to lock up and move

By Kristopher L. from NH

The rack is nice. The locking features are great and the portable roll around is helpful. I wish there was some sort of cable management for the back. Even mounting locations for tying power and signal does would be great.

Rugged

By Silas W.

My rack if its same as all idk but. The mount plates are opposite handle for rollers , so my equipment is sideways during transport. But it looks good and its fairly solid

Great Gear Great Service

By Tim L. from Chicago Area

Great Product. J.R. really takes care of his customers. Arrived on time within a day or two. I've never had service this good in any field.

Product is nice. It's sturdy yet light weight. Much more professional than DIY. I'm shocked how much people notice the prostyle gear. Just this rack with the same gear has drawn many positive comments.

The only down side is that the telescoping handle seems very light weight for too much stress. I have one crown 402 amp in it and a couple of EQs. I wouldn't use it for an amp rack, but then again, I don't think they are proposing it for that purpose.

Overall it's a great improvement towards your professional appearance and a handy time saving piece.

Gator GRR 10-L

By Sweetwater Customer

Overall the case is good. Just not as heavy gauge outer material as other cases i have owned. Not as dense. Also...make sure that your sales person does not offer a seperate set of rack screws as this item has a set included.

Cool

By Sweetwater Customer

My first rolling rack. The wheels come in handy. There is actually extra space underneath the bottom rack spot due to the wheel/handle assembly. This was perfect for stuffing a bunch of extra cable slack. I wish the handles were wide enough that you can put two hands on it. 10U worth of equipment is heavy and the load is usually very one-sided, so one handle in the middle can be pretty tough on the wrist/fingers. Also, the wheels don't really offer any shock resistance, so I always have to be careful going over door jambs, etc. You definitely won't be popping any curbs or anything. Also, if you have a nice cart (platform truck), that is infinitely better than bending over and wheeling this around, but I can't always fit my cart in my car and the wheels are sure handy to have in a pinch. I have several Gator racks and they have been sturdy. The tops always seem a little warped, but I never do any stacking, so that hasn't been an issue for me.
