Gator G-PRO-6U-13 Pro Series Shallow Rack Case
Gator G-PRO-6U-13 Pro Series Shallow Rack Case Reviews
Gator's Pro Series shallow rack case is a 6-space rack case that's made of nearly indestructible roto-molded polyethylene. It's the kind of rack case that's built to stand up to serious touring demands. With a 13" rackable depth, you can fit in your deepest rackmount gear. And to ease transport, the G-PRO-6U-13 features molded, ergonomic carrying handles on either side. Front and rear lids give you quick access to your gear, and recessed Penn Elcom twist latches will withstand years of constant use with your G-PRO-6U-13 from Sweetwater.
Literally stinks
Decent case, but for some reason it stinks real bad inside, like a nasty burnt smell.
It also arrived full of little bits of plastic that were somehow left over from the molding process.
I had to shake them all out and let them fall to the floor, and then vacuum them all up. A couple of hundred little bits of plastic fell out.
I just wish the nasty burnt stench would go away.
Great product
The case is a great product. No issues, lightweight, high quality. Mounted a power conditioner and my xr18. Room to add more plus I have my router inside, hooked up and ready to go for each gig. Also enables me to keep my usb cable along with chargers and cables for the laptop and tablet connected and ready… all I have to do is take the covers off and plug in the power conditioner.
Gator Pro
built like a tank works great
It looks great
I don't use it my production guy use's it he asked for it and I got it. I would think it will do the job much better than the one he had before.

Room for improvement
I have used a number of Gator products and they've all performed very well over the years. This case is no exception, however the left and right rails are about 3/16 of an inch out of alignment causing the gear to look a little crooked. It's strictly cosmetic so I'll be keeping it, but yeah, room for improvement exists.
Great for Interchangeable Configurations
I have three of these racks that have dedicated purposes, but are designed to be applied together at time. The shallow depth makes it easy to reach cords and they aren't so heavy as to be unmanageable.
Good enough for my applications
I got this to mount some power conditioners and rack effects. Mounting is easy, depth was perfect for my equipment, and the hardware seems good. Also looks like it will provide decent protection. Unfortunately the case itself has a bit of flex and when closed, the covers don't necessarily have the cleanest fit. As this will mostly be used in the studio and talent shows at my son's school, it will definitely get the job done; if I were to tour, I would probably consider something a bit more sturdy.
Gator G-Pro
Great case. Sturdy buid.
Great case!
Everything you'd expect - sturdy, useful, roomy, and surprisingly light!
Works fine for me
Axe-Fx III fits just great and so far no issues
Gator Rack Case
Gator cases for one of my guitars has been a great piece so I replaced a wooden road case with 4 slots to this one with 6. Its shallower so it doesn't take up as much space but has plenty of room for my effects and cables/power cords. Sturdy but lighter weight which makes moving it much less of a chore. Plus it looks good as well.
Excellent quality and rugged
A solid and quality rack case that was perfect for my HAM radio Go Kit.
Not perfect, but really good.
Gator 6U 13" deep rack - Very sturdy feeling case. Quality hardware. Not overly heavy. Covers have a reinforcement bar in them. So that's good. The not so good? The covers are not straight. The center bows out a bit and barely seals. I assume this bowing is from the blow molding process. While I'm not planning on submerging this in water, I think if a seal is designed into it, then it needs to work. I wouldn't trust this seal. Secondly, the rack rails are not even on either side or end. Obviously, not a huge deal, but all my components are slightly crooked in the case. I expected better from a company like Gator. I'm sure I'm being over critical on that point though.
Just what I needed
Great size for my mobile recording rig.
Gator Pro Cases are a great value!
Good economical rack case
Stellar
This case has protected our mixer, power conditioner, as well as a network switch and access point. We've lugged it around in the rain, in the heat, everywhere. If you need a shallow case, this one offers 12U of actual mounting points (6u per side). I don't think you can actually fill all 12U unless you are very meticulous w/ depth, but it's only listed as a 6u shallow, and it's very rigid. This case is good and assuming your rack mount units will fit inside, it's actually really convenient. It comes with enough bolts to mount 6u on both sides of the unit. Just be aware, it might come with plastic pellets deep inside the crevices, I had to shake mine out for a while to get all of the plastic extruder pellets out, hopefully that's an uncommon problem.
Fantastic!
This case is perfect for my mobile DJ rig. It doesn't take up as much space as the 19" depth version but it still incredibly sturdy. I plan to buy more!
strong, solid, manageable to carry
This helps organize equipment in the studio and is great for carrying it all around. Super-strong and solid yet not too hard to carry. Nice size. Shout out to the customer service guy who helped us figure out what size we needed and other details!
Great Rack for my gear
This case now houses my ElevenRack and my Line6 PODHX rack units. It is rugged and came with far more rack screws than I needed. I rate it so highly because it is ideal for my use.
Gator-Pro-6U-13 Shallow Rack Case
Replaced a much larger rack case with this Gator case. So much easier to handle and takes up less space too in the van.
Can sit it up on end, leaving room for other equipment. This case is rock solid. Both front and back lids fit securely and the spring loaded twist latches assure the lids stay in place. Before I had to have help to unload and load my old road case, but, with this case I can do both by myself. Totally a back saver. Would highly recommend Gator cases.
If the lids were just a bit deeper so I could leave my aux. cable sends to amplifier hooked up from my digital mixer. Other than that, the case is perfect.
Exceeded my expectations
Used for an Amateur Radio deployment kit. I couldn't be more pleased.
Quite good for an Axe FX 3
I needed a 6U rack for an Axe FX 3, so this is the only lightweight rack (that I could find) that fits well. It's reasonably strong and perfect for hand-cary, etc., but I'd never dare put it on an airplane. The quality is reasonable, but weak in certain areas, e.g., some of the screw holes in the rail are not tapped very well. The latches look like they would smash off if hit sharply, but I don't think that's the point of this case: I think it's for gear that you will haul yourself, and for that, it's probably quite good. Aesthetically, the case is good.
Gator G-PRO-6U-13
It has a slit hole. Near one of the handles. Factory defect. Thin plastic wall on the side of the case. Not enough plastic reached the area during the manufacturing process. I just put plastic cement glue to cover the hole. I took picture with my camera but I'm not able to send it thru this review. Otherwise, it would have been perfect. It's exactly what I need. My amplifier fits perfectly too.
Dependable and professional
This is a lightweight quality built road case that protects your expensive investments. I purchased this case to protect my wedding ceremony mixing and microphone systems. It"s perfect and lightweight. I"ve been a long time and faithful user of Gator cases. You won"t go wrong with this exceptional product. Kudos to my sales representative Joel Helton for recommending this product!
Excellent Case
I bought the shallow rack case recently to replace an old road case that I had bought second hand that was just extremely heavy on its own. Having switched to the Gator 6U Shallow case, it feels way easier to move around and take my gear wherever I need to go.
