Martin gpc11e

By Rick Mottern from Ocean Springs, Miss on July 11, 2023 Music Background: Guitar player for over 30 years.

I've been playing guitar for 30+ years. All this time the only acoustic guitar I had was a 38 year old acoustic. It worked, but I wanted something better. My wife finally let me buy a guitar I wanted. I researched acoustic guitars and decided on a Martin gpc11e. This is an incredible guitar. I played a chord and realized two things; first, how good this guitar is, second how much my technique had declined. It you are on the fence about acoustic guitars, check this one out, it is an incredible guitar. My sales engineer Nick Rice helped my zero in on this guitar. I had a minor issue with it, Nick got the ball rolling regarding a return label. Ty Feigrnspan was the technician who did the work on my guitar. It is perfect. Benjamin Barnett did the shipping order. The shipping department did an incredible job packing my guitar for shipping. Every purchase I have made has been incredibly well packaged. Thank you Sweetwater for a job well done..

Fantastic playing and sounding guitar. Louder and plays better than my D28.

By Jim from Tennessee on May 8, 2023 Music Background: I am 4th of a 5 generation family band, We play bluegrass, gospel, and country.

I like to buy, sell, and trade guitars. I usually stick with Martin, Taylor, and Blueridge. I traded a Martin Xseries for the GPC 11e, even trade. What a deal it was! I had never even heard of this model and knew nothing about it. I have owned several Martins and have had a D28 for several years. The GPC11e is now my go to guitar for all gigs. It is actually louder than my D28. Like others have said, the tuner is a little slow, but accurate. I will keep this guitar for a long time.

Beautiful guitar

By Steve Docherty on February 27, 2023

Guitar arrived in perfect condition and ridiculously fast. My son (who's a much better player than I am) and I spent 2 hours playing it as soon as it got here. We've played and owned several different guitars. This included a D28 and D35 back in the mid 1970's. Unfortunately I sold the D35 and traded the D28 on a strat 40th anniversary model ( which I also no longer own). I've thought about those 2 Martin many times since. Although I would have liked to, I couldn't justify dropping cash on another D28. So I did my homework to see what else is out there after all these years. Well this GPC 11 is a fantastic replacement for my old Martins. It plays beautifully and the tone is spot on and it sounds great thru an amp. I want to thank Bob from Sweetwater for his help and for getting it to me unbelievable fast. This is the first time I've dealt with Sweetwater and I will definitely do it again. The service is outstanding.

Nice Martin

By Towheel from Tennessee on December 13, 2022 Music Background: Play guitar not a guitar player

This is my first Martin Guitar, so far not disappointed at all. Very well made, I see no issues at all with fit and finish. Beautiful finish and sounds really great. Has a lot of bass on top strings and good highs on bottom strings, maybe lacking a bit in the mids to me. Love the built in tuner which seems to be pretty accurate when testing it with more expensive tuners I have. Can't say much on the electronics and pickup really haven't plugged it in but once or twice and that was just a minute or two. But not plugged in sound great. The Martin 12-56 string sound great but a little thick for me so I replaced them with Elixir 52-11, which sound great too. Overall I'd definitely purchase this guitar again…..

By Larry K. from PA on December 16, 2021

This came shipped in perfect condition. The setup out of the box was perfect with nice low action right around .090 on the low E at the 12th fret. No adjustment was needed on the neck. As good as this guitar looks, it sounds even better. The is a great deal for an all wood Martin.

As I sure most of you know, Solid wood guitars are very salty. I have wanted a solid wood Martin for years but could only keep it a dream as a lottery winning moment. I came across this guitar, and had to do some research. I am quite fussing when doing research, I rely on several things included but not limited to customer reviews. I look them up on You tube and anywhere else I can get info including the manufacturer. I purchased this guitar and I cant tell you how absolutely blessed I feel to have it. Its like a warm blanket wrapped around me when I play it. I own and have own Many many guitars, this guitar plays and feels and sounds amazing for under a grand. I know its only going to sound better the longer I have it and more I play it, which makes me thrilled because I absolutely love it now. The gig bag is beautifully padded I do not worry about my investment getting damaged in it. I cant say enough good about it.

Everything has a con...
Its minimal but must be added I supposed, I hate to say anything negative.
* The tuner though accurate, is slow as many reviews have said, Does NOT bother me. It stays in tune, and I have a Snark.

GREAT GUITAR AND GREAT SERVICE BY SWEETWATER

By Tim Bednarz from Arlington, Texas on September 17, 2020

I am very happy with my purchase of the Martin GPC-11E. It plays great and looks great. It is a great deal for the money. I am also very pleased with the way Sweetwater, and in particular my sales rep Ethan Kattau, handled my order. I was contacted quickly by Ethan after I made my purchase online. I was kept up to date on the status of my order and my guitar arrived quickly via Fedex. It was well packaged and protected and played great right out of the box.

Great customer service!

By Alan from Enumclaw, WA on August 31, 2020 Music Background: re-starting after long layoff

Not only did they have the guitar I wanted in stock, they were able to help on faster shipping to avoid a weekend arrival. Product was double boxed and arrived damage free. One day following my order, David sent me an email with all the photos taken by Sweetwater during their inspection of the instrument. How cool is that! Very pleased with my experience and will always come back. Well done David and the team at Sweetwater!oh... and the guitar is awesome too!

Serious Bargain!

By Charlie from Frederick, MD on March 15, 2019 Music Background: Intermediate Player

I had played for about 7 years and gave up for about 2 years. I sold off everything that I had including a Taylor 314CE. I started up again about 1 year ago and stuck to electric guitars. I was casually shopping for an acoustic, but turned off to the price of admission for all solid wood guitars.

I was pleasantly surprised when I found the Martin Road Series. Yes, it's made in Mexico. Of course Ryan at Sweetwater treated me great, answered my questions and went completely out of his way to help me. I decided to take a chance and couldn't be happier. Sweet sounding and easy playing. The Martin gig bag is very nice - thick and heavily padded. Really a great value and it will only improve with more playing.

To pick a couple of nits-

The action could be a bit lower. It's not high by any means, but there's a bit of room for impovement.

The built in tuner responds a bit slowly. My Snark is quicker. They do tune to the same place, but the Snark just responds a bit quicker.

The Martin strings are "squeaky". I had used Elixers in the past and they don't squeak as my fingers move along them. The Martin strings do.

Great instrument and fantastic service

By John S. from Queens NY on February 26, 2019 Music Background: Improving Beginner

I recently retired and decided to pick up where I left off in the 1970s trying to learn to play guitar. After two months of trying different brands and models in my price range, I decided on the Martin GPC-11E. I was reticent about buying a guitar on line but was referred to Sweetwater by a old buddy I trusted. He hooked me up with sales engineer Nich Magnani. Right away, unlike the big box music stores, I felt like I was working with a "guitar guy" and not a "sales guy". I've already placed another order for some accessories and will continue to come back. The personalized service, the follow-up phone calls to make sure everything is right, is true customer service.

I've had my Martin for a few weeks now and find myself playing and practicing nearly every day. That alone should tell you something about the guitar. It makes me want to play it... I'm not a pro. musician. I'll never be on tour opening for CSNY, though I'm sure you could play this Martin on stage - it's that nice. It sounds great, plays easy and best of all, it makes me happy. What more could I want from a guitar!

Great, except.....

By Scott from Upper peninsula of Michigan on May 24, 2023

This guitar is beautiful. I love the tone and the playability and comfort. I would have given it 5 stars except for the tuners are not good. The B and G string martin logo tuners didn't hold tune and when I would turn the tuner 3 or 4 full rotations it wouldn't go up in pitch. So I swapped them out, now it's perfect! With that said, still would recommend this guitar. The sound is so beautiful

Wasn't impressed at first

By Bob from MI on June 3, 2022

Saw this guitar and had to have it. I"ve always been a fan of Martin guitars and this was a chance to own one at a an affordable price. It took over a month after ordering it before it arrived which was not a big deal, but when it did and I unpacked it, I couldn't believe how awful it played. Almost like a cheap beginner's guitar. The action was terribly high and the strings were like telephone wires. I was honestly contemplating returning it, but after consulting with the Sweetwater representative, he told me to take it to a reputable dealer for adjustment and they would deduct the cost from my bill. It happens that the neck was slighty off and with a simple adjustment and new strings, it now plays like a charm. I'm now completely satisfied with this guitar. Thanks Sweetwater for your great customer service.

Overall, great guitar

By Martin Cook from Broken Arrow, OK on March 8, 2021 Music Background: Been playing for 50+ years now.

I bought this guitar because I was curious about what an all solid wood Martin guitar, with a price point under a thousand dollars would play and sound like.

Unplugged it has fantastic tone! It's very well balanced, not to bright, not too warm. I was a little surprised at how well it projects. I think it's actually louder than my Taylor, which I didn't expect. It responds well to finger picking and still allows me to strum hard, when the mood strikes me.

Playability is hindered a bit, for me, because the high E string has a tendency to fall off the fretboard when I play certain chords, or do pull offs on that string. I think the bevel on the frets may be slightly too aggressive, or the string is slightly too far out, on the nut. I suppose I could file a new nut easily enough, but, I may return it instead. That's really my only complaint. Otherwise it's a really nice guitar.

I am very pleased with the way this guitar sounds and the playability. For the money it's a real good buy.

This guitar needs constant truss rod adjustments. Had it professionaly set up with custom lights but it still feels stiff.Been playing for 40 years, all kinds of guitars, and this one is unacceptable. I wish i had bought it from sweetwater and had it set up there.
