Bought a Demo

Just received this guitar yesterday and played it this morning. The pictures Sweetwater put up made this guitar look worse than it actually is. The extremely minor flaws described and depicted by Sweetwater in finish were difficult to find to the point where I would rate the overall condition of this guitar as well north of excellent and perhaps bordering on mint. I saved 350 dollars!

The Guild Om 150 CE Acoustic sings like an angel. Excellent projection, tone, clarity and resonance. You can feel this thing vibrating in your lap. Haven't even tested the pickups yet or changed the strings. Worked with Sean Geyer on this one and all I can say is Outstanding! Sweetwater has earned my trust and loyalty.

This is a great acoustic

I've had this guitar for about 2 months now and am very pleased with it. It plays nicely and sounds great. I've used it plugged in several times now and am very happy with the amplified sound as well. I like that the onboard controls are hidden in the sound hole and it looks sleek. This guitar is exactly what I want in this price range. I know I could spend twice as much and get "more" but this really does the job for a mid-range price point.

Pre-set up review

I've wanted one of these guitars for a very long time, since at least 2010 when Fender owned Guild. I worked for a dealer and these imported solid wood Guild guitars absolutely slayed. I always thought they were underappreciated and undervalued. Guild's fit and finish was better than the half a dozen other brands we carried and light years beyond the other G-titled builder.

I finally this year I got one. The wider nut is supremely comfortable for finger style playing and the smaller body does not lack for depth or volume. It has also a sweetness you'll not find in a dreadnaught configuration. The trebles ring nicely and the bass is throaty but not overpowering.

I've not plugged it in to check out the electronics. Electronics played no role whatsoever in my decision for purchase - I honestly would have preferred a non-cutaway and non electric.

The rosewood body is beautiful and the adornment on the headstock is nicely understated. I do not like a lot of bling on guitars and this delivers nicely. The USA variety do not offer a rosewood guitar and that was important enough to me I went with the import model that does offer it.

It does need a little tweaking from the factory. The action is on the high side for fingerstyle and is better suited for chugging. I'm sure I'll lose some volume when I do this work so I've purchased a new bone saddle to cut on rather than cutting on the OEM saddle.

There are two reasons this got 4.5 stars and not 5 - the gig bag and the tuners. I'd prefer to see sealed tuners and a hard case. The gig bag is the deluxe $100+ one from Guild - surely they could have sprung for a non deluxe hard case.

Great guitar!

Love this guitar! Great look and feel. I used to own a different Guild Westerly dread and have wanted an OM ever since. I couldn't be more happy. The solid wood sounds perfect. My only beef is the soft shell case. I ordered a Guild hard shell case to replace it.
