This is honestly and truly the best guitar ever

By Abigail from Memphis, TN on November 17, 2022 Music Background: Concert Band, Marching Band, Jazz band. I also make my own music and am a music theory nerd.

I've had this guitar since April 7th, 2021 and it has been everywhere i've been since then. I bring it on every trip, bring it to school quite a bit because me and my band director jam, and I've played a few gigs with it. This guitar is so beautiful and is still the reason I have motivation to keep playing music. It's such a dream to play, it sounds great, and I also feel I have a connection to it.

This is my favourite guitar I own

By James from Memphis, Tennessee, USA on November 15, 2022 Music Background: Self Taught, Occasional Gigs

I have multiple guitars and this guitar is my favoutite. I've had it for 2 years now and still, everytime I play it I can't help from smiling. This guitar does great in the studio, live, and just practicing. Overall, best guitar ever.

Wow wow wow !!!

Amazing guitar for the price.

By BethK from midwest on June 15, 2021 Music Background: intermediate guitar player, lifelong musician

I bought this guitar after playing several in a store. I was looking for something with a different sound than my spruce-top dreadnought. The more I play it, the better it sounds, and it is beautiful! I love this instrument. The tuner and built-ins are a little clunky, but nothing major. It sounds good plugged in or unplugged. All around, a great guitar for the price, and nicer than many priced far higher. This one is eye-poppingly gorgeous in appearance, too. Being a mini-jumbo, it fits in a hard-sided dreadnought case pretty well for the occasional trip to a gig or party with friends.

get em while they are hot.

For the money this is one of the best things going that I have seen in a while. Rob Kramer strikes again!

Love playing this guitar. I have played it hook up to my amp and without the cord. Both sound amazing. Very Satisfied with the guitar I would diffently recomend it.

Value rivals guitars twice the price!

These are beyond incredible! The split saddle gives the guitar a similar action you'd expect from an esp electric. The tone is warm and bright. It simply fills the room with the sounds we fantasize about in our own heads but it's actually real. The built in tuner is a brilliant convenience and that koa wood is a hundred times more elegant than the photos show. It has such a warm, soothing look to it that makes you just want to never put it down. I've always been a takamine fan but this one really blows the others out of the water. I'd also like to add that sweet water was extremely professional with fulfilling my order. Cody follows up like a champ making sure I'm happy and even sent me photos of the exact unit they shipped. Thank you a thousand times! This is really going to help me create some gold! You'd be completely astonished how a great instrument like this can inspire you to spend the time writing the songs that this thing deserves to play.

My first real acoustic ... very happy!

By Mike from Virginia on March 1, 2021

I'll preface by saying I have little comparison to other "high end" acoustics. I'm a bass player that is trying to put together a small instrument collection for my home studio. I found this guitar to be slightly out of this beginners price point however the allure of Koa drew me in. You cant find anything close to these specs and this price. The guitar did not disappoint. The Koa is gorgeous and the feel of the body/neck very comfortable. The body is carved ever so slightly on the back that it molds to my body. I will say the neck is on the chunkier side even though the description says otherwise. Its not overly large but definitely chunkier then implied. I am also confused about the weird discoloration near the scarf/neck joint. Its like they sprayed one part of the neck and didn't bother with the other. Not a big deal but it looks weird being a solid , straight line. Sound wise this thing sings. I would call it full and balanced. I did have to dial back the mids a little when recording for whatever reason. The onboard tuner is functional but a little cheesy if you ask me. The action/setup were decent but found it to be on the higher side for my liking. I don't see any mention so I figured I'd save some folks the time. Takamine usually puts shims under the bridge. You have to be insanely careful as the piezo is right there. Once I removed 2 shims this guitar is spot on and extremely easy to play. Overall a solid guitar and one I think most would be very happy with.

Excellent. Please read

I opened the box and couldn't believe my eyes. This thing lights up a room and sounds like heaven. Shape, color, style, sound, and quality are above excellent. Everyone I've shown it to is blown away by how ****** pretty this guitar is and I think I'll keep it for the rest of my life.

Quality of Service

By John Robertson from BC on November 22, 2020

Usually I don't fill these things out but in this case I will take the time. The service from Sweetwater James their rep I spoke to was amazing. Not only could I pick the exact guitar I wanted but they took the time to ensure that I was buying the right guitar for me. James asked me all about my playing where I was at what type of music I wanted to play etc. So I was very assured in my choice. In the case of the Takamine there are many different grain patterns to the Hawaiian Koa wood and with their pictures I could pick the one I wanted.

Excellent Value

By John Denison from Floyds Knobs, In. on November 22, 2020 Music Background: 66 YO... been playing since 1964. (have played professionally)

In a nutshell, I'm not sure you can beat this guitar for the money. Great action and beautiful appearance. Nice tone, sounds fine plugged in. I think the Takamine line is the best bang for the buck.

Beautiful, great sounding and plays like butter

By Mark Wolverton from Sparks, NV on October 17, 2019 Music Background: Drummer/bass player and sound and lights exstrodenair!

When I received this guitar it was setup perfectly. Sweetwater's 55 post inspection has proved tie and time again to be excellent. Not only is the Koa wood such a beautiful finish, it sounds incredible. The smaller size of this guitar makes it perfect for me to play. I'm a bass player/drummer but need a guitar to help with writing songs, so I don't have the fingers of a guitar player and this guitar is perfect for me.

WOW!!!

By John Carey from Galloway, Ohio on July 18, 2019 Music Background: Beginner

I"ve barely taken a step or two down the road of playing the guitar, so I can"t tell you a whole lot about the technical aspects of the GN77KCE, or how this guitar sounds vs. a Martin, Taylor, or any other brand. What I can tell you is I liked the way it sounded, looked, the size, but most of all the way it felt in my hands. The quality of the build is phenomenal....literally flawless. Another thing that is flawless is the service that I receive from Sweetwater, and Nick Huskins in particular. Knowledgeable reps, great guitar and pre-ship inspections, fast shipping, great after-sale service.....Hallmarks of Sweetwater. Oh...and candy!

Update after using guitar for a while

By Sweetwater Customer on February 22, 2019

As the guitar has settled in the action has gotten even lower. Really easy to play with heavier strings than I usually use. Guitar still sounds fantastic. However, after a bit more time plugged in, and doing some side-by-side comparisons, the electronics are not that great, at least not as good as my Taylor. On the plus side, the tuner is really nice to have built-in. It works as well as my Snark, a nice surprise feature that I really use. Also, something I forgot to mention in my previous review, this is no way a jumbo or any kind of semi jumbo guitar. Fairly standard size. That"s OK, but I"m not sure why they even put the word jumbo in the description. Overall a fantastic guitar, at a great price, I just won"t use the electronics, which I don"t need anyway. As always sweetwater hits a homerun.

Good guitar

By Sweetwater Customer on February 18, 2019

Very nice guitar. I was a bit prejudiced against this brand, having owned an old clunker many years ago. But, this one was excellent. Action was very low, no string buzz, fairly bright sounding which I really like. Quality tuners, intonation good. The electronics were surprisingly good. Really good sound in general. Acoustic or electric. I am now sold on this brand. Always worth looking at. The only downside was the big plastic box that holds the electronics. But everything functions, it"s just a bit unsightly. Thank you Ryan for suggesting this guitar. I originally was looking at other ones, but he suggested this, good choice. Sweetwater is a great place to do business with. So far everything Ryan has suggested has worked out beautifully. It really helps having sales people who know what they"re talking about.

well made great sound guitar

By yuriy nesterov from Florida on January 3, 2019 Music Background: hobby

Needed a guitar not big body with cutaway.Guitar to practice fingerstyle, play chords practice with pick Today I am not disappointed with my choice. I want to mention, that I prepaid for guitar, but when it was available I was away from my place. Thank you, sweetwater guys hold it and sent guitar on a day I wanted. On picture guitar look unattractive. But it such a beautiful guitar when I hold it. Just look worth all the money. Fist night guitar didn't shine. Next day it began to open and sound just great. Two things easy to notice, this guitar doesn't produce unwonted frequencies, each string sound very clean and second it tuned just perfect. It is regular size guitar , just body slightly slim. Because guitar sound very clean it can be payed aggressively and there is no buzz just clean loud sound.I would describe the guitar sound as "mature". Good fist guitar just go for lighter strings adjust action. Some one who is in the business should not be disappointed. I recorded guitar on boss 800. Original strings didn't do anything to guitar. youtube , miami lights another day.
Forgot. Very good pickup

Still love Taylor guitars but this is pretty good

By Randy Gulick from SC on November 10, 2023

Been playing a Taylor 614ce and now a 414ce-R... Sold the 614 a few years ago to a friend and played my 50-year-old Ovation until getting this Takamine. Still getting used to it but has a good sound...not like my Taylor which is a crisp sound and resonance but more like a Martin. Will prbably sell this next year and get a Taylor 814ce.
