Gator GM-POP FILTER 6-inch Double-layer Pop Filter
Gator GM-POP FILTER 6-inch Double-layer Pop Filter Reviews
Eliminate those annoying plosives with Gator's GM-POP FILTER. This robust pop stopper makes short work of hard, breathy consonants like "p" and "b," ensuring great-sounding vocal takes. Want better vocal tracks? Then get a quality pop filter like the GM-POP FILTER.
it does it's job
Everything works the way it should and I have no complaints.
Middle of the road
As pop filters go, it's doing it's job. BUT, don't be fooled by the picture that shows a flexible arm. Mine is so stiff, it might as well be solid. If I bend it where I want it, it will not stay and straightens back out. Maybe over time it'll gain some flexibility, out of the box, it's tough to work with.
Not worth the price
I needed another pop shield and had heard good things from a couple of other engineers.
There is a reason the price is low. The pieces that screw together - the clamp and the mesh head, are made from molded plastic...the threads still had flashing on it. The clamp has to to attach to the goose neck with a threaded nut that is simply too big, i.e. the threads don't hold it on. The leftover flashing did. So I cannot use it until I head to the hardware store and get a real nut for it.
Gator - make the threads from metal. Not cheap plastic. This is supposed to be something that can be used in a pro-environment.
The mesh is cool. and from videos it seems to do well as stopping pops without altering the vocal sound.
Best sounding pop filter / poor build quality
I did a shoot out with this pop filter against 4 others and this product won the shootout in regards to sound and actually stopping plosives and sibilance. However the build of the gooseneck and mount aren't great. Also the material used is on the filter itself is very sensitive to touch. But it sounds fantastic.
Cheap waste of materials
The nut doesn't thread correctly on the attachment and while looking for a replacement, the arm broke off from the filter. I've tried using gorilla glue to reattach it to no avail. Overall, been trying to fix this as soon as I received it. Should have sent it back.
First try, nut fell off
As soon as I mounted this onto my boom arm, and tried to adjust the pop filter arm, the plastic nut came off the threading. Seems like should have been made out of something more sturdy. I also received this filter with nylon mesh loose on one side. probably from metal clamp laying on it in box.
Good design - poor execution
The design is simple, easily adjustable, and can fit on a wide variety of stand poles. But whoever decided to make one of the most important parts out of plastic completely ruined this thing. The threaded cap is out of tolerance by so much that you can press it on instead of screw it on. This of course means that it looses grip under any sort of pressure as well. Other than this small but significant design/manufacturing oversight, this pop filter is excellent.
I'll definitely be upgrading to something else.
This thing is a piece of junk
I installed this on a mic stand when I first got it and never moved it. The bendable metal piece fell out of the clamp side first and when I tried to reattach it, the thing fell out of the actual pop filter itself. It is held together by about a quarter-inch of glue on each side which stinks to high heaven. Spend your money elsewhere. The worst product I've ever purchased on Sweetwater and the worst Gator product I've ever had the displeasure of waiting months to receive. Thanks COVID.
Plastic nut is useless
This is not the pop-filter you are looking for.
The plastic nut that attaches the gooseneck to the stand clamp does not hold.
It pops off if you even look at it the wrong way.
I haven't been able to use it once and it now sits in the box unused.
If Gator had simply used a metal nut this would not be an issue.
My advice? Buy any pop filter but this one.
Doesn't Work, Shoddy Design
I ordered this pop filter one year ago. It fell apart within a week or so.
The screw doesn't screw on at the bottom/base of the pop filter stem piece. It just falls off. It's like the two screw pieces are different sizes. The design on this pop filter doesn't work. Mine didn't work. I would strongly encourage buyers NOT to get this pop filter. Cheap.
Screw broke
Would be a awesome pop filter if the mount and parts that hold the goose neck to the pop filter weren't so easy to damage. Oh wells live and learn
Arm broke and screw wouldn't bite
The arm of this pop filter could not support the (light) weight of the pop filter itself because the screw would not bite. Because the screw could not be tightened, the filter turned downward and would not stay in place in front of the microphone. While adjusting the arm to try and place it in front of the microphone, it snapped and broke. This was on the first use for this particular pop filter.
Broke off at the base after 2 days
Just as two other reviewers, the flexible arm broke off at the plastic base.
Defect in adjustable srm
On my first use of the screen while adjusting the flexible arm it broke off at the base. The metal base just cracked and broke off like a cheap toy. This is the first pop filter that I have purchased and I thought I could go cheap. Apparently not.
Nice!
Gets the job done and not too pricey. Works for me!
Worked perfectly
Well designed, came exactly as ordered, as usual Sweetwater delivered over and above. Thanks
GM Pop Filter
The pop filter does what it is supposed to do: stop, halt, or decrease the irritating vocal plosives from exhaling puffy air from the human mouth and "popping" the speakers. The popping is irritating to we who hear ourselves and for our listening audience. In my case, it is listeners to my FM radio station.
I gave this pop filter a 4 star rating because the plastic nut to tighten the flexible gooseneck to the clamp did not work - even the first time - when I tried hooking the gooseneck to the microphone holder. So I found a metal microphone nut and used that to fasten the gooseneck to the clamp.
Solid
Good, solid, pop filter.
Goes on easy, and does the job well.
Does me well and for $ you can't beat it.
Great Experience
I've had this product for six months now and have had a great experience with it. No complaints. I've used it on the road and in my studio. I haven't seen any quality issues with it.
Great when it stayed together
This pop filter helped my vocals sound GREAT! Unfortunately, after about a month and a half of use, the bendable metal piece fell out of the hole where it attaches to the mic stand mount. I guess Ill have to find some super or hot glue.
I'ts A Pop Filter
I'm not sure what can be said about a pop filter. It looks well built and seems to do the job.
I bought it for the longer gooseneck than others offered. An important factor to get around larger microphones with shock mounts.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one of these as the need arises
Standard
Standard pop filter. Like the double mesh!
Works great
The Gator GM-POP FILTER works great to take the p's and b's off of your track!!! Definitely recommend this to anyone!!! I think you get the most bang for your buck with this filter!!!
