This guitar is a piece of art
A beautiful sounding and easy to play guitar. Has been a good workhorse and good couch guitar. I've could've gotten this cheaper thru Amazon, but I stuck with Sweetwater, especially knowing how prime ships things nowadays.

I spent a ton of time looking for a classical guitar and homed in on the Cordoba GK Studio Negra. What a great choice! The design, finish and sound are top notch; it plays like a dream right out of the box. My Sweetwater assistant to Matt Christopherson was knowledgeable, patient and well-informed. Delivery was superfast (3 days from order to delivery). and out of the box, the guitar sounds beautiful. Can't wait to use it for recording and gigs!
Amazing guitar
I cannot gush enough about this guitar. It has a super fast neck and sounds amazing. Darius is the man and I would like to thank the people at Sweetwater. I would rather spend my cash at a place that blows away all and any store out there.
Nice guitar for the price point
I have missed having a nylon string guitar in my collection. This fills that void at a fair price. It sounds as I want it to acoustically and plugged in to an acoustic amp.
Fantastic Guitar, and a great platform for an upgrade
I purchased this model a few years ago, and it is a fantastic guitar. The neck shape is extremely comfortable, which is very important to me as I am battling arthritis in my left thumb. The stock electronics work well, but I was interested in experimenting with a Barbera pickup. I was easily able to replace the stock pickup with the Barbera, and integrate it into the onboard preamp. It elevated this guitar to a whole new level. The Barbera, combined with the on board mic is an amazing sound. With the upgrade, you can have a world class A/E nylon string for a grand. What's not to love?
Beautiful guitar
I've been a guitar player for more than forty-five years. Much of my playing has been fingerstyle blues and jazz, and more recently flamenco. So, I recently decided to finally get a flamenco guitar. After much research I bought my Cordoba GK Studio Negra for less than half price because it's used and has a few minor dings. It's nice and loud, and perfect fit for my playing. I'd highly recommend it to anyone.
GK STUDIO NEGRA -- I LIKED IT
I'm a late 60's starting guitar student -- mid book 5 suzuki method -- have a C-12, a C-5, and a GK Studio Negro. All different. Each one feels like talking to a different friend with unique opinions and sense of humor.
The GK is not exactly full flamenco but it's a lot of fun, it's a little thinner depth and the nut width is a little smaller. On days when my hands hurt (arthritis, rats) the GK is a little easier. It's a bit warmer tone than the traditional flamencos my friend has but overall lighter and less "serious" than the classical guitars. You can do a nice singing classical tone, but you have to be willing to be more delicate. It's more like Natalie Dessay, the C12 is more like Joyce Di Donato.
My teacher always has his GK at our lessons. After some months I find I want the action a little higher (not much, just a smidge)... but not as high as the C-12-- so I can do a little more with attack and dynamic range. But it's supposed to be able to buzz like a flamenco. If you want to play really loud, I guess you will have to plug it in.
I've stuck with the Sauvarez strings, they seem to sing better than the others I've tried, but I also think the search for perfect strings is probably something to avoid if possible. If not governed, that way lies madness.
I've spent a lot of time playing lots of different classical guitars in the store and I have to say the Cordobas always seem to be the ones that feel most natural. But what do I know? I'm just an amateur.
I would love to try it against the Pro version, which is supposedly in construction and sound more like the C12 would be to the C5 or C10. But for the price I found it a great value. It's not pretentious, but it's a lot better than I am. The GK Studio is a guitar that probably won't hold you back unless maybe you are at a pretty high level, and maybe not even then. I've heard very good performers make wonderful music with it.
Oh, and one more thing. It seems to be pretty stable against humidity and temperature variations. We do live in a house where the winter humidity is around 40% and in the summer up to 60%. I like to leave my guitars out in various places so if I wander by I can quickly pick one up and play it. This may not be the best plan for care of the instruments... so far the Cordobas seem to be tolerating it.
Great sound
I normally play steel string guitars but always loved the sound that nylon string guitars produce (Willie Nelsons guitar Trigger is a nylon string).
I have never played one so I decided to give it a try. A friend of mine suggested a flamenco guitar (versus a classical) because the action is lower than a classical so there will be less of a learning curve.
I am really glad I settled on this one. Not only is it a beauty to look at, the sound is incredible.
I was really surprised at the volume of this guitar. It is every bit as loud as my Ovation and just a tad softer than my Martin (both steel string). The Fishman blended pickups produce a really natural sound.
I don't intend to get into playing flamenco, but this is still a joy to finger pick.
