Go with Roland
I have experience using both OEM Roland cables and knock-offs; the Roland cables are better. The knock-offs I've tried (I have not done a study, just anecdotal) work; however, with some patches, movement of the non-Roland cable results in noise through the synth and into the amp and out into air. This doesn't happen with the Rolland cables.
A second point: to get better life out of the Roland cable, take a look at the review which describes a system of attaching a carbiner to the cable about 20 inches up from the plug using two wire ties and attaching a key chain ring on your strap, then attach the carbiner to the key ring when getting ready to play. This system alleviates stress where the cable meets the plug (this has been the failure-point for my cables).
One final point: buying through Sweetwater you know that you are getting the OEM Roland cable, not a counterfeit cable - this is important.
They don't last forever in my experience
I play about 30 gigs a year and in the last 4 years I've gone through 2 of these cables. They work great and then one of the strings won't make connection until you unplug and re plug the cable back in or re seat it. Last night I could literally wiggle the cable and one of the strings on my guitar wouldn't get picked up. I don't have this issue with any of the other of the dozens of xlr's and 1/4" cables etc I own. I suspect this is just a problem inherent when you have a dozen little tiny wires running through a cable.
Never settle for less!
I have been touring as well as playing in clubs and other venues, and having all my gear perform to its best is important ANYWHERE! Being a Roland GR55 qnd GR 33 user as part of my rig, I need functionality of these pieces of gear to be on point and the 13 pin cable is the brain for these units and if it is not 100%, issues arise such as noise and poor tracking, amongst other bad issues. There are other 13 pin cables available at a lesser price, and what you get is less quality and life of the cable. Trust me the less headaches on a gig the better and with Roland 13 pin cable, you can be worry free and that makes your gig and you better!!!
Awesome!
Love the cord!love Sweetwater!
Great cable!
These 13-pin cables are expensive, but Sweetwater has a great cable at a great price. Not much to tell, it's just a cable, but it's quality and it works great. I'm glad Sweetwater carries them.
An amazing cable!
30 feet of sheer midi guitar bliss. From the elegant molded plastic connectors, to the stark, yet stylish black flexible rubber sheath, this cable has exceeded my expectations. My co-workers, as well as my girlfriend and family have all noticed the effect this cable has had, and it is not subtle. "Did you lose weight?" "Are you working out again?" "You must have just taken a vacation." I hear questions like this on a frequent basis...and when I do, I just wink at them and think to myself "thank you Roland."
Roland GR-55 Cable
The cable is exactly as described. Excellent quality and it works fine.
Great
i think i got it to long but it works great
Only one reliable manufacturer makes these...
Would've been 5 stars but the cost is steep - however, Sweetwater had the lowest price of any of retailer, so I got it here. I would like these cables to have more secure connection to the guitar because the way it is designed, the connector wiggles in the socket and it seems this is what wore out the other two I have...
Essential Equipment
Must have an extra cable for us Roland processing addicts! I abuse every cable and need standbys. The 30' long one is only a few dollars more and allows me to roam about stage a little freer.
Long Long Midi Guitar Cable Guy
This cable is used to connect my midi guitar to the GR 55; in the studio it is almost like having a wireless connection as I can move around without taking off the guitar.
The GR 55 is a great piece! Using it in the studio for nearly everything.
Solid Cable...
It's a cable, what can I say... Definitely works well with my Axon AX100 MKII, which is why I bought it. Found it for a better price on Sweetwater than any other site out there, so props to those guys. Customer service is also second to none by the way, I get more interaction with my "sales engineer" at Sweetwater than I do with the guys at Guitar Center lol.
