Good light bag, check your keyboard measurements.

By Charles E.

I like the bag but I was surprised that it was much smaller than another Gator 61-key bag that I bought earlier from a different seller. The Gator GKB-61 was too small for my Roland Fantom 06. I was able to fit my Yamaha YC61 in it because the YC has very little extra space around the keyboard. The message is check your keyboard dimensions before you order this bag.

Not as tough as expected

By James

Would have been better served with the hard cases. Soft bags are great for the price, but aren't as protective as hard cases.

Just large enough for the PSR-E473

By Donald B.

I was looking for an inexpensive padded case for my new Yamaha PSR-E473 (61 keys). I'm by no means a musician needing a case to go to various gigs, so I was interested in something 'decent' (inexpensive). This case more than qualifies. Sweetwater's Case Finder suggests the GKB-76, but I didn't want the larger case. I physically measured the keyboard and compared it to the GKB-61's dimensions and felt it would work. Well, it's quite tight (but getting easier), so I'm happy with my choice. If you don't mind the extra length of the GKB-76, that one would probably be a better choice for this keyboard for most people.

15 years in the making

By Ernest A. from Wesley Chapel, FL
Music Background: Professional Tea Drinker/Creative & Sound Designer

I was reorganizing my storage with my old touring and gig cases, stands etc and thought I would do a quick review on some things based on how they held up over time. First let me address a reviewers comment on size. First, based on his keyboard being the Jupiter-X its listed as 45" on Rolands website, as you can see thats already going to be an issue. I highly recommend getting your specific keyboards official dimensions. Not all 61 key keyboards fall into the 37"-41" mold. That being said lets jump into my situation as you can see from my title this is something I purchased long ago. I pulled up my purchase history and it was on 10/10/2007 that this was purchased along with a Korg Triton Extreme 61. That keyboard was 43" in length and the internal specs of the case was 42" knowing that there was going to be about 3/4" give on both sides I was ok with this. The build quality of this case as you can see 15 years later was pretty great all things considering. This is what I need anyone looking at the vid and pics to have at the forefront.. my keyboard was just over an inch longer than the internal dimensions so that buldge put excess stress on the sides which you can clearly see from the tearing that developed. If I was to go back in time I would still get the same case and maybe do some slight tweaks to address that issue as well as a couple others that are the weakness of many keyboard gig bags. That major weakness is the side bottom area. When you are walking with your gig bag that front/rear curved section at the bottom is where alot of accidents/contact is made, from stairs, wall edges, loading in and out of vehicles etc etc. I believe this is what damaged the corner of my zipper track. Let me say the zippers are of super great quality and outside that corner zipper track I had no other zipper or zipper track issues. The front pocket is quite ample and I was able to store my damper and expression pedals as well as cables and other small items. The padding inside is quite ample, I added extra padding from my tour cases to protect my keyboard from my heavy pedals. In conclusion Gator built a pretty solid case that held up over the years. It's retired to storage inside my Gator TSA touring cases. However hypothetically, IF I needed to transport my Triton Extreme (yea I still own it) to a studio session well I will feel quite comfortable with it in this 15 year old abused Gator case. Lol thx goodness I won't have to worry about lugging around that 37 lb keyboard ever since Korg created the Triton/TritonExtreme VST and along with a controller keyboard packed in a Mono case traveling is a breeze.

Lasted two years

By John K. from Carlisle, PA
Music Background: 20 year professional

Still in good shape. Doesn't provide much padding at all inside, so I had to add padding myself. Keyboard did sustain some bumps and dents while using this case. Main zipper broke recently on the rounded edge, so it won't close all the way anymore. I wouldn't recommend this for a high end board like my Korg Kronos in terms of requiring 100% protection for your investment.

Perfect for my needs

By GuitarTechnique from Ramsey, NJ
Music Background: Guitarist, ukuleleist, composer, instructor

This is perfect for my 61 key arranger. The interior design of this protective bag/case is very well thought out and wherever you might need to take your keyboard it's safe and it will not move in this case. there are some zipper sections where you can keep music and I keep the music stand for my keyboard in one of those zippered sections. And pedal cable and other electronic cables in another. The reinforcement of the handles is excellent and this is just a perfect bag to protect your keyboard indoors if you don't have it up and available all the time or when you take it out. Great bag. Thanks Gator

Too big for Nord 61 D Electro

By Sweetwater Customer

Great bag, but it was too big on all sides for the Nord Electro 61 D. I exchanged for the Gator 61 Slim bag, which is perfect.

Keyboard Bag

By Stephen S. from Willis, TX
Music Background: Semi-pro

I knew what I was purchasing, the item I wanted was not in stock anywhere, this item meets my basic need of a keyboard bag but I really needed a shoulder strap which this one does not have. Otherwise it is good quality and provides basic protection if you're not moving it a lot.

Great Protection and lightweight

By Jimmy K. from Lordstown, Ohio
Music Background: Pianist, Organist, Musical Arranger

I bought this bag for my Yamaha PSR-S950. I already own the other Gator model with wheels, and thick foam. I wanted something to throw in the back seat of my car. The model with the wheels, although gives more protection, could possible rip my leather seats, so this model fits the ticket perfect. Thank you, as always to my sales engineer, Dave Brow for all the help.

Fits a Roland Juno-6 Perfectly.

By Paul from Milwaukee
Music Background: Synthesizer Enthusiast/Hobbyist

Been searching for years to find a bag or case for my cherished Roland Juno-6 and this isn't an easy synthesizer to find a case for. Finally found this one and couldn't be happier. The length is almost perfect and the width provides enough extra room to accommodate the power cord. I don't gig with it or take it out of the house very often so this will be the perfect storage for it.

Internal Dimensions Not Exactly Correct

By Chris S. from Akron, OH

I really wanted to like this keyboard bag, and I still do! But unfortunately the advertised internal dimensions are not correct. It says it's 43" but it's really more between 41" and 42". I tried fitting my Roland Jupiter X inside, which technically should fit according to the internal dimensions, but no matter how you try it doesn't fit width-wise. I measured my bag at 42" inches. I can see tolerances being close, but being an inch or more off is too much. Probably a better choice to go with the Roland CB-B76 bag instead, which has a listed internal width of 50".

Great Bag But-

By Buddy
Music Background: Solo Keyboardist

I own three of these bags and they get the job done nicely. I bought one about a year ago and was very happy with it. That one gets 5 stars. I bought two more recently and have noticed a change in quality - A small change but a change nonetheless. The handles on the two new ones are flimsy and bend when you lift them loaded. It's not horrible but the sturdy handle just FEELS better.
Just my opinion....

bag

By Sweetwater Customer

its a bag what can I say the quality of the stitching and zippers are great there is plenty of space in the bag for my Akia mpk 261 and then some, its definitely not the protection of a hard case but works great for the part time gigger.

Excellent gig bag

By Sweetwater Customer from CA

This is an excellent bag. Solid, sturdy, lots of room in the storage pocket for cables and stuff, compact, and a plush interior to keep your synth happy and unscratched.

Best Soft Case for the money.

By drilbit from Harrisburg PA

My month long quest for the best keyboard soft case for the money is finally over! It seems there is little middle ground in the Market.... You either get a $50 or less cheap and flimsy zip up cover with no protection, the middle is $170 for a decent Foamy Soft case or the $300 ATA Flight case for Roady-Worthy Pro applications. My local Guitar Center simply didn't have the Gator GKB cases in any store within 500 miles, as usual. We came to Sweetwater online and took a chance and WOW this case is Awesome... For local gigs where you are carrying and loading your own gear (being reasonably careful and not putting anything on top of your keys) this is perfect. Roomy and just deep enough for our Fat Yamaha keyboard, great sturdy big zippers, 2 zip up compartments on front and adequate padding. Plus it is easily light enough to lug your keys by yourself. Thank You Sweetwater for a smokin' deal and FAST delivery...we will be back. PS. Thanks for the free Sweetwater Candy bag you enclosed and the phone call to make sure we were happy! Sweetwater Rocks! :) !!

Roomy

By EJM M. from Spokane, WA
Music Background: Vocals, Keys, Director

I bought this bag to send a keyboard by plane to Ethiopia. I thought it was too big. My friend said it was perfect!. He plans to pack the extra space with plenty of padding for the long trip. We don't yet know if the airline will allow it as a carry-on. Hopefully, it all works out because it's extremely expensive to ship a keyboard there from the US.

Too good for my keyboard!

By Barbara from Stamford, CT

This bag is better than my $250 keyboard deserves! It could fall out of a moving vehicle and probably not be damaged. I used it for the first time the other night, and all my accessories (mic, cords, pedal, power supply, small percussion instruments) all fit easily into the pocket. And it's nice not to have to struggle to fit the keyboard in a bag that's just a little too small, which is what I graduated from. Friends tell me they have Gator bags for other types of equipment and love them.

By Ponepaws from Annapolis MD ( USA )

I was really pleased with the price as well as quality, but I'm not a stranger when it comes to gator.
I have several cases and they're all gator.
I wouldn't settle for nothing less.
I received my case really fast, and the service was great.
I can see being a repeat customer.

Thanks guys.

Good Value

By Gordie from Lansing, Michigan
Music Background: Technical Director

This bag was purchased as a gift for my son to protect a Yamaha PSRE433 61 key keyboard (used as a dorm room keyboard). The bag is well manufactured and would seem to be gig-worthy. Frankly it's a bit oversized for this keyboard but the internal straps hold the keyboard in place securely. The zippers are solid and the external pocket is roomy enough for basic accessories.

This bag is absolutely terrific!!! It is well constructed and padded well all over. I love that Gator even put straps inside to hold the keyboard in place! This bag will no doubt last me some years and my Korg Kronos will be protected gig after gig!!! You will not find a better bang for your buck so do yourself a favor and BUY IT NOW!!! I ordered this case on a Friday and my sales engineer Aaron Rom got this to my door Saturday afternoon!!! Thank you Sweetwater and please continue to carry Gator cases!!!

Very versatile case

By Paul S. from North Little Rock, AR
Music Background: Live bar gigger for decades.

This is the 3rd Gator product I've bought, and I'm very happy with the quality of Gator stuff so far. I've bought other inexpensive soft cases like this, Roadrunner in particular - that weren't nearly as high quality as Gator. The zippers on both of my roadrunner keyboard cases have fallen off, whereas the Gators just keep on going.

This particular case is interesting in that its pouch on the front is extra large. It's large enough to put a microkorg into, making it doubly useful if you have a microkorg. The inside of this case is slightly taller than a lot of other 61-key cases, and that comes in VERY handy for this - you can put a platform onstage stand into it, and there's still room for a keyboard assuming it's not too tall. I can put my Roland A500, a platform case, and a Microkorg, all into this case, and there's still room for a ton of cables and pedals inside. I suspect a Roland A800 would fit just fine with the stand too, as would many of the 61-key controllers (maudio, novation, etc...). I think I could probably fit a compact tripod mic stand+boom in there too.

I only gave it 4.5 stars because I think it needs just a little improvement. I'd like some wheels on it, and I'd like some backpack straps on it. With my stand, A500, and Microkorg in it, the whole thing weighs 40 pounds - not too much to carry on a back.

Gator - add some backpack straps, and/or some wheels!

Review The Gator GKB-61 (61-Key)

By Ronald H. from Farmingdale Maine USA
Music Background: over 50 years of playing music

We were very pleased with the bag. For the price and workmanship we could not have done better. We received it very quickly and the followup from Sweetwatwer was very good. It will do for what we ordered it for we have four keyboards and needed a backup bag for emergencies. Our old bag is getting tired and they don't make it anymore. A friend from the the PSR Tutorial page recommended it and we are pleased with it. Yours truly, Ron & Carol Hall

It needs to be as that synth is very narrow and light, but pricing is all good.

Very nice "bag"

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: music teacher, amateur rock musician

If you are looking for a bag case, this is a great option. Material is sturdy, zippers are heavy-quality, and the exterior pocket has lots of room for music, pedals, etc. My only gripe is that the bag is a bit flimsy…if you want a case that holds its shape, look for something with more foam, or a hard case. That being said, this is a still a great budget case, and protects my keyboard well.

Just what you need

By Andy from Chicago
Music Background: Gigging musician

Just got this today for my new Yamaha MM6. And not only does it fit my keyboard. But there are 2 front pockets for pedals and cords. And they are big enough to throw some sheet music in there as well. The inside is well padded and had padded straps to secure the board in place. The main handles are tough enough to handle a heavier keyboard. And my favorite thing is that is has big heavy duty zippers that don't look like they will break easily. Don't you just hate it when you have to throw something away just cause the zipper breaks. I can even fit my stand in the main area. So now when I gig with my band, I just bring this bag and an amp, and that's it. If you are looking for a no bull case a decent price, this one will do the job. And because I got it through sweetwater I got the darn thing next day with free shipping. (but that's probably cause I live 2 hours away). So if you have a 61 key keyboard and you want to protect it, do yourself a favor and pick this one up.

A great Carrying Bag for our Keyboard

By Robert A. from Gardner, MA (USA)
Music Background: My wife is a 5th and 6th Grade teacher who also teaches music

This bag is very durable. There's no chance for the keyboard to be damaged. It can carry everything, except for the Keyboard Stand, which is understandable. It is a bit heavy with the Keyboard for my wife, who uses it. She is a teacher.

Protect your investment with this bag

By Maxwell from Pittsburgh, PA
Music Background: Hobbyist

I purchased this keyboard bag along with my Casio CTK 6000 from Sweetwater. This bag is quality made, and fits my keyboard perferctly. I was surprised at how big it was, definitely big enough to fit you 61-key keyboard with room to spare. The zipper pockets can hold a lot as well. If you want to protect your keyboard, I would definitely recommend this bag by Gator.

The bag travels well and more. Than serves the purpose for transporting the keyboard. But I must also mention the amazing customer service from Sweetwater! Great bag

By John from Schererville, IN
Music Background: Pro Musician

I really like the bag. It is very sturdyThe only flaw is the velcro immobilization strips inside tend to attach to the lining of the bag when the keyboard is not in the bag. I hope this does not eventually mess up this part of the lining. I love the pouch which is large enough to hold the detachable music stand and my music binder.
