Zoom GHM-1 Guitar Headstock Mount Reviews

Clamping Action-camera Mount with 3-prong Base, Adjustable Platform, and Screw-tensioning Clamp for Attachment to Guitar/Bass Headstocks and Other Flat Surfaces

Capture your best angle by mounting your action camera to the headstock of your guitar or bass, with Zoom's GHM-1 guitar headstock mount. They specifically designed this mount for use with the Zoom Q4/Q4n and Q8 Handy Video Cameras, but Sweetwater recording pros have determined this mount to be stable enough for all lightweight action cameras that use the same style of 3-prong mounting base. In fact, the GHM-1's screw-down clamp lets you secure it firmly to a wider range of flat surfaces than just headstocks, so you can get seriously creative with where you attach your favorite action camera.

May Not Be Complete

By Marian from Florida
Music Background: Guitar student, semi-professional pianist, and organist

I couldn't give this mount 4 full stars b/c for the Zoom Q4n camera which I own, an additional gadget is required. There was no way to attach the headstock mount to the Q4n camera without an ACM-1 Action cam mount adapter. I found this out when I tried to use the mount then was forced to search the Zoom site for a solution. Sweetwater doesn't sell the ACM-1 adapter so I had to buy it from Amazon. There also are some sites which sell both items, ACM-1 and GHM-1, as a package deal.

Also, it wasn't particularly easy to attach the adapter to the headstock mount. The Zoom instructional video was inadequate as well. It didn't display the really necessary step to making them fit together. My husband has a lot of experience with mechanical and electrical gadgets, and he was able to attach the adapter without a problem.

Fortunately the total weight of both the mount and the adapter is light, about 3/4ths of a pound so it doesn't add a lot of weight to the guitar. I think it would be great if Sweetwater sold both the headstock mount and the adapter, perhaps as a package deal.

Zoom Headstock Mount

By Steve L. from Florida
Music Background: 80s Guitarist

This product is metal and has a nice feel to it. That having been said, between the weight of the mount and the Zoom Q8, it does not grip the headstock of the guitar well enough to stay where you need it to. While there is rubber to protect the headstock on the clamp, over tightening still seems as though it could cause a blemish on the guitar and, the tightening nut is only plastic. Additionally, while not a biggie, the bolt for the action mount uses a plastic spacer that was broken upon opening. This was not an issue for me as I was able to substitute for this with a spare from another mount. I will give it a few more tries but my initial impression is this product should make a few design changes.

Only one gripe..

By Jaime from Michigan
Music Background: Touring Musician

I know it's probably not possible to isolate the threads on the middle set screw, but...the design would be much better if the set screw did not touch the head stock at all. As a result, this did scratch my head stock. Simple fix, place a small piece of cloth around that screw. Might not be a problem for anyone but me but it happened and needs to be said. Other than that, easy to use and works as expected!

Nice Accessory for the Q8

By Cruz S. from San Antonio, TX

I have this paired with the Zoom Q8 camera. Works great for my guitar playthroughs that I work on at home. Also won't ruin the guitar finish. However, I wouldn't use it on stage. I like to move around a lot & there's a good chance it would fall off.
