Combination Seat and Guitar Stand with Padded Removable Backrest and Foam Guitar Cradle

Sweetwater is glad to have Gator as a nearby neighbor, but even more so as a trusted manufacturer, since their products have become synonymous with rugged durability, reliability, and innovation in the music equipment and audio-visual world. The Gator Frameworks Guitar Seat/Stand Combo is no exception, with its foldable design, seat-front microsuede guitar neck rest, 300 lb. capacity, and removable backrest. The stool is made of strong tubular steel and incorporates a crossbar footrest and a flip-up guitar cradle with soft, finish-friendly padding. Its no-slip rubber feet have removable red rings for safer stage navigation, and the padded seat cushion and backrest are comfortable for long shows or sessions.

Nice guitar “stand”

By Sweetwater Customer

I'd give it one star if it couldn't be used, but it is OK as a stand. For performing seated with a guitar it's not comfortable as a stool. I'm 5'-10" imo. I threw mine out because it just didn't work. The back rest has some adjustment to a degree but it forces you forward in an awkward seating position. The back and seat offer little comfort. It's a cool design but not executed well. A padded bar stool is all you need.

Worth the price.

By Robert D. from NEW EGYPT, NJ

The Gator GFW-GTR seat was super easy to put together. Its just 2 screws that are already in place and just need to be tightened depending on how high you would like the backrest. Its very solid and is made with quality components. The seat is light and very portable. The backrest is a game changer for the old players out there and those with bad backs (I am both). The only negative is the seat isnt soft....at all. I personally dont think a guitar seat should be TOO SOFT, but maybe just a little would be nice. I'm happy with the purchase and would buy it again.

Gator playing stool

By Steve from Central Florida
Music Background: Semi retired pro.

I'm holding off on a 5 star rating until I've had it a while to see how it holds up. Overall it's comfortable and easy to travel with. One of my basses is a Jazz and it's asymmetrical design doesn't sit in the stand without some leaning though the indentation helps.
As always, Dave Brown gave me a good recommendation. You can't go wrong with your trusty sales engineer, and now friend, at Sweetwater.

Comfortable and solid

By Tom from Maryland
Music Background: Regular performer in local band and also individual

The chair is more sturdy and solid than I expected from the pictures, and the padding is thicker. Having the guitar stand function in the front instead of a hangar in the back also makes it more stable. I use it as a guitar stand and then during performances as a way to take a quick break to rest my back. Excellent value for the money.

Gator Frameworks Guitar Seat/Guitar Stand

By Sweetwater Customer

I purchased this for my husband and he just loves it. It is comfortable, good height and loves the guitar stand part. Very handy. Decent price and arrived quickly and easy to assemble. A friend that he practices with was jealous as when he bought his seat, they didn't have the back option. Very comfortable to just sitback and relax and strum the guitar. Couldn't ask for more. Thanks so much!

not for me

By Sweetwater Customer from Ashland, OH

I was hopeful that this might be a useful chair for live gigs. It is not for me. My guitars don't fit on the stand as the bottom of the neck hits the seat of the chair so the guitar is unstable. The chair isn't very sturdy but for the price that's expected. Through no fault of Sweetwater it arrived damaged, the retention bolt top was broken off. Sweetwater quickly arranged a return and refund. This chair might work for you, it just didn't for me.

Poorly designed, poorly made

By David from NW Missouri
Music Background: Singer-Songwriter

When I heard of this, I initially thought it was a great idea--a seat with a built in guitar stand. Then I bought two and found them to be a disappointment. Let's list all the pros and cons:
Pros:
It combines a guitar stand and stool.
Cons:
The seat is uncomfortable.
The back rest is worthless.
The guitar stand rests get in the way of the foot rest and create a safety hazard.
The weight capacity it supports indicate it is not sturdy. When I first purchased it -- they claimed it supported up to 300 pounds. I weigh 240 pounds so it shouldn't be a problem, right? A weld popped the first time I put my foot on the rest.
As folding footstools go, it's overpriced. Basically people are paying for the brand name.
I purchased two folding stools of another brand from another vendor with a capacity of 450 pounds each. Those replacements cost less than one of these, are sturdier and more comfortable--with less risk of injury from tripping over the useless guitar rests.

Needs design changes

By Randy K. from Indiana
Music Background: 50+ years of 50+ gigs/year lots of styles

I have used mine for several years of multiple gigs per week. In my opinion it has 2 major design flaws. 1st the rubber feet lasted about 3 gigs before the sharp ends of the tubing cut through the bottom of them rendering them useless. They need to put metal tube caps on under those rubber feet. I had one instance hosting an open mic where the guitar cord got under the leg and the sharp end cut the cord clean off when the guy sat down. 2nd the bottom of the flip down guitar stand flips down a lot during use and catches on the top of my shoes or pant legs. I tried reversing the seat back and that somewhat solved that problem but then the whole thing no longer folds up for transport and back hast to be removed every time. P.S. I am 6'5" 270# other than these 2 issues and that it could used a lot more padding on the seat it works great.

Welds Broke

By James P. from Appleton, WI

Gator Frameworks

By JOSEPH R. from Citrus Springs, FL
Music Background: Many years a player guitar bass and instrument repairs.

Received this guitar stool today and couldn't be happier. I purchased an open box product and it was in very good almost perfect condition. Very comfortable I'm 5 ft 10 and thought the 27" seat height might be too high but turns out it's perfect for long practice sessions and easy to transport and store away. The guitar holder works as it should and keep my guitar secure when I'm away from it. It's a very nice product for the money and well worth the investment. I would buy it again and highly recommend this stool. Once again Sweetwater comes through as always in the years of purchasing from them I've never been disappointed.

Great concept that slightly falls short

By Ken D. from West Virginia/Colorado
Music Background: Performer/Songwriter/Studio Owner/Producer/Engineer/Radio Station

I purchase this chair as a way to always have my guitar out within easy reach any time inspiration appeared to even play for five or 10 minutes. We love the concept of the chair and guitar stand in one. Brilliant! However, for my frame, I believe one size fits all it's not quite right. The chair fits me slightly better than my wife who is a bit shorter. It is certainly sturdy enough and that is not the issue. This chair does not fit all guitars equally. It certainly holds my Stratocaster fine, but my larger acoustic guitars are not held quite a securely. That's a downside. The chair itself does not provide natura-fitl comfort. That said, I'm glad we have it as my instrument is now easily accessible. I think it will fit well in my studio for others to use as a seating/playing option. I am going to look at a different chair that Sweetwater offers as perhaps a more comfortable option.

Good Idea but...

By Sweetwater Customer from Asheville NC
Music Background: Jazz singer/guitarist

I've had this chair/stand for a while and I do 3-4 gigs a week. I weigh 200 lbs and I have to sit because of a disability. The issue with this design is the cheap steel that goes into the locking mechanism under the seat. The idea is right but the quality is not. Over time it has worn significantly to the point where the pull-pin mechanism does not function properly. I have to retire this chair now because it's going to fail soon. While the price is ok and I love the built-in guitar stand, it might make sense to look at sturdier options.

A great concept

By David from NW Missouri
Music Background: Singer-songwriter

I like this idea and have two of them. Instead of having to lug around a stool and a guitar stand, I only have to pack one item for the gig.
Also, being a heavier person, I appreciate the fact that this is built to support weights of over 250 pounds.
The only feature this lacks is a means for securing the neck of the instrument when using the guitar stand feature--if it had such a feature it would merit five stars.

Ergonomic design by a Moron

By Tim from Somis, CA
Music Background: Semi pro

I've owned mine for almost 2 years. I am also a luthier and comfortable with my shop of tools.
I'm 5' 8", 140 lbs. I think the seat and back padding is excellent, as is the relationship from seat to footrest,
BUT!!!! I had to cut 2 1/2" off all 4 legs so I can rest my feet on the ground sitting when I want and made dramatic changes in the backrest support because it sits too high and doesn't go back far enough. I also made the footrest wider and dramatically more ergonomic. More than 45 minutes on it, my feet would really hurt for hours afterwards.
I also removed the guitar stand and use one of better design.
After modification to fit me, it's actually comfy for a 3 hour gig!!

A great seat if you can modify it to fit, but otherwise, the guy who designed this probably is some really strange looking very
tall skinny guy. Possibly an anorexic Herman Munster....
Honestly, they should redesign it to fit a more average build of human.

Gator Guitar seat

By Sweetwater Customer from CA

I've had the seat for a few weeks now and after a few mods I like it! The seat is well padded and sturdy. I found the guitar stand in the way while playing since it folds into the footrest and there's no enough room for my feet, so I removed it. (easy to do, just pull one of the cotter pins) The back rest is a great feature except the height of the pad was way too high for a comfortable support. I pulled out the bolt and used a clamp to get the height where I liked it, then drilled a 5/16" hole through the support and mounted the back rest at a lower height. I've used it a one gig so far and definitely felt comfortable on it. We'll have see how the metal work and upholstery hold s up over time, but I'm happy so far.

Gator Framework Guitar Seat/Stand

By Mike S. from Innsbrook, MO
Music Background: Currently own 8 guitars and play in a trio.

Like the Guitar seat and backrest. Good height and comfortable with one foot on the brace. However, guitar stand could use improvement. The plastic inserts at the top end of stand put a scratch in my Martin guitar (not happy) so that is a poor patent for what could be a very practical piece of equipment.

Seat is too small

By JR from San Jose, CA

I'm 6', weigh 185. Even though you can adjust the back on this chair so you can sit back a little further, I found the seat to be too small. Additionally, there is no place to comfortably rest your leg when playing. So, I never felt comfortable or relaxed when playing while sitting in this chair and I've gone back to using the old tried and true bar stool.

December 6, 2021

Garbage

By Larry L. from Columbia, MO

This thing is poorly designed. It has the virtually worthless guitar stand that is nearly impossible to remove and totally blocks the foot rest when its up- so your option is either not have access to the foot rest or fold the stand down and risk tripping on it if you forget about it and stand up. All that for a crummy stand I would never trust to hold my guitar. What were they thinking? The cheap hardware on the upper part of the chair BROKE while I was trying to pry the ridiculous prongs off that worthless guitar stand and now the whole thing is unusable. Cheap garbage.

September 20, 2021

Stains light colored necks

By Aaron from Omaha

The stand left black stain where the guitar neck rests against it. This is a polyurethane finished fender acoustic guitar. I have had the stand for 2 months and just noticed this. The stand seems to be built well but I never use it because it is very uncomfortable. I am 6ft tall and this thing just does not fit my body. It is too tall to sit in with out a foot rest, but the foot rest that is built-in is blocked by the guitar hooks. If i could return this still I would. This is the most expensive stand i have ever purchased and it is by far the worst. I can't use it to sit on, and it damages guitars that are rested on it. Looks like $ in the garbage.

It's sturdy

By Rosetta C.

I like it, it's comfortable and tack back will adjust so you are not leaning to far forward. I think it is built well except for where the back the guitar lays on the metal top part of the legs, for an acoustic guitar anyway. I wrapped an bandana around the top later I will buy some micro cloth a line each leg. Other then that it's a good chair, maybe they will tweak it. Here you can see with and with out.

Great for my home studio

By Ruben R. from Oakland California
Music Background: Former audio engineer/ lifetime musician

This is a great chair for my studio as it is functional as well as flexible. I wanted it because I can sit for hours recording bass or guitar tracks. It also acts as a stand for my bass or guitars. I was pleased to discover it was at the perfect height where I can turn around and play keyboards as well. It takes up minimal space and is very sturdy and well constructed. It helps with my posture and helps me sit up straight as I play. I reccomend this for anyone who plays bass or guitar.

Big Upgrade

By Sweetwater Customer

I use this at home for daily guitar practice. It was a big upgrade from the folding chair I was using. If I could change one thing I would have the back rest fold flat with the rest of the stool. It's great how the seat and legs fold flat but the back rest does not. It can be removed but it is an akward shape and does not store easily like the rest of the stool.

June 26, 2021

OK seat

By Bob from CA

Overall ok but not great.

Quality, except as noted Re guitar stand below, is ok for the price.

I use a folding stool instead of the built in stool which doesn't suit me- it's small and not positioned where I'd like. This is ok since I only use it at home.

The guitar stand on mine wouldn't hold a dreadnought acoustic without the guitar making contact with the chair's frame (body of guitar contacts chair frame before the neck rests in the seat "cut out") . The guitar wouldn't rest properly in the padded arms either. This may just be a quality control issue and, if not, may not affect thinner bodied guitars. Took it apart and bent the arms 1-1/2" down (stopped when the welds started complaining). Still doesn't sit quite right in the arms but the guitar body no longer hits the metal frame. You should check your guitars(s) for how they sit to make sure you don't scratch your guitars finish.

Comfort Gear

By Dennis S.

I am having issues with arthritis and standing for an extended period while playing my P-bass is becoming very uncomfortable. My search for a solution began. I wanted a portable, high guitar stool that didn't take up a lot of stage real estate, had a back rest, and wasn't too heavy. A helpful Sweetwater sales engineer suggested the Gator Frameworks GFW-GTR-SEAT Combination Guitar Seat / Single Guitar Stand.

The stool arrived well packaged with the much anticipated Sweetwater sweets. It requires minimal assembly of three pieces once out of the protective packaging. Once assembled there are two main pieces to the chair. The main stool folds relatively flat and the back rest can be removed for transport. The stool can be used with or without the back rest. The guitar holder located at the foot rest area can be folded up and out of the way.

I used the stool yesterday for four hours for the first time. It worked well for me. The description states that it is 48" high but I believe that is the overall height. The seat was at a normal stool height. The seat is a bit firm but is still comfortable. The back rest adjusts in and out for length. Once adjusted, the back rest was a very welcome feature. The stool was stable to sit on and I didn't feel tippy. An added safety feature is a spring loaded locking pin to keep the stool from folding up on you. The built-in guitar holder is nice too. It held my P-bass but also holds my big body 34" scale acoustic Stonebridge bass.

I did not give this 5 stars for a couple of reasons. The back rest is a separate piece and does not fold into the stool for transport. I would prefer a design that incorporated that back rest into the stool. Again, you can remove the back if you don't require it. Also, as handy as the guitar holder is and the fact that it does fold up, the holder can get into the way of your feet if you forget to fold it up before sitting.

I believe it is a good value for the money and recommend it to make those extended playing sessions more comfortable.

Great Guitar Stool

By RIC37012 from PA

Stool is high enough which make it comfortable for me. The seat is firm but comfortable. The nice feature is the ability to remove the backrest if you don't need to use it. The built in guitar stand will hold my bass which allows me to eliminate a standard stand. The only thing I wish it had was a deeper inset on the seat where the neck ofnthe guitar rests. Other than that it's a great seat.

By Tim from Somis, CA

Just bought one. I'm 5' 8". Pretty average! My feet were inches above the floor sitting on it, although the footrest is placed perfectly. Using a tubing cutter, I cut 2 1/2" of the legs, replaced the rubber feet and now it's exactly as I wanted.

The overall quality is excellent, especially at this price! But they need to sell shorter ones!!!
My violinist girlfriend loved it and would buy one, but even shortened, it's still too tall for her.

By Chelli from Waynedale
Music Background: Beginner guitar

The attached stand fits both electric and acoustic guitars. My only real issue is that I need a stool to put my foot on because the chair is too tall for me. I also kind of wish the back piece folded. It's easily removed for storage, but folding like the rest of the chair would be better. It's very solid. It's small space friendly. Collapses easily for storage or just getting it out of the way. I'm very happy with it.

Sturdy & Well-Built; but TOO TALL...

By Sweetwater Customer

This is a really great idea, and they pull it off very well. The frame is nice & strong; you don't feel like it will fall apart if you put too much weight on it. The seat is very comfortable and well padded.

My only issue with this thing is that it's too tall. If all I have to do is sit on it and play, it's great, but there is no way to be sitting comfortably on it, and also be able to reach foot pedals (FX, looper, etc). A friend got one of these and cut an inch off the legs; I had him do likewise to mine, and it's still a bit high. I considered having him cut a bit more off, but then the guitar holder is dragging on the ground.

So there's my 2¢. Great stool, but it would work better for me if it was 2-3" shorter.

Good product

By Sweetwater Customer

This chair is a nice solid chair and works for my situation. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, is that it's height is not adjustable, nor is the footrest. I'm 5'7", so it's a tad high for my short legs. But quality-wise, no complaints.

By Sweetwater Customer

I like the stool, right height, seems sturdy, the guitar stand could be a plus for some, but I have other plans for that, as in foot rest.
Folds compactly, easy to transport.
The seat is a little small, but I'm a big guy so others may find the seat to be just right.

Overall glad I bought it, will be using it.

Excellent choice

By Michael L.

In order to create that "V" shape when playing while sitting, you need a seat like this to allow you the freedom to move to a proper position. It's difficult to do on a dining room chair and impossible to do so while sitting on a sofa. This chair does exactly that. It is to tall, even at 6'2" tall I need to cut it down a couple inches to make it comfortable. That was easily accomplished with a hacksaw and a file.

Quality Item - not adjustable

By Michael L. from TN

This is a good piece of equipment and I will use it. It is really sturdy, you could probably stand an elephant on it. Comfortable but firm padding. It is bar stool height. Only thing is that it's about 2 inches higher than I would like for my comfort level and it's not adjustable. I also ordered the foot stand to go with it and that does help.

Gfw-gtr seat

By Chuck C. from Florida
Music Background: 50 plus yrs of fiddling...on guitar.

Seat is solid and seems to be well made, however the rung you rest your foot on is to small for both feet, and it's to low so the guitar slides down your knee. So now you're fingering, picking and trying to keep the guitar on your lap at the same time. Not a good practice tool, also the footrest isn't padded so if you play at home with no shoes on very uncomfortable. I'm sending it back.
P.S. Christian Baer my Sweetwater tech is the best and I am a Sweetwater customer for life.

Awesome seat for my seat

By Audrey P. from Everett, WA
Music Background: Wanna-be rocker...yes, still.

A friend has something similar, but with wooden seat and backrest. Nice, but no thank you. We sit and or stand at our performances. At my age (70), standing for several hours doesn't bode well for my feet and legs. Sitting restricts my singing. This offers the best of both. And when I get up from sitting, it has a built in guitar stand. My only gripe is that the back doesn't fold down, and is a bit awkward to transport. No biggie, but then, most gripes aren't big deals. Merely a minor annoyance. Still like the chair/stand.

Not Happy! Seat back broke off at Church!

By Sweetwater Customer from OH

Bought one of these to use at Church. Leaned back a little and the whole back came off. Looked further and saw the seat was made out of kinda of a particle board, but looked and felt more like cardboard the way it crumbled. Of course this stopped the service and we kinda made a joke of it, but it was embarrassing.

The seat is great I only had a couple comfort issues. for a guy with a 32 in inseam the stool is a little tall and the heel rest is a bit low. The quality is fantastic!

this is what I would have designed for myself

By Manny G. from Murrieta, CA, USA
Music Background: retired but still giging

I got tired of sitting in whatever kind of chair the venue had on site, especially when they brought me ones that had arms!. Tried a recycled bar stool but it was too high and the bar for my feet wasn't high enough, and had to use a guitar stand, and it took up way too much room in the gig mobile. I found this quite by accident; I still take a guitar stand on stage with me (sometimes I have more than one guitar with me) but the built in stand on this is perfect. I'm no small guy @ 6'-1" and 250# and it handles my size just fine. I'm 50/50 on the backrest; sometimes I use it and sometimes I don't, otherwise this is what I would have designed for myself. Nicely made and finished, it fold up flat and fits on top of the PA gear cart when we're loading in/out. Great value at the regular price and even better with the Sweetwater discount! Highly recommended.............mgg

Awkward playing position

By Walt from Pittsburgh, PA
Music Background: professional musician over 50 years

As a 4-string banjo player, I require a level lap to cradle the instrument; the foot bar is too low and has only room for one foot. The stand feature was just unnecessary for my purpose. I returned the stool next day.

A Pretty Nice Stool

By Jack W. from Champaign IL
Music Background: Played bass on and off since 1965

I like the portability of this Gator stool, but do wish it's backrest was a bit more adjustable. Would love it if the angel were adjustable and the lower arm would go back a but further (I'm a big guy). The built in guitar rest is genius though. One more piece of equipment I don't have to haul. Also lighter than the last stool I used to take to gigs.

Great quality and comfort

By Brandon a.

Love the stools! Nice to have a consistent height and feel for different venues and gigs and they transport fairly easily. Not too much of a hassle taking the back off. We sit on them for hours and never get sore. Though we haven’t really used the stand feature, it is a cool idea and seems to be very functional. I would recommend putting a dab of superglue inside each of the 2 plastic end caps on the fold down stand portion. They come off easily. Luckily we always saw them laying on the stage at the end of gigs. Pull them off, drip in glue, and put back on- that seems to have done the trick. Otherwise we have had great luck with all of the Gator Frameworks products we have purchased thus far.

Not the best

By Daniel F. from Kentucky

Good idea..but..just not a good seat to sit on.It is small and not very comfortable at all..practically no room to put your feet when playing a instrument. I gave it a 1.5 ☆ rating because it is something to sit on...but definitely not good for playing guitar.

Guitar stool

By Dwayne F. from Georgia
Music Background: 20 year livingroom and Worship house guitarist.

This is a nice seat. It is
Sturdy enough to hold my 6'4 260 lbs body easily and comfy for long sessions. It also holds the guitar well when not being used. The only issue for me is the footrest is not high enough to get my knee up where I like it. As always Sweetwater has great service.

A lot more comfortable!

By Dan K. from California
Music Background: On the night shift since 1965

It's a lot more comfortable than anything else I've been using! That being said, it could use some more padding on the seat! By the time you've played a whole set, it gets a little rough. The guitar stand part of the thing is kind of a waste. There's not much of a notch to put the neck of the guitar in, so at best it's a balancing act, and I think way too much of my guitars to be screwing around with something that's going to be getting me into a train wreck! The bottom of the guitar stand is sized for an acoustic, so most electrics fit into it like a B.B. in a box car. The back rest is kind of springy, and I like that. If you have a bad back, you will too! The height is good, but it could probably use some sort of foot rest, which I would much rather have than a guitar stand that guarantees a repair job to anything you might put in it. It's sturdy enough, I don't see any issues there, and I expect it will pass the test of time. The bottom line is it's at least as good as anything I've seen, and better than most, so yes, I do recommend it!

Great gig stool

By Billy from Nashville, TN

Looks good on stage. Good padding. Folds up easy to Transport but you have to remove the back. The guitar supports at the bottom fold up out of the way when not needed. Not much room to put your feet on while playing.

Could be so much better: here's how

By A K. from AZ

On the plus side, this is a well made accessory. On the down side, it was very poorly designed although with some changes it can be made usable; however, at this price, it should work straight out of the box.

Although I am 5-10, I found it impossible to actually sit down and have my feet on the floor without then watching the guitar slide down my thighs. So with a friend we redesigned the stool so that it now has a ledge on which my feet rest.

[I've tried to insert a photo here but the review section doesn't seem to accept them]

While we were working we moved the stand to the side so that the stool and the stand can be used simultaneously. You will have to take my word that it now looks better and can actually be used!

Gator Frameworks GFW-GTR-SEAT - Guitar Seat/Stand Combo

By Sam C.
Music Background: acoustic player

Seat works well, easy to transport. I tried the back rest and it doesn't work for me. I keep it in the basement but I might to use it someday.

Happy with the quality of the product. Easier to sing using the stool then sitting. And you can stand and only have to adjust the mic a little bit.

Poor quality

By Donnie D. from Georgia

Had about 6 months and back rest ripped off when I leaned back. 2 screws connect it to the bottom via cheap particle board. Serves as a stool now with guitar stand but for $... not worth it. Also the height is not adjustable. I am 6'1" and really would like to be a little closer to the floor. Good concept but needs to 1) be made with better quality materials and 2) be height adjustable and it might be a winner!

Decent solution to finding a good playing stool...

By Phil from Boca Raton
Music Background: Jazz

Clever combination of functionalities. Seems sturdy, but light. Puts you in a very upright position, which is probably orthopedic-ally good but may take some getting used to...particularly for us old fossil jazzers who like to collapse over our archtops!

Nice

Love the chair, one less thing to carry on stage with the seat and stand combined. As a guitar player I do wish for a better foot rest. That's the only reason for not giving a 5 star

Works for me!

By Sweetwater Customer

I have tried (bought) four different seat/stools for playing on the street. This one wins for me. It is light, folds up easily, and is more comfortable than the others. That is not to describe it as a "Lazy Boy," however.
I take off the back (easy) for street playing transport and I use the guitar stand feature.

Well worth the money for me.

Great Addition to my Equipment

By Lou R. from Carlsbad, California

The Seat!

By Ernie from Central Florida
Music Background: Semi Pro for 40 plus years

I ordered this seat because I recently had back surgery. I almost always stand up at my gigs, but I was still under restrictions on my activity. I had a strictly acoustic gig coming up so I got this chair to use. It is not heavy, but it is a little clumsy to carry around. It has good back support and can be adjusted to your comfort level. The seat is well padded, but a little small. I'm not a big person, so I imagine if it seems small for a guy like me, it would seem really small for some bigger people. The height is good and the added guitar stand works fine. It tucks out of the way while you are sitting down. There is a small rail to rest your feet on but I had a hard time finding room for both feet. I have it set up in my studio and use it to practice. In order to make best use of the backrest I use a guitar strap. I gave it 4 stars because of the small seat and foot rail.

Guitarist/Bassist Stool

By D I. from Phoenix, AZ
Music Background: Performing & Recording Artist

I found this stool to not only be very comfortable but very sturdy and well-made in design. The seat cushion is firm but pliable making it comfortable to sit on, while the backrest gives more than ample support that is adjustable. The guitar stand is strong enough to support the weight of any one of my 5-string solid body bases yet also wide enough to accommodate my acoustic electric Bass. Felt padding has been added to the front edge of the seat to ensure the back of the neck to your axe never gets scratched as well. The ability to remove the backrest and fold the chair makes this very convenient for putting it away in your home or stowing it in your vehicle for a gig. Finally a stool for the gigging musician, great product and highly recommended!

Just what I wanted

By LA from Maryland
Music Background: professional

A very comfortable seat. I weigh just under 220 lbs., and it supports me very well. I haven't used the stand part yet and I've only had it few weeks, so that is why I only gave it four stars. I would definitely buy again.

Almost Perfect

By David P. from Hanover, Md
Music Background: 40+ years experience

Pros:
I love this combo Seat/Stand concept. The chair is comfortable, sturdy, with an adequate foot rest, and won't get in the way when you play.
Con:
The foot rest could be beefier for us big guys. If you have your foot on the rest you'll bend it if push against it to reposition yourself on the seat.
Also, the cradle design for the guitar/bass stand should be
revamped to securely hold (in my case) a JBass/PBass body style. The stands 2 prong cradle design won't allow my bass to sit in the center of the prongs without the bass leaning to one side (left or right of the seat front). That, it turn, doesn't allow the neck of the bass to sit within the indentation on the front of the seat. You probably wouldn't have this problem with an acoustic.
Widening the distance between the prongs helps, but then they won't latch properly when they're flipped up (so as not to be in the way when the stand is not in use).
All in all I like the chair.
I'm going to try some DIY remedies to see if I can make it work.
I'll post the remedy that works.

Gift for guitarist

By KHaley from Cincinnati

I was looking for a last minute Holiday gift for our adult musician son and came across the Sweetwater website. Found two items that were practical (guitar tuner) yet unique (guitar seat/stool/stand with back). Took a chance ordering late night only 3-4 days prior to holiday. Ordered at 11:30 pm and immediately had confirmation of order/ship date etc. at 8:30 am the very next morning I missed a telephone call so checked voicemail and could not believe it was Anthony from Sweetwater Sound leaving a personal message telling me both items in stock and shipping out that day! I was AMAZED at the personal contact/call! Needless to say, the gift arrived safely within 3 days of purchase during likely a very busy time for them! Our son loved the guitar seat/Stand combo - has had lots of equipment/accessories and said - I have never seen one like this! Loved the tuner as well! Pricing seemed very reasonable and very pleased - great first experience with them and would highly recommend!

Decent could be better

Im 5' 7" and this is a little high but wouldn't be a problem if there was someplace to put my feet. If there was a bar or something to rest my feet on Id love this. Instead I get a small box and place it where my feet can rest on it. Otherwise comfortable/functional..

Great chair!

By Jason H.

Well built and good for practice and preforming. Feels really good to lean back on the rest now and then while playing and not be stuck in one position too long. And an unexpected bonus is the guitar rest keeps my Takamine out of the case and in sight, to where I want to play it more often.

Great space saver

By Sweetwater Customer

Have used it several times now. It seems to be holding up well. My friends and I are all in the heavyweight division, and two other fellows who have used it are likely to order their own. We average about 230lbs and it has held us up comfortably with no issues.

Poor Ergonomics - I returned the unit

By Tom P. from South Joisey
Music Background: Pro

When playing an acoustic guitar the chair does not afford any comfortable playing position/angle of the guitar. I adjusted the backrest several times and realized no matter how it was adjusted it just felt wrong to me. Perhaps for a very slender tall person it would work. I am 5'9" and weigh 200lbs.

Great performance chair

By Kevin from Louisville
Music Background: Professional

Sits comfortable and is exactly what I needed for my solo-acoustic gigs. Can't depend on these venues to have what you need so I always pack everything. What one place has the 1st or 2nd time you play there, doesn't mean it will be there the 3rd time you arrive. Plus the stand is convenient, for a short term step away. If you're going to be away from the stage for a break, invest in a real guitar stand.
