nice easily stored stands at a good price

By Debra W. from LANCASTER, CA
Music Background: Dabbler

I've got I think 5 of these stands now and I really like them. They're easy to take part and fold up, and sturdy enough to be trustworthy while holding my guitars and banjo. Really easy to adjust the height of the neck rest too.

Ergonomically Perfect

By Paul P. from HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, AR
Music Background: Retired Professional Musician

Purchase this guitar stand for my new Les Paul. It has a neck support that is adjustable hight, in addition, there is a strap to help secure the neck in the stand. Collapsible tri-legged feet, makes the stand portability much better that my previous one. Great product!

Junk

By Andrew F. from Grants Pass, OR

As many other reviews say… it's a really poor design. The cradle rotates and is always upside down when you go to set your guitar in it. Really irritating to flip back over and could easily make you drop your guitar if you were paying attention.

Hate to complain since I got it free with a strap but I wouldn't want anyone to spend money on this.

A sturdy stand. Holds my Warwick bass nicely. And priced right.

Good Value

By Timothy S. from PORT CHARLOTTE, FL

I probably have about 9 or 10 of these stands. Both singles and triples. They are very reasonable to purchase. Decent quality. Provide easy access to your guitar while displaying it nicely. The rubber band at the top helps prevent the guitar from being accidentally knocked onto the floor. The wide base also helps prevent the guitar from being knocked over. Everything folds up and breaks down for transport when using it on the road. Well cushioned to prevent damage to your guitar. Adjustable height to fit most guitars. I have Classicals, several sized Acoustics, Electrics, even a Cuban Tres guitar and this stand works with all of them.
Much better system than hanging guitars on the wall or putting them in a rack. Safer too.
Perfect for small rooms with one or two guitars. For guitar hoarders like myself, with a double digit guitar collection, having 10 or more stands takes up a lot of room. But so does owning almost 30 guitars. The stand does come in a triple guitar version, which I have several of, and this helps. Either way, a good value.

Junk

By Sweetwater Customer

Lasted two years of holding up a guitar in my living room. The tightening bolt assembly that adjusts the height came completely off - no way to fix it. Don't bother .

Lower rest problem

By Bas

The lower rest of this guitar stand is only holding your guitar in one position. Since it easily turns 360 degrees you have to check the position of the lower rest every time you place the guitar in the stand because when the rest is up side down your guitar glides off the stand. The lower rest suffers from a poor design.

Flawed Design

By Tom B. from Denton, TX

I hate to give a bad review to a freebie but... Just in case anyone is looking to spend money on a guitar stand this is not the droid you are looking for.

It looks like it could be a really good stand. But it isn't because of the adjustment knob. As I put the stand together and began tightening the knob the plastic gave way and the knob broke. Now this stand is a doorstop and cannot perform the function (holding up a guitar) that it was designed to do.

Good Basic Stand

By Jason C. from Springdale, AR
Music Background: Recent convert to bass. It’s what I should have been doing all these many years!

Nothing much to say. It does what it's supposed to do, and it's extremely affordable. I think these Gator brand stands are a little nicer and sturdier than some of the ones I've used in the past. I've got a couple of them, and they have held up well. I will say, the bottom arm (the part that holds the body of the instrument) spins a bit too freely at times. If it gets jostled, you might have to flick it back around. I think I stuffed a bit of tissue in one of mine, or maybe I wrapped the metal insert with a piece of tape before reinserting it so it would be a little more stable. It's no big deal, but a fair review would have to take that into account and say (for me) it's a 4-star product: not perfect but perfectly functional.
Sweetwater was able to give me a free one recently as part of a promotional deal (with my Levy's strap purchase), so that was cool! I like to support my local music stores, but when I want something special I know where to go online for a good deal and great customer service!

Frameworks GFW-GTR-100 Single Guitar Stand

By Debbie B. from ARNOLD, NE
Music Background: New to guitar

We purchased this stand to go with our son's 1st electric guitar. The stands legs are stable. It is too much at an upright angle, not leaned back enough to feel safe. The major drawback is the cradle rotates 360 degrees. It moved on its own, one peg under guitar and one on the left side. We do not feel it very trustworthy for his new Squire Stratocaster. The strap across the neck is good. We will keep for my ukulele. We ordered him a new different stand, Ultimate Support GS200+ with locking legs & cradle. We tried to go budget, and decided that wasn't quite a good idea. Hope the new stand will be much better for him. I think this will be great for my Uke though and needed a stand for it anyway.

Poor design

By Sweetwater Customer

As many others mentioned, center of the gravity of the bottom piece that guitar sits on, is not ideal. The bottom piece flips upside down constantly, and it is extremely frustrating to use. I would not recommend this stand.

Poor design

By Andrew G. from LEAF RIVER, IL

This came to me as a buy this and get a stand. The base the guitar body rests on flips upside down automatically. This makes for awkward use. I don't like this stand and I would not recommend it. I'm sorry Sweetwater.

Not good / very flimsy

By arturo v. from Graham, NC

This is honestly one of the worst stands I've ever had the part that actually holds the instrument always spins around and never stays in place not to mention it dropped my brand new Ibanez bass

June 25, 2022

Acceptable for the price but not the best

By William W. from Friendswood, TX

Honestly, I don't like this stand. It's not as stable as any of my other stands (including Amazon Basics ones) due to how light it is. A light bump can send it over.

It keeps an electric guitar nearly straight upright, even with the neck retention lowered way down which adds to the unstable nature.

The rotating cradle at the bottom is supposed to be a perk, but I really dislike it as it rotates upside down *every single time* so when I go to set my guitar back in it, I have to reach down and rotate the cradle.

A bit more weight down low to keep the center of gravity down, a higher angle for the guitar, and a set screw to adjust the rotation of the cradle would make this 10 times better.

Nicer than I expected

By Billy from Norfolk, VA

I shouldn't have been surprised because Gator makes some great products. This was much nicer than I expected. Makes my On Stage brand stand feel like a piece of junk.

Firmly do not reccomend

By B.A. R. from Akron, OH
Music Background: 20 years worship, gospel, and rock guitar.

I recently purchased two of these for my church because we had an event with a lot of guitar players in one service and used every single stand we had. The week after that event I brought the two new stands to church thinking I was being a blessing. Little did I realize that the bottom cradle that holds the guitar body spins upside down when a guitar isn't in it.

This does a a couple bad things:
1 - it makes quickly switching guitars more difficult when transitioning songs because you're having to fight with the bottom to get it in the right position... with a guitar in each hand... trying to swivel the cradle with your foot...

2 - if you accidentally try put the instrument down with the cradle flipped upside down it immediately slides off.

I witnessed with my own eyes my friend playing lead last weekend almost lose his Brad Paisley signature Tele because of that last one.

If this guitar is staying at your house and isntebeing used in a love situation I would still not recommend it.

Two huge design flaws

By Steve H. from OSHKOSH, WI

I would not recommend anyone buy this stand. The reviews that say the cradle that holds the guitar bottom unexpectedly pivots, dumping your guitar on the floor, are exactly right. The other major flaw is that the stand is almost vertical rather than leaning back at a healthy angle, which would make it's hold on the guitar more secure. I drilled a hole in the shaft that holds the cradle and added a set screw to make it harder for the cradle to pivot, and cut an inch off the back leg to increase the backward lean of the stand. That should help, but you shouldn't have to modify something to make it work the way it should right from the factory.

Nice stable stand for my bass

By Deb from LANCASTER, CA
Music Background: Dabbler

I have my Peavey bass on this thing and it's nice and stable... however, if you have rambunctious dogs, definitely fasten that little piece across the neck! It'll save you the trouble of picking up your instrument from the floor when your fur babies stampede through your music room.

Bottom keeps flipping upside down

By Max B. from The Woodlands, TX

I have a lot of stands in this price range, and they are all pretty much the same. This one is fine, but the bottom (two prongs) always flips upside down, which makes it a real pain for quickly changing out guitars. I also think the locking thing at the top is a bit of a gimmick: if you knock the guitar, the whole stand will flip over with it since it's so light.

Junk

By Tom
Music Background: Guitar Player

Poorly made. Welds are messy and lopsided. It's actually pathetic and laughable. Spins non stop, always wants to tip over. Plenty of hard plastic parts to hit your guitar on.

Great stand.

By Anthony H. from AURORA, CO
Music Background: Semi-professional musician with over 40 years experience.

Solid with a good amount of padding on the seat and arms. The seat is plenty wide and the tilt keeps the guitar neck secured gently in the arms.

Good quality, but the lower rest seems to be at a weird angle and spins too easily

By David T. from BLANCHARD, OK
Music Background: Guitar player & recording engineer

I like the stand okay, it seems to be heavy duty and good quality construction, but the lower rest for the guitar body seems to be at a steep upward angle. Maybe it just got bent at some point, not sure, but just feels kind of awkward. I've also noticed that the lower rest spins really easily when the guitar is not on it and so it is slightly annoying to have to use my hand or foot to get it spun in the right direction to place the guitar on it every time I put my guitar back on the stand.

Great stands for acoustic guitars

By Ken from Raleigh
Music Background: Player for over 50 years.

Just got two of the gator stands from sweetwater. Excellent service every time with them. The stands were bought for two acoustic guitars of mine. A 6 and a 12 string and they work great. Even better made than I expected for the price. The only con is my experience with the stand is a fender strat tends to slip to one side a little but still stays in the stand. My rating is excellent for acoustic guitars a big thumbs up and thanks sweetwater

Nice Stand

By Steven G. from Zephyrhills, FL

The stand is sturdy and well-built. Like other reviewers, I'd prefer it to angle back more when holding a solid-body electric, but it seems secure enough. I'd buy it again.

Front heavy, wants to tip over

By Pb from CA

This stand is nice quality and easy to assemble. Its too upright and when I put a heavy Les Paul on it, it feels like it wants to tip forward. I do not use it for any except my accoustic. I do not recommend.

Gator Frameworks Guitar Stand

By Mark L. from Spring Lake Park, MN
Music Background: Bass Player

Very nice, sturdy stand! Much sturdier than other stands I have. Adjustable. Works perfectly with my Precision Bass. Sweetwater did me up right, too! Good price, good value, and they shipped it to me very promptly, despite the stay-at-home orders we're all dealing with at present!

Look elsewhere!!

By Russ from Cridersville, Ohio
Music Background: 70 year old Beatle

I visited Sweetwater for the first time and it was amazing! However I am very disappointed in this guitar stand that I purchased. After driving an hour-and-a half back home, and unboxing this, I then put the 3 piece stand together. Should have been pretty simple right?? Well the cradle spins 360-degrees unless you wrap tape or something around it. And when I inserted the top into the base and adjusted it, the knob that tightens to hold it in place fits into a nut on the inside of the shaft, and it came out completely! So, be prepared to improvise as I had to do. Certainly not driving all the way back to return it. Seems to be okay for now, but I could have done better in my selection. Even at 70 I am learning not to be TOO cheap! And yes, of course, it's made in China! Go figure!

Great Stands

By Eric F. from West Lafayette, Indiana

I have bought half a dozen of these Gator stands for myself and for musicians at Church and have several nice axes sitting on them. Discreet black finish (by contrast, I used to have Royce chrome stands back in the day, they last for years) and strap is handy for ensuring offset guitar resting. Simple, sturdy, lightweight, no problems. Like most Gator products, they are inexpensive, not cheap.

Excellent For The Price

By Eric F. from West Lafayette, Indiana

Ah, the days of heavy guitar chrome stands. I had so many....well, that's gone, so these are the best for the money. I have purchased several for my Church as well as for my band. The binding strap across the top is great, nothing has slipped out since.

Junk Stay away

By Del H. from Swartz Creek, MI

Ok so had this stand for a year and the tightening nut broke right off. Now if this thing got used or moved at all I could give it a better review but the thing has not been touched since I set it up...go to move the neck position first time and the thing breaks. Im not happy with this at all.

Meh...For Acoustics

By Peter J. from New York
Music Background: Rennaissance Rocker

Nice stand, sturdy, but I have to agree with one of the other reviewers about its high center of gravity as well as the depth of its pocket. I have a Takamine P5DC that I won't put in the stand for its precariousness when there, the guitar is too wide for the stand. In short, its a good stand for electrics. I have two of these stands, I'm about to buy my third for my Ric 350v63.

I have better luck with low cost stands than high end ones. they seem to be over engineered. Great stand I will look at more gator stands. Thanks Jonathan C for all your help as always.

Happy Customer

By Barbara from Floriday

The stand is easy to put together and easy to use. It makes it so much easier for just getting in one or two songs on my Martin Dreadnaught Jr without the overhead of getting an instrument in and out of a guitar case. I find I am playing my guitar much more frequently because it is so readily available.

August 20, 2016

Poor engineering

By Miguel
Music Background: Noob

High center of gravity, shallow cradle that rotates upside down way too easily.
Unless you are being extra careful, it's way too easy to drop a guitar. OK for long term, but very frustrating for frequent use.

Gator Frameworks GFW-GTR-1000 Guitar Stand

By Sweetwater Customer from Missouri

This is an excellent stand in terms of its construction, but the design may be off slightly for a solid body guitar. Solid construction, nice padding, works well for my acoustic, not so well for my solid body electrics. Everything about the materials and build of the stand is great, but I believe the neck holder is too for forward from the body rest causing the guitar to be almost vertical. I have other stands that lean more so the guitar will not be at risk of falling forward. This does have a strap across the neck support that is very nice, but I am still concerned that the guitar and stand will fall forward if the guitar is bumped. Placing the guitar body further to the front of the rest shifts the CG forward so that is not a good solution. Since the neck on an acoustic is further from the back of the body, an acoustic sits in this very nicely. I may modify the back leg slightly to improve the stability of this with a solid body in it.

Nice value for the Money !

By MerleW from Topeka, KS

Very nice, good value for the money. I like the little notch and 'locks' the protector in place to keep the guitar from falling out. Easy to assemble, looks nice.
A traditional guitar stand in black instead of chrome with a couple small modern features like the little locking band. I bought several and am very happy with them.

Great stand at an outstanding price!

By Vincent S. from Versailles, KY
Music Background: Technical Death Metal Guitarist

There was a question mark surrounding the quality of this stand when going through my mind, when I had ordered it. For the price it's being sold at, you can't expect much. Trust me when I say that I was utterly surprised that for a stand that's THIS cheap, that it's at the level of build that it actually is. Balances and holds my guitar perfectly, all while supporting the body and neck. Highly recommended if you're shopping around on a budget!
