An Incredible Instrument

By Ray Warren from ST LOUIS, MO on August 10, 2023

Having owned a Guild Songbird for over 35 years and a Guild 250 CE for the past year, I was anxious to get my hands on a D-140CE. It arrived this past sunday. I took it out of the box, did a quick set up (intonation was spot on), took it to my show and played it sunday afternoon. Typically I use my 250 for shows, but really enjoyed playing this smaller 140. The tone thru my Baggs session pedal was incredible. The playability and tone of this guitar is up there with instruments costing double what I payed. As always, Guild comes through with an incredible instrument. Just order it and be amazed!!

Guild D140CE

By Don Wiklund from Henderson Nevada on May 22, 2023

In 1972 right after I got out of the Navy I bought myself a gift. A brand new Guild D40. It was my #1 acoustic until I recently gifted it to my grand daughter. To replace it I bought this D140CE from Sweetwater and I'm as happy as I ever was.

Pure

Guitar sounds angelic, if you're thinking of purchasing it's a must buy.

Exceptional tone and a great quality for the price

By Joseph on February 3, 2023 Music Background: Intermediate

This guitar sounds amazing for the price range it's in! Honestly, probably still sounds amazing compared to guitars that are twice the price of this one. I've got a Martin D13e and I'd have to say the Martin does have some deep lows, but is lacking in the high frequency arena compared to the Guild. This Guild has good lows, mids, and highs, and cost less than my Martin did. Great sounding guitar and easy on the eyes too. If you're thinking about pulling the trigger on this one, don't hesitate.

Just fun to play

By Sweetwater Customer on January 6, 2023

If you're looking for a guitar in this price range, stop and just buy this one. High, mid and low tones are incredible. Action is set low and is just fun to play. With Sweetwater's 55 point inspection this piece of art came out of the box tuned and ready to play. Craftsmanship is excellent and the padded gig bag keeps your beauty safe and secure. Shout out to my sales consultant Ben Toenges for his expert advice helping me to make the final choice between the Martin and Guild.

Love my Guild

By N. Cote from Cape Cod, MA on November 9, 2022 Music Background: Intermediate player

I have wanted a Guild for 30+ years and finally ordered this guitar and all I can say is this is the nicest acoustic guitar I have ever owned or played. The sound is loud and full but also warm and beautiful. Setup was spot on, less that 48 hour delivery to Cape Cod, couldn't be happier with this guitar and my experience with Sweetwater, I will never buy from another company for instruments again.

Unbelievable Tone!

By Eric from Florida on July 6, 2022 Music Background: Guitarist for 20 years, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist - I record in my home studio

The Guild D-140CE is amazing! Super huge thanks to my sales engineer, Justin Wofford for helping to guide me towards this guitar! He and the Sweetwater team were awesome throughout this process! The tone is just perfect! This guitar has a well-balanced sound with a crystal clear low-end, nice, robust mids, and a warm high-end that doesn't sound tinny or thin. It plays like something almost twice as expensive! It has a nice bit of punchiness to it, which is great for flatpicking, soloing, and fingerpicking (my preferred playing style). It also sounds incredible when strummed- a very deep, rich, resonant sound. It's lightweight but projects really nicely and has the right amount of volume! The action is great and it's easy to move around the fretboard!

It looks fantastic too! Classic dreadnought with a beautiful antique burst finish, nice binding, and a cool headstock. The vintage tuners are a wonderful touch as well! The electronics are also great! The natural reverb really shines on the Guild/Fishman GT1, which has easy-to-use tone and volume knobs tucked in the edge of the soundhole.

It's also important to mention that the dynamic aspect of this guitar is phenomenal! It's so transparent to the way you're playing. You don't have to play too hard or too soft to try and overcompensate for changes in dynamic or volume, which is great for live performances and for better takes in the studio!

This guitar has such a great tone and classic looks! It's got a real pawn shop chic appeal to it, with an incredibly well-rounded sound! It's a really focused and sonically-driven acoustic! It's perfect if you love that deeply warm 60s and 70s folk/singer-songwriter guitar tone. For the materials, sound quality, look, and playability, I don't know that you'll find much else in this price range that can match this Guild!

It's The Best - Setup Required

By Gill Fisher from Hilton Head Island, SC on March 16, 2022 Music Background: Played Gibson and Martin for 50 Years!

I took a chance and purchased this guitar from Sweetwater sight unseen, having never played a Guild before. The guitar arrived double packaged in perfect condition, but needing a setup badly. The fret bars were terribly not even, and the intonation was off on the E, A, and D strings. The action was too high on the 1st - 5th fret. And too low above the 5th fret. After I sanded the fret bars to level, the Intonation adjusted itself to perfect. The action a dream. This guitar offers the finest tone I have ever heard in my life. It beats Gibson and Martin, or anything I have ever played. I just want everyone to know - get a setup and you will be extremely pleased with this guitar. Those who do not are disappointed. The price for a solid mahogany guitar like this from any other brand is 300% more. You will not be as happy paying more because this guitar delivers the power for much less. Wait until you hear the harmonics. It rings like no other guitar can. WOW!

Guild D 140 CE

By Jesse from Mesa, AZ on March 7, 2022 Music Background: Traditionally taught Classical, Self Taught Acoustic & Electric

Simply incredible! The D-140ce gives you the experience of a much more expensive guitar with the benefit of an affordable price. It sounds amazing-nice mids, good base, and has a good amount of sustain. I would say it compares well to a mid-level Martin or a mid-level solid b/s Taylor. The electronics are EZ to use and sound great and the finish is excellent. My only complaint - if I had to pick something I did not love... the strings that it shipped with but that is really a small and very subjective dislike.

Extraordinary

By Gill Fisher from Hilton Head Island, SC on December 22, 2021 Music Background: Advanced

Buy this guitar. It's the best quality at any price anywhere. Having never played a Guild, I would not have taken the plunge without talking to George Deng. He gave me an honest review and it was not a sales pitch. I will never forget what he said, "This one takes my heart." George was so right. I have owned many Gibson's and Martin's. This Guild beats them all for a fraction of the price. The traditional solid tonal wood is off the chart in appeal. Look at the list what it's made of and you will see a 1960 masterpiece with the finest material. The tone is extraordinary and will only get better each time it's played. The finish is perfect. I can't say enough good things about this amazing guitar. I would have paid twice as much for this level of quality. I can't thank George enough for steering me in the right direction. Another thing he said, "The belief that only Americans can make a guitar is REDICULAS." He is so right when it comes to this guitar. Also, Sweetwater is the best dealer. The guitar arrived on time double packed in two boxes with large thick foam protection. I could not be happier with this guitar. I have been playing for 50 years. Thank you George and Sweetwater!

The Absolute Best Guitar I have Ever Found For The Money!

By Rev. Jim Berlin from Joplin, Missouri on May 5, 2020 Music Background: Retired professional But still playing churches Praise Team

The Guild D-140CE is absolutely amazing. Great finish, materials and quality. The finish is superb and the general quality beats many much higher priced units. I was thinking of getting another brand but after talking to my salesperson, Alex Campos, he assured me that the Guild was the way to go! Thanks Alex and I appreciate all you did to help in this purchase. I have Played a Martin D35 and D18 for years and was looking around for something I could take everywhere and not be afraid of a high price loss. The Guild has completely fulfilled my need and sounds great. I highly recommend this instrument!

Beautiful Sound, Sturdy Build

By Sweetwater Customer on November 9, 2022

Don't let the images fool you, the yellow hue of the body is really toned to a more natural wood look. I say that because I really wanted this guitar but am not a fan of how orange and kind of fake the coloration of the sunburst usually looks on the guitar. But! That isn't a problem for this guitar. The finish is beautiful and natural looking against the grain of the wood, and I couldn't be happier with how it sounds and feels.

My one problem is that there is bubbling on the chip guard only a few weeks into owning it. No significant temp changes or humidity changes to account for it, so that is a little bit of a bummer. Will update to add photos if I remember.
