Great case! Made for a very deep body.

By Daniel B. from ROCHELLE, TX
Music Background: Always gigin somewhere. Not really making any money lol.

I used this case for a Knockoff Baritone Buckethead. The length and dimensions are great. I really find the construction and the latches and cushions to be quite nice. The only problem is it is made for a very deep body so the neck points up. The Buckethead does not hit the top of the case as it is a bit shorter than the case will accept. But I will be putting a hand towel under the body to fix this mismatch.

Great fit!

By Sweetwater Customer

With all my guitars, I like to keep them protected. Since the Gretsch G5260T has a longer neck than most baritones, it made sense to get the manufacturer's product. The case is well made and a perfect fit.

Could be Better

By Dino from Tennessee
Music Background: Starting to play again.

I brought this case for my Gretsch Junior Jet. I contacted Sweetwater for a recommendation about the case as I wasn't sure about it by its description. It's a good-looking case with the Gretsch logo on it. I think it could be a little bit sturdier. I knew it wasn't an airline case, But a good case to transport by car. The plush lining is really nice the body fits well. But the reason I gave it 3 stars. Is The bass does not lie flat the neck cradle is too high and pitches the Bass up and when you close the case it presses down on the head stock .You have to give it moderate pressure to close it and latch it So, I think I may try adding some padding where the body lays or may figure out a way to lower the neck cradle but lowering it depends on how much it will lower and will it not be enough because of the accessory frame. All and all its usable and after all it is an odd size and shape bass. But I do love the bass. And Big shout out to Sweewater for on time delivery and GREAT Tec help.

Decent enough case but needs work

By Trip
Music Background: Prof. Multi Instrumentalist, Vox - live performance, recordings for Producers

It's a decent hard case. I agree with one reviewer its a bit light. Still well made enough, in my opinion, to protect the instrument from most short of touring maybe.

What's confusing (and why this isn't 5 stars) - This is a case made for the Jet, bass and baritione, yet if you put either of these in this case, as one reviewer already shows in his pics, the body sits so low in the case that the neck rises up and the case won't close. This also allows for the body to bounce around in the case. WTF? Nobody at Gretsch caught this?

I still give it 3 stars because, decent baritone cases aren't that easy to find, and, this issue can be solved relatively easily. I used a towel to pad the bottom of the case, raise the body up and bring the neck down so the case will close, and the guitar doesn't float around loose in the case.

I shouldn't have to do that though. Especially when the case is actually made by Gretsch to fit. Do better Gretsch.

Gretsch Baritone hard case

By Josef K. from San Luis Obispo, CA

I tried a gig bag for a minute, just not near enough protection. This is not a flight case or an old Victoria hard case, but fits correctly and will provide adequate protection for light use. Good for the price.

OK CASE

By David from Champaign Illinois
Music Background: Music education degree, professional player for 30 years, music store equipment and service mgr. for 4 years.

I ordered this case to house my new Gretsch Jet. This is the OEM case for this instrument, which was why I bought it; I wanted to be sure the case fit this short scale bass.

The case is well-padded and hugs the body just as it should. It carries the name "Gretsch" on the lid. It is, in every respect, an OEM case. I like the four latches, including one on the back side. They seem secure.

Here's the rub for me, and the reason why I gave it 3.5 stars. It feels very light and a little flimsy. I've had several hard cases in the past for different instruments, and they all felt very solid, a bit heavy, and very secure. This one feels less so. I'm not entirely sure I could stack things on top of this case and not have it cave in. The hinges also don't feel as secure; there is some wobble when the lid is opened, perhaps due to the body they're attached to being a little ... flexible. It almost feels a bit like a fiber board case, even though it's a hard shell.

The case works for me, because I just store the bass at home and carry it in my car to church, so I don't need anything real heavy-duty. But if I were touring a lot, or going back and forth to many venues, I think I'd look for a better, more stable option. As always, YMMV.

Sweetwater was (as always) a dream to deal with. The order arrived promptly and in good order.

Poor Fit For Gretsch Baritone (with pictures)

By Kevin B. from Houston, TX
Music Background: Former touring musician, now gigging locally.

I recently bought a G5260 Electromatic Jet Baritone and was disappointed to find that it didn't come with a case - not even a soft case. I eventually found this one and luckily, I was able to save a little money on a demo model that Sweetwater had available. The quality of the case itself is very good, but there isn't enough cushioning at the lower bout, causing the headstock to tilt upward and preventing the case from closing properly. You can see what I mean in the pictures. I was able to solve this problem with a makeshift cushion I made from some old crew socks, but it's still pretty frustrating. Looking for a case for such a unique instrument was kind of a saga, and for the money I paid, I should expect a better fitting case from the same company that made the guitar that the case is for.

Five stars for quality, minus three stars for poor fit. Really glad I saved money on a demo!

Gretsch case for Jet G2220 Bass/Baritone

By Sweetwater Customer

My G2220 bass originally came with a Gretsch gig bag--admittedly a pretty good gig bag. However, any instrument that I deem good enough to warrant a permanent place in my collection merits a hard case. Genuine Gretsch cases, other than those that come with the high end/pro series, can sometimes be hard to find. Fortunately, Sweetwater usually has a pretty good selection, to include this one that fits the Jet G2220 bass well. I don't have a Gretsch baritone (yet), so I can't comment first-hand on that potential fit. The fit & finish are fine as expected. I only wish the case had five clasps rather than the existing four (hence the 4.5 stars).
