Darn near perfect jazz guitar

By Basil from Texas on March 14, 2023

Title says it all. This is darn near perfect jazz guitar. The slightly smaller dimensions (as compared to regular hollowbodies) makes it extremely comfortable to play, Burt doesn't give up much in terms of tone. The neck is absolutely perfect as is to be expected from Ibanez, well known for making some of the most comfortable profiles ever. The fit and finish is extremely high quality down to the binding inside the f holes. If you like jazz guitars or even hollowbodies for that matter, you will absolutely love this guitar. I can think of how it could be any better…that good!

Wonderful.............

By Lee Muller from Aiea, Hawaii on May 8, 2022 Music Background: Former professional, retired to the man cave.

This GB10 is wonderful! I've had a love affair with Ibanez for quite a few years, having owned a 1976 Artist, an AS200, a JM100, and a GB10se. The last two I bought from Sweetwater. Well, I found this, my latest, a GB10, in Japan. After getting it set up, I have to say that for jazz, this is the easiest playing and best sounding guitar I've ever owned. If you're thinking about getting one, don't hesitate, life is too short. Give Greg Savino a call, he'll set you up with one.

Gold standard

Not much more to say. The de facto standard for studio jazz performance. Unrivaled in nearly 40 years.

Perfect guitar

By Sweetwater Customer on October 2, 2014 Music Background: Composer, guitarist, performer

Long time Gibson player here but this guitar have truly made an impact on me way more then any other electric guitar before. The playabality is superb, the setup, as it arrived from sweetwater just perfect and the overall unique character is beautiful. It retains enough acoustic features but it can taken to another level volume wise way more then any other archtop I have played. There is some gypsy jazz character in the sound which I really like and makes it very versatile. Thank you Arend from Sweetwater for great advice and perfect transactions.

There is none better...

I owned one of these years ago, i also had an es 175 and a Howard Roberts custom, both fine guitars by any standard , but the GB10 it is something special the small size gives it a versatility of tone you can do more than jazz with it ..this is as close to a D'aquisto as your going to get . it has the floating pickups and great hardware appointments including tailpiece tension control it has the ease of playability that ibanez is known for ..if you want to play jazz get one of these ...you will fall in love...you will reach for this guitar again and again...

LOVE IT

This is my third archtop. I have an Epi Joe Pass and a Gibson L5, and this one is my favorite. The body size is remarkably comfortable, the tonal range is quite wide. Sounds good through a tube amp with a touch of reverb for the old school stuff and it does nicely with an effects rack. The neck is as fast as the L5. The Ibanez doesn't have the sustain that the L5 has, but few archtops guitars do, and it costs a fifth of the L5 I do wish the plating on the hardware was better quality, I can see it will start to pit and discolor in a few years.

Ibanez George Benson Guitar

By Francesco Bonifazi from Colorado, USA on October 1, 2005

I've had my original issue Benson for more than 20 years and it's my go-to electric guitar for jazz. I also have a 1950 Gibson L-5C so the Benson has competition in my rack.

My second choice for that purchase was a Gibson 335, but when I played the Benson it was no competition.
The playability is just so easy with a neck that's just thin enough. The tone is amazing and those floating pickups and carved spruce top work together like no other small-boby F-Hole guitar. It's loud enough to practice with even when not pluged in.

Along with a few other Ibanez arch-tops (including the now discontinued Joe Pass mode) these are amoung the finest guitars regardless of name or price.

You can hear me playing it on my original FunkyJ track on my Air Play CD which released this year at: www.thejazzwhistler.com
