It's "lit" means that the clock is really good, intense, fun, or exciting, similar to other slang terms such as poppin' or off the chain. Also, after I plugged the power cord into the wall outlet, it lit up! Well to be fair, I did have to rotate the switch a bit, but it clicked right on and lit right up! Additionally, after it's lit, you can look right at it and admire it! I was so excited, I nearly forgot about the other feature - there's a built-in clock too! I was able to get an included battery properly installed so that time moves forward and not backward, and then located a small knob on the back which allowed me to get those clock hands positioned into a reasonably sensible position, and Presto! Is it a light? Is it a Clock? Is it nostalgia? Yup. Yup. Yup.

Super cool clock. The vintage look is awesome. The clock mechanism runs off of batteries and the light uses an external plug. I'd like for the cord to be a bit longer but I made it work. The roller switch on the cord is a pretty cheap switch, it should hold up but at that price it should be better quality. Looks great on my wall!!
