Ibanez GA5TCE3Q 3/4-sized Acoustic-electric Nylon-string Guitar - Natural Reviews

3/4-size Nylon-string Acoustic-electric Guitar with Spruce Top, Sapele Back and Sides, Okoume Neck, and Purpleheart Fingerboard - Natural

The 3/4-size Ibanez GA5TCE3Q acoustic-electric nylon-string is a superb choice for advancing young guitarists and crossover players seeking a small-bodied entryway into the world of the electrified nylon-string guitar. Starting with a spruce top and sapele back and sides, the GA5TCE3Q boasts a seriously slimmed-down hybrid crossover body width for superior playing comfort. Players who regularly venture up to the dusty end of the neck will be sure to love the GA5TCE3Q’s deep cutaway — a decidedly non-classical spec that permit full access to the okoume neck’s sleek purpleheart fingerboard. And once you’ve mastered your first nylon-string showpiece, the GA5TCE3Q’s onboard Ibanez electronics, tuner, and tone controls make this versatile crossover guitar a pint-sized powerhouse.

Ibanez Disappoints

By Ralph H. from Petaluma, CA
Music Background: Semi-pro semi-retired guitarist- jazz/funk/pop/rock

I really wanted to like this guitar. I was looking forward to receiving it, but when it arrived I could immediately see the workmanship was rough. There was still glue on the head stock between the tuners that was never cleaned up in the factory! Worse yet, the intonation was off, wouldn't play in tune up and down the neck. Lastly, the tuner stopped working. I know it's a lower priced instrument, more entry-level, but I expected Ibanez to have a better quality control. Returned it and looking at Cordoba and Ortega for their 3/4 size nylon acoustic-electric cutaways. Not the easiest thing to find!

Great value!

By Sweetwater Customer

I bought this for my 14 year old son who has average sized hands for music class at school. I wanted something that I didn't mind getting dinged up leaving it at school, was comfortable to learn on, but was still a quality instrument that wouldn't fight his learning. This guitar is perfect for those requirements. Even as an adult, it feels great - much easier to play than a full size classical, in fact, I'll probably end up playing it more than my main $ classical. The tuners are surprisingly good. Other than the new strings stretching, the tuners themselves are tight with a seemingly high ratio so it's very easy to hit the correct pitch. The built-in tuner is a very nice touch, especially for a beginner. It certainly does not look or feel like a toy, even though it's 3/4 scale. Even though my son is as tall as I am (5'9") the scale is perfect and it sounds great. It could be priced much more and still be a great value. My 12 year old daughter who is 5'2" with shorter fingers immediately told me she wanted one after playing for 5 minutes after learning on my full-sized guitar. I can't recommend it enough as either a guitar an adult doesn't have to worry about (beater guitar, travelling, etc..), a student guitar, or something for an adult to enjoy due to the playability.

great little guitar

By Jesse S. from Wilkinson, IN
Music Background: front porch trained

I work construction and travel around a lot. I bought this little lady to go with me. Pretty tone...not to loud for the motel. Fits behind the seat of my Dodge Ram. Seems to be put together well.

First 3/4 guitar

By Alan from Hawaii
Music Background: Amateur musician in all different styles of guitar

I am restarting my guitar playing journey after a long hiatus and due to age with less strength, agility and manicuring fingernails, this guitar has given me hope to once again play. I have relatively small hands so reaching certain fingerings are very challenging with my full sized guitar. Not so with this model. Yes, the sound and depth of acoustics is compromised due to size, you can use electronics to boost its depth if amplified.

But since I am using this guitar to relearn and for my own purposes and not performances, I think it is a definite winner.
I have tried other 3/4 guitars but this seemed to be the most comfortable to play and the main reason why I purchased it. On top of it all, at this price point is unbeatable.
