Gretsch G6659TG Players Edition Broadkaster Jr. Center Block Semi-hollowbody Electric Guitar - Cadillac Green, Bigsby Tailpiece Reviews

Semi-hollowbody Electric Guitar with Laminated Maple Top, Back, and Sides, Spruce Center Block, Maple Neck, Ebony Fretboard, 2 Humbucking Pickups, and Bigsby Vibrato Tailpiece - Cadillac Green, Gold Hardware

Gretsch's smaller 14" tiger flame maple Broadkaster body style joins the center block series of guitars, with the G6659TG Players Edition Broadkaster Jr. Center Block semi-hollowbody electric guitar. The chambered spruce center block enhances sustain and note definition, while also fighting resonant feedback onstage. But the stars of the show are a pair of Full'Tron humbucking pickups — designed with pickup legend Tim Shaw — delivering pronounced midrange muscle. Factor in the treble bleed circuit and no-load tone control for sonic clarity, and it's clear the Gretsch G6659TG Players Edition Broadkaster Center Block guitar is fully equipped for stage and studio.

Cannot be done better.

By Bob Jayne from Brownsburg, In on October 17, 2023 Music Background: Fan of Chet Atkins

After visiting Sweetwater to pick up my new Grestch, I called the asst. to the owner to compliment them on their facilities, service and staff. From my initial contact with Jared to being there, the experience has been a pure joy. I really don't see how it could be done any better. I did ask if they could run our Country the way they run their business. Thank you Sweetwater for doing it better than right.

Beautiful and comfortable to play

By Sweetwater Customer on February 20, 2023

Not only is it gorgeous and the workmanship top notch, but Gretsch did I brilliant thing by developing the Jr series with a smaller form factor. It feels like a Les Paul, yet has that Gretsch sound! A win win!

To this who point out any tuning issues, that is super easy to rectify by the combo of lubricating the nut and bridge and by lowering the bridge break angle, and one way to do so is by installing a Bricks Biggs Fix.

Mine plays in perfect tune with plenty of bends and whammy work.

Great/Exceptional Guitar (Ful'tron pickups - not so much)

By Jabroni on January 26, 2022

Fit, finish, playability, etc. this guitar is top quality. Plays extremely well and comfortable. The Full'tron pickups however I personally do not like. The neck pickup is the muddiest sounding pickup I've ever played. Tried adjusting height, lugs, etc. still dull. Pickup swaps are the easiest mod to do on a guitar so b/c of how stellar everything else is on the guitar and the quality and craftsmanship I still give it 5 stars. I put TVJones in mine and it is SUPERB!!

Versatillity defined!

By John P. from Pittsburgh PA on March 10, 2019 Music Background: Over 30 years of playing and collecting guitars.

This guitar can be used to play anything from Rockabilly to Metal...yes, Metal. The Full Tron pups are incredible and produce crystal clear cleans to thick saturated distortion easily. My band plays a wide variety of covers and this one guitar fits in with them all. Ive played Judas Priest"s the Hellion/Electric Eye on this thing and it sounded great! The playability is incredible and it turns everyones head that sees it. The Bigsby is smooth as silk and the neck is comfotable and easy to play. Just a top quality instrument in every way.

Great Guitar - Broadkaster

By Sweetwater Customer on March 2, 2019 Music Background: Semi-pro (retired) . Now home hobbyist

Love this guitar. I just picked one up a few weeks ago and still blown away how great this guitar plays and sounds. The Broad Tron pickups are fat but also real clear sounding. I like the smaller size even though I am a bigger guy... I also have a Duo Jet and the size of this guitar is similar. The guitar plays really well and stays in tune after I had a chance to stretch the strings out.

my new gretsch

By mike from ill on May 7, 2018 Music Background: semi pro

I have had other gretsch guitars 3 to be exact. They have always been great. I love the look of this guitar, and waited a long time to get it. I was thinking that this will be my all time favorite. But the darn thing will not stay in tune if you use the Bigsby or play it hard. I had to set it back in the rack on my last gig. So I changed strings took it to my Luthier and it is better, but it still goes out of tune just playing it. I wonder if others are experiencing the same thing. I would love to hear about a fix. I want this guitar to be my all time favorite. I love the size and the sound is great. I have been a semi pro for the last 20 years., and I toured when I was a lot younger. I have worked with many , many bands. I just an having a hard time being upset with a guitar I was so looking forward too. So if there is a fix please let me know, also I would like to hear from others who own tis guitar. By the way I have a 12string Gretsch that stays in tune very well no Bigsbty though. I will say this Bigsby tailpiece looks different than others I have had. My Gretsch Tennessee Rose seemed different to me. Please let me know if you have a fix. Thanks
