It's a Gretsch for sure

By Greg Shelley, recording artist, instructor from EDGEWOOD, WA on February 3, 2022 Music Background: I have done thousands of hours of recording. My stuff is pretty easy to find on YouTube, Amazon, Pandora, etc. Mostly, for 50 years now, I teach. I've taught for school districts, a college, a chain of music stores, but mostly in my own studio.

I have a Tennessee Rose and a 1962 Model Country Gentleman. Both guitars have been excellent but they are both about 15 years old with a lot of play time on them. I needed a new comparable Gretsch for my busy teaching practice. The Nashville sounded like exactly what I wanted: Fixed bridge, string through Bigsby, Gotoh locking tuners. These newer features have resolved the intonation problems I have with my two older Gretsch guitars. Plus, the sustain is clearly improved. The Nashville Filtertron pickups sound about the same as my older ones. The pickups are "studio quiet" in my opinion. I compared them to the others head to head; side by side. Very nice, for playing Chet Atkins Travis Picking styles and nice for Blues, Jazz and Old Rock. The laser Fret leveling, setup was excellent. Sales guy, Colton, was very helpful. I am very happy with the Gretsch Nashville and I am doing work on my other two to bring them back up to the high Gretsch standard I have enjoyed most of my life. The Nashville truly has the "Gretsch" Sound that I love.

Great guitar!

This instrument responds the way a guitar should! I love mine and prefer it over any other brand in its class!

Fantastic guitar

By Dave from Florida on July 13, 2017 Music Background: Semi-professional musician

Received my new Gretsch 6620TFM a couple of weeks ago . It is one of the best sounding guitars that I've ever heard. It has THE Gretsch sound. The strings were a little too high ,so a little adjustment was needed. I love this guitar. The finish and workmanship was first class and the flame maple finish was just beautiful.
Because of it's thin body it was easy to play. I've been playing for over 50 years and I have to say that this is one of the Top 5 guitars that I've ever held or played. I've recorded in studios, and live performances with Gibsons , Fenders and others .
Also thanks to my Sales Engineer A.J.Barcerra for going to the extra effort to make sure that the guitar didn't have a stain that on the back. It turned out to be a reflection of the camera's lens. He took the time to physically look at and inspect the guitar for me. Now that's service when you have a warehouse full of guitars.
If you've been looking for a great Gretsch sounding , low feedback, great playing guitar this is it.

Love/Hate Relationship

By David from Statesboro, GA on June 18, 2019 Music Background: Retierd Pro

This guitar sounds GREAT. Crystal clear tone with highs and lows all at the same time...very nice with drive. It looks really good. I never was a fan of gold but this does look nice. Now.... The bridge on this thing must be replaced. It sounds like a hive of angry bees...ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ...on the entire guitar. If you hold your hand against the strings behind the bridge it stops the buzz. I replaced the bridge with a Shaller roller and there is now no buzz and now the G-string doesn't continually go sharp if you use the bigsby. Gretsch...why put such a sub-par bridge on such a nice instrument?

The nut is WAY TOO HIGH. I haven't fixed this yet. Now that I know I am keeping the guitar I will address that issue. This guitar would have easily been a five star...but not the way it was sent. Gretsch...WHY?

Gretsch G6620TFM Players Edition Nashville Center Block - Orange Stain, Bigsby Tailpiece

By Sweetwater Customer on March 22, 2017

When I ordered this guitar, I had high expectations based on the specs that Gretsch had published. When I received the guitar, upon inspecting it, I was immediately impressed with stunning flame maple finish and quality. This is an exceptionally well made guitar. However, when I plugged it in, the sound is not what I expected. It did not have the familiar Gretsch tone. Perhaps it was the center block that added to the "darkness" of the tone compared to my other Gretsch's. Also, I have to say that my other guitars are loaded with TV Jones pickups. I had read on the Gretsch Forum that many players thought the newer Gretsch pickups were close to the TV Jones pickups and that is one of the reasons I bought this guitar knowing it had regular Gretsch Filter Trons. I thought about keeping the guitar and just changing the pickups to TV Jones but decided not to go through the trouble.

Another thing that struck me about the guitar, and this might just be me being nit picky, is the bridge of the guitar is mounted directly into the body like vintage semi hollows. What I mean is the mounting studs go directly into the body with no bushings. For a guitar that has everything else being "updated" to current players needs, this just seemed out of place on this guitar.

Am sure other people will just love this guitar as it is a fine instrument but just not for me.

As usual, Sweetwater is great to deal with and their staff is very helpful. Just sorry I had to return this one.
