I bought this case at the same time I bought my G5410T Rat Rod. While my trusty sales engineer was trepidatious about the fit, it arrived and it's perfect. I can't speak for anything other than the G5410T, but it's a handsome case for a handsome guitar.

I purchased this Gretsch Guitar, my very first hollowbody, as a Christmas present to myself. The two month wait to open it on Christmas Day was brutal but well worth it. The guitar was shipped inside its Gretsch case and packed extremely well. Both units were received in perfect condition so kudos to Sweetwater and sales person Daniel Moore who was most helpful during the purchasing process. This is my first blue guitar and couldn't be more pleased. My other guitars include a red Yamaha transacoustic and a vintage '67 Gibson fire engine red Melodymaker, a gift from my parents for my 8th grade graduation. My amps are a '67 Gibson Explorer II and a Boss Katana MKII.

I bought this case along side with a new G5420TS-59. The 5420 fits in the case like a glove. It has a nice soft interior, good exterior, hinges and clasps and don't forget the 'GRETCH' branding on the front.

I have a left handed G5420 and this case is nice and snugg. I have a large hard leather strap that I had to remove to get the guitar to fit, but that's a small price to pay.

This case is built like an Army footlocker, the old ones!! This dang thing must weigh 3-times or more than the weight of my Gretsch guitar!! And the lining is great and the fit is "like a fine leather glove"!! I highly recommend it. Again, this bad boy is ruggedly made and ridiculously overmade. The right case for my 5420, as others have noted. Great Sweetwater service, as always. Thomas Bishop said something about it not handling the Bigsby, that it presses on the spring. I have not found that to be the case. @Thomas Bishop - are you pointing the Bigsby arm down toward the tail of the guitar? That's the proper way to position a Bigsby in a case.

Ordered this case for my Gretsch and was very pleased at how sturdy it was built. I have Gibson cases that are made just as good but this one was way cheaper in price. It is an excellent value.

This is a great case, does what it's intended to do: take care of my Gretsch! My only complaint is the smell. It's got a glue smell to it, but spring is right around the corner. Nothing some fresh air shouldn't take care of. It's a very tight snug fit (in a good way). Great build quality as well!

I am completely satisfied with my experience with Sweetwater, and with the Flat Top Hard Case I bought from them for my Gretsch 5120. My greatest fear was the case would not fit. But, that fear was quickly relieved. Literally! The case arrived within two days of ordering, and fit my guitar like a glove. More than pleased with my experience, and the quality product I received.
Plush lining and padding give the guitar no wiggle room. Sturdy frame seems sure to last the years. A bit heavy, but I expected as much for a hollow-body guitar case.

Oh, that Gretsch sound! This is a fantastic guitar for the price and Sweetwater goes above and beyond with their customer service. All I had to do was adjust intonation on a couple of strings and she was ready to gig. I am floored by the build quality and the tone and I'm really impressed at how crisp the high ranges sound even when I pile on distortion or OD. The only thing I can think of that might be considered a negative is the finish. It looks amazing, but when you run your fingertips on it, you can tell that it is not uniform and there are a few small blemishes that you can feel but not see. Personally, I think this adds to the rat-rod vibe that this axe has. Overall, it is a killer value for the money and you'll never go wrong when you buy from Sweetwater.

Seems to be well constructed with plush interior. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because it had 4 marks on it like it was picked up by some claws. Someone else made the same comment about theirs. Not enough of a mark to make me return it. I do like this case.

Bought this case for newly purchased Gretsch G5622T. The fit is perfect and the build quality of the case is excellent.

I have a G2420T and got the case for it initially. It got to my doorstep with a huge crack. I figured if it can handle shipping, it can handle any abuse at all. I got this case because one reviewer recommended it and yes this fits like a glove. This case is made by a company called TKL Corp. MADE IN CANADA. Beautifully made... great latches,nice lining. If I remember right my Gibson les Paul's case is made in Canada too. I don't know if it's the same company but the quality is comparable. So please do yourself a favor... ditch your G2420 case and get this instead.

The case is well made and my 5420 fits perfectly in it. It would be nice to have another clasp on the back, but it still seems secure with the 3 on the case . Would purchase again.

It"s a perfect snug fit for my g5422t. It also nicely fits my Epiphone Dot. It is slightly heavier than I expected, but that"s probably a good thing. Only one of the three latches accepts a padlock, but it seems like that"ll be fine to secure it when I fly. Other people commented on the smell. To me, the inside smells exactly like Play-Doh :-).

It's a case, and it works

As expected, this is a good solid case for the guitar.....I don't do any gigs, so it really doesn't matter to me, but the hardware seems like it could be better....the case maker could spend a little more time with the alignment and attachment....then it would be perfect....

I got the Gretsch G6241FT hardshell case for my snow white Gretsch G5422TG double cut away hollow body. The case is better suited for the G5420T single cutaway. Mine is thinner than the G5420T and, there is some space between the bottom of the guitar body and the bottom of the case. Nothing that a small fleece cloth won't fit underneath to solve the slight wiggle room problem. It's near perfect. I wouldn't worry about it, but I'm going to check it in as luggage for my trip to NY next month and don't need it moving around, not even a little bit. And yes, I would recommend it for the G5420T and the G5422T. And saving the best for last, Sweetwater has the best customer service. I won't shop anywhere else. Reid Bright is the best! This is a very solid great case. My Gretsch fits into it like a glove. The latches do their job very well. They hold the case tightly shut, and don't suddenly open up or anything. Nice fuzzy interior padding keeps the guitar safe. Ample box for gear extras like picks, small chords, and capos. Make sure your Gretsch is a model that this case is made for (there are several cases available, so be careful). This is a class piece of equipment!!!!

The case is perfect for thie guitar.

I needed a case for my recently purchased G5420T and this case is OEM. From the pics the hinges and latches looked to be as good or better than anything else and I like having the name imprinted. The guitar drops in and is sort of "enveloped" by the plush interior. Really, its a nice case for a nice instrument.

This hard shell case is very accurate for my Gretsch Nashville. The person (eengineer) at the ttelephone was like an old friend, polite and helpful. The quality of the item is great and I'm so happy because now my vintage guitar is in a wanderful new hard shell case.

I bought this from Sweetwater at the same time I bought a new Gretsch G5620T Center Block guitar. Fits like a glove, though I'm fairly certain that its the same body outline as the G5420.

The cubby in the case has a lid on it, so no stuff strewn about the case after closing it and moving it around (some third-party cases don't include this "feature"). No issues yet. Not that I plan on thrashing on it but, hopefully it does well in the long run regarding durability.

If you are buying a 16-inch bodied Gretsch, especially an Electromatic that doesn't come with a case, I whole heartedly recommend this case for your instrument. Cheers!

It fits perfect on my G5420t.
However, there is this weird smell inside. It kind of smells like play-doh for some odd reason. But overall, it protects your guitar very well.

Bought this for my G5427. Good fit and great build. Arrived clean and scratch free. Very solid and well balanced. It also fit my Epiphone Dot with some slack of course, but it's usable. Only complaints I have are it's a bit shallow and the bigsby holds it up slightly, but it will still close. Doesn't seem to be a problem. They did forget my sweets though, which was slightly disappointing

This is a quality guitar case but has a very distinct odor similar to vanilla. I have heard some say that this smell is a trademark of Gretsch.

First the good.

This is a very solid case that protects my Gretsch Streamliner 2420T extremely well. Solid locks, fits snuggly--but not too snugly, a good amount of storage, supports the neck well. All good.

Here's the reason I knocked a star off.

The covering of the case was flawed/damaged in three spots. First, there are four marks--two on one side and two on the other, that look almost like a claw machine picked up the case. Second, there is a small bubble in the covering where the vinyl wasn't smoothed all the way down.

Neither of these is a deal breaker, and I'm not sending it back--and the role of a case is to take the damage so guitars don't. Still, at this price point, there should not be obvious damage.

I think this Gretsch G6241FT 16" Hollowbody Flat Top Hardshell Guitar Case is a very sturdy well constituted case.It fits my new Gretsch 5420T59 very well.It does have one latch to ad a lock to it but I wish it came with a built in lock as part of the case.The inside is very well padded and soft to the touch with a middle storage pocket to put your tools or extra strings.
I would recommend it for the cost and build quality alone.

So far, I can say I am pleased with this guitar. I have always played an acoustic electric guitar. I play mostly religious gospel, praise and worship at church. I also played some with a southern gospel group some years ago. I am no expert, but I have found this instrument to be very versatile in the tones and musical styles that it compliments. Playing rhythm or melody, it enhances the fullness of the piano or electric keyboard. I love the great playability jof this model.

Not a bad case. It fits my 5420 perfectly. Seems to be very protective with a soft interior. Its not terribly heavy. Hardware is a little on the cheap side for the price, but not bad and fully functional.

The only reason I didn't give this a 5-star rating is because I have yet to be "blown away" by a case.

This hardshell case for my Gretsch is a great value for the money. My Tennessean 5120 is nestled perfectly in it's snug confines. I would have preferred a more contoured looking outside as it looks like an acoustic guitar case but overall I am quite satisfied, and Sweetwater does a great job of concierge customer service. A great case to protect you guitar at home. Very plush and hugs my 5420 well. The build quality is as expected for the price i paid, You'll need something better if you want to take your act on the road.

There is a very strong "Play-Doh" odor that i'll assume is the glue emanating from the open case, i'll imagine it will subside over time.

The case is well lined, solid and holds the instument well at all points. I would have given it five stars except for one point; the case has just three latches! This is probably adequate but suggests an attempt by Gretsch to save a few bucks!? All my other cases have at least four latches and conveys a more serious effort to protect the instrument.

Fits perfectly for my newly purchased gretsch. I think they should update the description indicating that it would also fit the G5427TG models. I had to go through the reviews to confirm that it fits.

I am leaving it with a 3.5 rating because the guitar case itself seems to have been used and a few scratch marks on it. I would suggest before purchasing, you could ask specifically for a brand new one. Nevertheless, its a great case. Would definitely purchase it again if ever I need a new one. Would recommend.

Perfectly nice case inside and out.

This guitar case arrived with a few cosmetic flaws. After unboxing I noticed some indentations around the handle that are likely a result of impact during manufacturing. Also, the tolex seams around the case are a bit irregular, and in some places are already beginning to lift and yield frayed edges & little wisps of the fabric backing. Also, the handle and latches are of low quality. The protection that the case affords seems sufficient, however at this price price point I had hoped for better build quality & hardware. My guess is that this will be a very ugly hardcase in about 12 months.

Sweetwater really shines! Price was tough to beat. Shipping was fast and communication was fantastic! I give Sweetwater the highest rating! Matt has always been real good about checking on me from time to time to see if there's anything I need. Thanks dude!!!

On to the gear. Really nice guitar case! I was worried if the Gretsch would fit. I have a Gretsch Setzer Hot Rod. Gretsch has so many different guitars and I wish there were specs on their website which said which guitars would fit in which case. My Hot Rod fit very, very snugly. I had to really push down to get it to fit in it the first few times. The only bad this is that you have to remember to swing the Bigsby out of the way to the 6 o'clock position (12 o'clock pointing towards the neck) to make sure it doesn't de-tune the guitar and take a bunch of tension off of the neck.

I used it for the first time a few weekends ago up in the mountains and it was pretty warm. I noticed that the black tolex(?) covering had begun to bubble in a few spots. Not terribly too happy about that. That's why this review is getting less than 5 stars. I'm not sure how well this case will hold up over the long haul.

the case is so much better protection for a hollowbody guitar than any gig bag. It is well made and provides the protection for the neck of my Gretsch 5422TDC.. At the end of the night, when all the gear goes back in the truck. I am confident that my guitar is protected during travel.

This case does exactly what it should - houses a Gretsch hollowbody guitar (mine is a g5120). It's a nice snug fit, no excessive movement. It only has 3 latches, but they do the job.

This case fits my guitar well, but it wasn't designed to accommodate the Bigsby tremolo that comes with most Gretsch G5420 models (G5420T). So when closing the case, it has to push the tremolo spring down slightly, which in turn puts a slight strain on the case at that point. The case is well made but is not form-fitted to the shape of the guitar. I will use this case to transport my guitar but I will not store the guitar in it unless I have to.

I bought this case for the G5422TDC and it is a custom fit in body width and height. The neck fit is good also. The depth of the case is too high and the guitar is able to move inside the case. This could be a problem with unwanted impact to the tremolo arm or the unpinned bridge. The price is reasonable and the build is good. Inside is plush. The case needs to better fit the guitar to get a better rating.

Compared to my Taylors,Takamine, Ovation this case is a cheap copy. The inside is great and my guitar fits great. Just hope it stays together! The picture is the typical semi glued seam for a ridiculous price for an expensive guitar!

My Gretch 5420 fit well, the interior of the case is plush, my disappointment is the cases exterior. The black textured finish appears to be stick on tape, and the assembly of that is amateur looking. Oh well the guitar is safer now.

case works for this guitar. Latches dont't quite line up and kind of tight fit with bigsby. works. Willl conform after a period of time.

This case works well, my 5420t fits nicely inside with no movement of the instrument. The lining is decent in that it is well padded and would offer reasonable protection to the guitar in normal circumstances, The outer covering seems fine for the price, I've had worse. The latches are of an affordable nature, they work well enough , with the middle one able to accept an pad lock for added security. All in all, this case is not going to break the bank and will keep your axe safe and sound. The true test will be how it stands up to the road, we shall see.
