Amazing right out of the box.

By Larry Williams from Colbert, GA on December 26, 2023 Music Background: Former 30 year professional guitarist.

I own over 30 guitars. I have been playing since 1965 and almost 30 years professionally. I know guitars.

I have owned hollow and semi-hollow Gretsch guitars, but they never worked for me like the Gibson ES series does.

I bought this due to the urging of a friend. WOW!!!!!!

It could have went directly to a gig and been fine. I did do a full setup on it though. Changing a couple things to my personal setup. Plays like a dream. I have guitars that cost 3 and 4 times more, but they are not any better than this Sparkle Jet.

It is 100% flawless. The Japanese Terrado factory is producing the best quality guitars you can buy. I own Custom Shop Gibson and Fender guitars that did not start this well. This Sparkle Jet is the equal of any of them.

Thanks to Alden Deebee for getting this Gretsch out to me and delivered safely.

If you are in the market for a different kind of guitar, one that sonically covers any kind of music, this Vintage Select Sparkle Jet is the one for you. It covers both Fender and Gibson sounds very, very well. And, it does its own thing too.

Buy one. You will LOVE it!

Gretsch G6129T-59 VS '59 Duo Jet

By Greg from Scottsdale, AZ on May 8, 2023 Music Background: P&W player

Took delivery about 2 weeks ago. Top quality build, perfect out of the box. TVJ classics sound amazing. I'm a P&W player using a Helix and I would highly recommend this guitar. Plenty of sustain, no issues with the space control bridge, Bigsby or the tone switch. Perfect Gretsch tone. Robert Williams, my rep for almost 10 years was communicative throughout the back order process. If you don't have a rep, ring him up. He will take care of you.

Great instrument.

I bought this as a Christmas present to myself. The price tag seemed high, but I went for it. The only problem is that I had to buy an equally expensive gift for the wife.
This thing is as pretty as a guitar gets. It came packed very well.the package was huge and I had to open in the parking lot where I had it delivered just to get it in my car. Suffice to say; the guitar and case were pristine. I paid to have it PLEKed and I'm wondering if it was necessary. Anyway, it played perfectly out of the box, none of the usual setup issues. The controls are a little different than usual, simple, but still unusual with theee volumes and just a toggle switch for tone. When I plugged it in and played it at an open mic recently I was amazed by the tone.mhese pickups rock; the highs cut through and the lows are solid and not muddy. The feel of the neck above the 15th fret it a little tricky as far as finger accessibility goes, and I wish there were a few more fret markers on 17 and 19, but that's a tiny thing. This is a bucket list Guitar for me and I'm happy.

Gleaming Gritty Gretsch Goodness

By Denny Wood from RAMONA, CA on March 11, 2022

I would be hard-pressed to find a single fault with this instrument. The craftsmanship! The comfort and playability! And… The versatility make it a keeper for sure. It does everything I want it to [and probably a lot more than I'm capable of dishing out, ha!]
The TV Jones pick ups run a little warmer than the ones in my Brian Setzer hot rod. I don't know how that's possible but it seems to be true.
And the geniuses are at work at Gretch have somehow simultaneously infused this fine instrument with equal parts down n' dirty, and sparkling chime.
But… My favorite tone is the nasty growl that I get from the front coil on the bridge pick up. It's got more punch than a Popeye and Bluto fight.

I Did Not Know What I Was Getting Into

By Robert D Branscome on August 24, 2021

This will not be extensive, just to the point. I have never felt such a solid instrument with such amazing tone. The variety of sounds that the tone switch, pickup selector and volume knobs bring out are outstanding. Even when playing through my 78 Peavey VT Series Classic, using the various tonal options, this guitar shines, or should I say, sparkles? If you are at a point in life where you want to treat yourself with something a little bit more expensive or are a professional looking for that "Great Gretsch Sound", I would say this could be the one!

Sparkle City

By Medka T. from Bakersfield on May 18, 2020 Music Background: Player,

Gretsch has done well with this VS series. The finish is pretty close to perfect, some small details on mine that got overlooked but I am being picky. The 2 piece body is almost seamless. The neck is a V neck, but a broad V, not super pointy sloped. I like that the bridge is pinned and closely intonated from the get go...the 3 series bigsby is great. Tuners have a little play in the gears but still hold well. Definitely needed a setup out of the box. The filtertron pickups sound great, the classic series made by TVJ just have more presence in them and are perfect for the sound that this unit goes for! I do think the wiring upgrades on these models improved the overall sound of the series.. I would say for anyone looking at this guitar, or the G6128T-59VS, you are going to get what is described!

Amazing guitar

By Jason from Northwest Ohio on December 22, 2019 Music Background: 30 years gigging as a guitarist.

This guitar is beautiful from top to bottom. It came out of the case in near perfect setup, the action feels great and the intonation is perfect. The silver sparkle finish is awesome and draws attention everywhere it goes. I chose this guitar not only for the finish and name, but for the TV Jones classic pick ups. They are great pickups and are in my opinion some of the best vintage sounding humbuckers out there. I’ve been a Gibson Les Paul player for 25 years, and these pickups keep up with a vintage Gibson any day. I can use this gretsch for almost any genre of music from classic country to hard rock. I play in a cover band that does many styles so this guitar fits the sound and the look is awesome. The bigsby gives the tremolo option and tops off this amazing guitar package nicely.

Sweetwater staff was amazing and allowed me try our many guitars for hours in the store before I chose this one. How much more could you ask for ?

What I was searching for.

By Tim M from Maryland on December 6, 2019 Music Background: Touring, session, not settled down with my family and am the PD at a church

I’m a tele guy. Through and through. I have a bunch of different guitars, used a bunch of different guitars for session work, and always find myself picking up and using my tele most weekends at my contemporary (rock show) church. I always wanted a nice meaty bridge sound, but I like chime. I could never get that out of a humbucker. Hence the tele. I should say I used to be a tele guy. This sparkle jet is a thing of beauty. I also have a Tennessee Rose, but this jet is in a league of it’s own. It has the shimmer and snap I’m expecting from a single coil, with the fatness and fullness of a humbucker. I am blown away. If you are a single coil guy like me, but need something of a different flavor, you can go wrong calling Sweetwater rep Clint Bransteter and getting one of these guys. You won’t be disappointed.

Classic Silver Beauty

By Steve on April 23, 2020 Music Background: Okay player

I had to wait for this guitar but it was well worth it. Beautiful tone through the T.V. Jones classic pickups combined with the unique and slightly eccentric looks of a classic Gretsch. I love the soft and fast playing V neck it just feels so good in your hand. I would highly recommend this guitar the fit and finish are flawless. Thanks to my sales engineer Chris Neyman for his input on this fantastic fun to play instrument.
