Gretsch G6128T-53 Vintage Select Edition '53 Duo Jet - Black Reviews
The G6128T-53 Vintage Select '53 Duo Jet takes you back to 1953, a hallmark year for Gretsch guitars. That was the year Gretsch introduced their new flagship solidbody electric guitar, the Duo Jet. The '53 Duo Jet combined the harmonic resonance of a chambered mahogany body with a pair of Gretsch's finest single-coil pickups, the DynaSonics, whose clear and bold tone made them ideal for the emerging world of rock 'n' roll. The G6128T-53 Vintage Select '53 Duo Jet delivers this same sound by combining TV Jones T-Armond pickups with a period-accurate Treble Bleed circuit featuring Squeezebox PIO capacitors. Aged pearloid block inlays, a pinned aluminum compensated bridge, and a genuine Bigsby B3CCB vibrato tailpiece complete the picture.

The guitar I didn’t know I wanted
This is my third Japanese Gretsch. I had a curiosity for dynasonics and really wanted to try them. When I read that these pickups were models after Setzer's silver jet, I had to try it out. First of all, the guitar is stunning. The black top against the cream binding and natural mahogany back is so sexy. Add the scripty logo and rosewood veneer on the headstock. It's just so hot. It's a super smooth feeling guitar. The size is a nice change from my big Nashville. The addition of a pinned bridge and treble bleed is a nice modern touch that doesn't change the overall vintage feel of the guitar. I am in love with the pickups. They're very different than filtertrons. Snappier. More bass. Great clarity. I'm still in a honeymoon period, but my other guitars are getting dusty.
