Excellent

My second Gretsch Guitar. I loved my Gretsch Penguin Parlor so much I took the plunge into the Electric Zone. Nice guitar. Beautiful color (silver) Fret ends are a little rough, wouldn't pass the nylon snag test. Nothing a set up couldn't smooth out. Sounds great through my Boss KTN 100 and my Fender Micro. (Like it better than my Gibson Les Paul and that is my pride and joy)

This is some guitar!

By John Page from Machias Maine on February 24, 2021 Music Background: Playing off and on since 1990 with 98% off. Just got serious a year and a half ago.

I got the silver one and this guitar blows me away! It was almost in tune! The neck is thin and fast and the action low with no fret buzz! I would have expected to pay at least twice the amount I did. The Sound is amazing in every way! You won't be sorry if you buy this beauty!!

Great guitar for anyone really.

By Andrew R. on November 6, 2020

Started playing the guitar 2 years ago this month. This was the first guitar I purchased. I used it everyday for the entire first year. Now I didnt have much to compare it to because I was a beginner but I absolutely love this guitar. I now have a PRS SE CUSTOM 24 that I primarily play. However, I keep this one in my office and pick it up to play daily. My PRS plays a little easier based on how it feels to the touch, but its a pricier guitar. I am a better player on the Gretsch though, probably because I learned on it. I really have no complaints.

Gretsch Heaven

Ok, I have to write a brief review of this Guitar! I had purchased a Fender Acoustic Guitar some time ago that was constructed of Basswood Back and Sides with a Spruce Top and I was blown away by it's resonance! I think most people don't realize what a Great Tonewood, Basswood actually is!
So, when I realized that this Gretsch Jet Club is constructed of a Chambered Basswood Body, I just had to have one! WHAT AN AMAZING GUITAR! I own several Epiphone Special 11 Les Pauls and absolutely love them, so If you like the body size of a Les Paul, the Gretsch Jet Club is for you! It is lighter than a Gibson Les Paul and The Basswood Chambered Body gives beautiful resonance. A beautiful Warm Jazzy Sound with the neck pickup and a bright sound with both pickups! The Quality of this guitar is incredible! It has become my favorite electric guitar and I own many! This Gretsch has a fantastic Unique Tone all it's own in a light Les Paul size Body! Do yourself a big favor and snag one when they are available!

Gretsch G5426 jet club silver

I bought this guitar 4 months ago. The sound is crystal clear, solid set up was perfect out of the box. .008 with capo between 8th fret and low D string just the way I like it !!!! I tuned it but that's it. Switch is solid, and Knobs are damped with good volume control. The silver color and finish is perfect, and does not show fingerprints like the black. This is my best looking guitar so far.

In a Class of Its Own at $299

By Jeff Starr from Michigan on October 12, 2015

I bought a 2015 Gretsch G5426 Jet Club (in Silver Sparkle) just a few days ago, sight unseen. Not many shops carry Gretsch, so I had to take a leap of faith. I'm glad I did. As a point of reference, in my opinion this is the Classic Vibe Telecaster of LP style guitars (albeit a Gretsch). The features, construction attributes and overall finish quality put it in a class of its own at under $300.

What sets this apart from ANY guitar in the same price range is the body construction. It's a basswood back with a maple top that is FULLY chambered. Pop the control covers off the back and you'll get a great look at a body that is chambered beyond what you'd expect at this price point. What this does for the sound is offer a brilliantly warm acoustic tone (unplugged and amplified). It's very loud and resonant when played unplugged, which makes it great for late night jamming or writing.

Hardware quality is very good for this price point. Tuners are the same caliber as the Classic Vibe series, which means there's really no need to replace them. The ABR-1 style Adjustomatic bridge is nice. The electronics feature full size 500K pots and a Switchcraft style 3-way toggle for the pickups. There's no need for upgrades here unless you plan on gigging this guitar on a nightly basis for an extended period of time and want the reassurance of extreme long term durability.

Fit and finish is excellent. Superior to the Epiphone LP guitars I've seen and played in-store. Fretwork is very nice, but I took 20 minutes and polished the frets to a glass-like mirror finish during the 1st string change. Nut is also very nicely cut, but I cleaned up the slots a bit with some 2500 grit sandpaper then lubricated them with nut sauce. The guitar stays in perfect tune once the strings are stretched in.

Sound is excellent as well. These "gretsch" humbuckers give the LP fatness with a bit a Fender tone mixed in. A great tone that is unique and fits well with many styles music, from country to hard rock.

I've owned $2000+ Gibsons and Fenders, so this isn't my first rodeo. I bought this when I was downsizing gear for a business venture and needed something to fill the broad Fender to Gibson gap. Surprisingly, this little $299 gem fit the bill perfectly. Highly recommended.

Who needs a Gibson?

By Ken from Coldwater MI on May 21, 2012 Music Background: Guitar player 49 years

I had my heart set on a Gibson Les Paul 60s tribute studio until my wife had me try this beauty out. It has a chambered body like the gibby but the finish on this guitar is awsome. The pups have that gretsch growl and cleans much like the p-90s. Tone wise this guitar blows them away!!!! I tried it out on tube and moeling amps and sounded great on both. I ended up buying the last one they had in stock that day(lucky me) which happened to be the one that I had been trying out for the last month. Sweetwater made me a great deal that day and were very accomindating to me. THANK YOU SWEETWATER FOR BEING THERE FOR ME!!!!!

With some work it will be an awesome guitar, and I love the look & finish on it

By jerimy brown from Broomfield, CO on January 26, 2022

Be aware this guitar has no fret markers beyond 17 if that matters to you. Maybe I only noticed it because I am still a beginner and still doing some things visually?

The minimal neck design is spot on IMO, other than those missing markers that I may not care about as I progress.

I agree with at least one other reviewer here... The tuners are a horror show haha. First off, they just seem dainty and small, like you're going to break them or something, and they don't hold tune at all. I am constantly tuning this guitar and not because I am switching tunes. I have some new tuners on the way already.

I should have just let Sweetwater do some work to it, but I was anxious to get it, and COVID seems to have all things delayed longer than normal, so opted to deal with myself.

May upgrade some other things too, but the tuners are a must fix now situation. The other things can wait until I am good enough to justify the spend ;)

Great guitar for the money

By Robert from Austin, TX on January 28, 2014 Music Background: Semi-Pro Musician

This is my first sub $1,000 guitar in a few years. I have to say I was more impressed than I thought I would be. I generally play single coil Telecasters, so I needed something with a little more bottom end. This delivered for the price. In order to make it a great guitar, you will spend money getting this thing ready for sure.

Pros
1. Price
2. Finish: Beautiful
3. Feels great in my hands
4. Frets were not jagged as on most cheap guitars.

Cons
1. Pickups can run a little muddy at times, will be replacing these soon
2. The pots are horrible and you will need to replace these pretty quickly
3. Had some issues with the nut off the bat pinching the strings (making tuning a pain when playing live). Just needed to add some graphite and it is a LITTLE better
4. Tuners are horrible, something else you will want to replace. Will not keep in tune for more then 1 or 2 songs.

Overall, you can't beat the price and I have ZERO regrets picking this up. Sure, you will throw a few hundred in to it to get it up to par, but this guitar is worth it. A better option then a Squire or Epiphone in my opinion.

Craftsmanship, looks Si....Sound NO

By steve from New York on January 5, 2016 Music Background: Long time guitar player/acquirer!

I recently got the silver Jet Clup. It's gorgeous, seems well crafted and I like the feel of the neck. Unfortunately the sound sucks. The treble pickup has a disturbing microphonic echo type of sound to it. The other pickup isn't very appealing either. I simply could not get a tone I like as much as the tones of ANY of my other (approximately 20) electrics.
