Nice Guitar

By Allison H from Endicott NY on February 1, 2023 Music Background: Playing poorly for over 35 years

I've always wanted an electric 12 string and this guitar fits the bill nicely. It's light, the action is great, and it sounds fantastic. I've always been iffy about Gretsch guitars, but they knocked it out of the park with this one and I'm already plotting my next purchase.

Beautiful 12 string!

What magical sounds you will make with the Gretsch G5422G-12 Electromatic Classic Hollowbody Double-Cut 12-string - Single Barrel Burst. Fit and finish are awesome. The guitar plays easily and is striking to look at. As always, Gretsch guitars are something special!

Long Time Dream Finally Comes True

By Rick from Long Island on October 14, 2022 Music Background: Classic Rock, Originals

I've always loved the sound of 12 strings guitars, both acoustic and electric. Once I spotted Mike Nesmith playing his Gretsch 12 string electric back in 1966 I fell in love with that guitar. I had a custom built Carvin 12 string electric for a number of years, but could never get the "sound" of those 60s guitars, so I sold it figuring I'd never have an electric 12 string. Then Gretsch started making the G5422G and my interest was piqued. After months of research and hemming and hawing, I finally pulled the trigger last week and bought one. All I can say is man, I'm glad I did! This guitar is not only beautifully made, but plays and sounds awesome! I can't wait to use it at our next gig for songs we do that need a 12 string. I've been using a Mosaic pedal for the past 7 years and while it's a great sounding pedal, there's nothing like the real thing!
Thanks to my sales engineer, Tim Holsinger, for once again getting me a great deal! If you've been thinking about getting one of these babies, don't hesitate to do so...you won't be sorry!

Great guitar for the price

By Mike Danler on September 14, 2022

Just got a my Gretsch 12 string. Pleasantly surprised by the build quality and overall great looks of it. I've been playing Rickenbacker for years, they are a challenge narrow neck .Gretsch is very comfortable. I lowered the bridge plays great. I recommend getting a Byrds compressor foot petal , it has a nice jangle with it . Sweetwater awesome as always with pice, shipping, and I had one on order they emailed right away. Great low cost way to play 12 strings.

I Wanna Marry This Guitar

By Dave from Los Angeles on April 21, 2022 Music Background: professional songwriter/producer

Never owned a 12 string before as I thought they were too much of a pain to play. But I needed some rich jangle for a few tracks, so I actually contacted the Sweetwater sales engineer for the first time and man, did he know his stuff! By asking what guitars I liked, etc., he figured out that this Gretsch G5422G-12 (Come on, Gretsch, can't you come up with a better name?!?) would be the neck I'd like most. I was quite impressed with how helpful he was, and how he never tried to sell me anything. (I guess Sweetwater doesn't hire used car salesmen!)

It arrived in a few days. Completely in tune, perfect intonation. I played it and it's a marriage made in heaven. So effortless to play! It feels like a 6 string. And man, does it sound good -- so rich, jangley when you want that, and very crisp. Never had a Gretsch before, either, and I am very impressed with the quality. Plays better then the $ Gibsons I've tried.

BTW, I am a player, not a collector. I have 3 guitars for different sounds -- a Yamaha Tele, a Vox Bobcat for P90 bite, and now this one for rhythm. I do not collect guitars to put on the wall and look at! But I gotta say that this one sure is purty! The pictures do not do it justice. It's rather shinier and more dazzling than the pictures show. The brownish color is quite vibrant in real life.

Anyway, I have to go file for a marriage license!
