Exceptional Tones
You're probably expecting me to say that this is a great guitar"for the price". No. This is a GREAT guitar period. The cosmetics are flawless, but the real magic happens when you plug in. Broadtron is a good name for these pickups. They really do cover a broad range of tones. I only just brought this guitar home yesterday and the setup is perfect. I like low action and was expecting to do a bit of tweaking, but every time I picked this guitar up all strings were about 1/2 cent sharp. That told that this guitar is settling in and now the action is perfect. Big shout out to the setup team at Sweetwater. I've been plugging into my Pod Go and scrolling through various amp models and settings to find a place where this guitar excells and have been surprised by how many different tones the 5222 can get along with. Based on my experience with Gretsch guitars I was expecting the pickups to shun an overdriven,soaring type of lead tone. Not so. In fact there are some sweet spots on the fretboard that deliver a remarkable harmonic overtone when pushed. That's magical! I've been around many years(62)and played a lot of guitars. I can tell you that I haven't experienced this measure of joy from a new guitar in a long time.
